That's nothing. I flew in a glider, threw it away midflight, pulled out my sniper, did a quick 360 degree spin in the air, no-scoped an enemy and then pulled out a whole new glider. My call for duty was crazy in Warzone.

An action game could do much better than this without the need to be ultra realistic with hundreds of buttons tô press and things like that.
In this mission just put the NPC pilot talking more realistic things and doing some neat realistic manuevers.
Even for common people that aren't experts on this would be a lot more fun.
Being a game doesn't justify what BF3 did.

Ahh, I get it now. A "Wizzo" (officially a Weapons Systems Officer) is a multirole aircraft nickname for what used to be a RIO on interceptors and a bombardier on attack aircraft, where both jobs are combined.
as a game developer, it is our task to make these moments epic, interesting, and pretty, we often do things unrealistic in the sake of making it better for a game XD
I can see why they did things like that, some of them are just because they don't know how it's done irl yeah
Could have given you control of the front seat, rather than the back, but I suppose that would take a lot more effort to develop than what's essentially a rail shooter at this point in the game.

I love the way Mover highlights all the discrepancies such as "...we don't get briefings while walking out to the airplane". But it's primarily the eye-rolls and expressions on Mover's face that cracks me up.

I was extremely disappointed when I realized I was going to be stuck playing the whole level as WSO. I didn't read the text at the start and got all the way to the part where he starts climbing into the jet, and I was like "hey, wait that's definately my seat, YOU get in the back!"
Yeah, I always get annoyed at any "on-the-rails" flight missions. I mean, of course Wedge has to fire the weapons, gotta have the player do something other than looking around. But even that's just utter boredom and a waste of a mission when you aren't actively controlling whatever vehicle you're in. Exception was the Spectre in Modern Warfare, but even that got old after a couple playthroughs. Chalk it up to growing up with Battlehawks, X-Wing/TIE Fighter, etc.
I have a question, what does WSO stand for?

This is even less accurate than Ace Combat games and those games take a lot of liberties like how many missiles you can carry with you per sortie.
Not my case. When I played BF3 I was used to play War Thunder, so in BF3 it felt too arcade, but it was BF style, like doing a "mission" that basically is just a video where you can interact a little bit with it.

This was a training "baby step" mission to learn how to handle jet weapons, as I recall. You had a bus driver and only have to deal with weapons, mainly to get used to them. That was why the enemy got behind them so often in the script- -to get you used to countermeasures. It was teaching you, so plot kept you safe.
I can't remember if BF3 weapons reload over time or you had to do a close flyby on the carrier to rearm. Its not intended for realism -- the maps are WAY too small for you to fly as fast as a real jet, for example. They never run out of countermeasures either, they just have a countdown to rearm.
It was "game design" not realism that controlled its gameplay. But then again I have made fun of "tacticool" games myself. "SPREAD OUT you tools... and GET DOWN idiot... and "use the side of the hill and not the TOP -- there was a REASON you got sniped!"

One scene the “Hades” bomb is there, the next it’s not. But then it reappears.
Either way I was 6 when it came out and it was a huge factor in my future decision to join the Air Force. Even when I was in I never did find the “Hades” bomb.

Yeah well judging by battlefail 5's revision of history i started to think almost everything on a batllefield game is purely made up at this. And i was right.
Its a pretty fuckin sad day when call of booty becomes the more realistic game with garbage like mw 2019. Garbage vs garbage....how fps games have fallen... i wish we could one day be back to the good old days of bad company 2, cod4, mgs4, killzone 2, resistance etc....
Of all the Mover Ruins Movies/Games videos I've watched, this might be the first one he's *actually* ruined for me because now every time I play this mission, I always say "That's your job, dude" every time the pilot tells me to check something. lol

In a way storms can be useful for sneaking up on enemies and concealing your position from them. Most military ships now days are not troubled by storms so only makes sense to make use of them when you can find em.

You all are missing the point, this isnt a simulator, its an arcade game. The only realism is the graphics and movement. Controls and Mechanics of a game cant be realistic or else it would not be a fun arcade game.

I like how they explain the accuracy of the Game, & how you would correct the issues...
I think some of the dialog either is written the way it is:
Either for the Game? Because it's how the Game interp. it in the Game's World since it's not a real world,
or they had to change some of the dialog for the game, for a reason, & could not use actual wording, or
my 3rd idea is that they were trying to keep most of the viewer's perspective on the Gameplay, & less on
the wording, & accuracy of the Game... I dunno... I do agree some of it feels right even if it's not exactly
100% correct, but in some cases I did also agree the wording does throw you off with a few ??? in your head...
When I first did this Scene, even I felt like I was just going up for a Test Run, & being the back seat Gamer
who was just being told what to do, & never expected to take control of anything... So when they asked me
to become the gunner, I felt like I was thrown under the bus... Like what? I thought I was just here for a brief
explanation of how things work, not to be thrown into action on my first lesson? lOl...
