I'm going to pin this just so people won't keep pointing it out (which I'm sure they will anyway 😂). 1) That's 1079 knots which is still ridiculous. (200+ knots past an overspeed and an F-16 just won't get there) 2) The only fighters in the world that use metric are Russian. Even Vipers in foreign countries use Knots and Feet. That's the international standard. (Besides Russia, China, and North Korea) 👍

@@TexasLawbringer77 I think people mix up "immersive" and "authentic" and say "realistic" for battle field alot, the graphics, sounds and feel of the game really does make you "feel like you are there" but it doesn't at all mean the feeling is accurate to reality.
Nah, bf players mostly say it's more realistic then Cod. But talking about combat simulator... perhaps something like arma. We would say is more realistic than bf and we're fully aware of that.

Still remember flying full tilt on afterburners hitting the air brake and pulling up then rolling the plane (f15a active) and engaging an enemy that had been on my tail with guns while going backwards whilst ramming the throttle open and going under him on the older ace combat the belkan war. Pretty sure you can't do that in real life and even if you could pretty sure you'd be dead before ever getting the guns even close to on target.
On a plus side the belkan war was a much better story than this one.

Once you start seeing Ace Combat as a Shonen Anime but with planes, stuff starts to make a lot more sense.
Well, the JAPANESE Version of Ace Combat 3 pretty much was one, shame that it all got cut out for the western release

I never played Ace Combat, but listening to playthroughs of the games is so cheesy and hammy. It's like anime with planes. Somehow I like all the drama that happens in the games.

Ace Combat, despite its unrealistic nature, has always been an entertaining title to play. The belief I've always had is that they stuck 3d printers into the hardpoints of every plane which gives them so much ammo lol, now I'll be off in my F22 with 200 Sidewinders.
@CKS1949 Agreed, a very successful formula yet to be surpassed. They're just fun games to play, recently got the Ace Combat 5 port for the PS4 and the game is just a blast of nostalgia and has aged well since its in 4k 60fps.

Its all Belkan Black Magic, anyway.

They would still have to carry material worth the same weight as all that munition.
@CKS1949 I'd play this game if not for the excessive talking and just how cringe that talking is.
Also, there's way too many targets (both in air and ground) and destroying them is too easy. Without even a shred of strategic believability.
It all cheapens the experience.

@@IgorFonseca244 Yeah, I think it's 3 seconds. The gun can actually generate more thrust than the engines and if fired for awhile, it can cause the A10 to stall.

A Good Christian Pilot I like War Thunder a lot, but the players are kinda ew, everytime I get a friend request on that game or I get an invite from a squadron, I usually don’t respond to them. I was in a clan for a while and apparently one of the “officers” was an ex marine and he would command everyone like were his marine squad, it was kinda wacky so I just left lmao.

I absolutely love the AC games and have played them for years but I’m struggling to believe that there’s actually people out the who think it’s realistic, I mean missiles magically reappearing on the pylons in mid flight is a bit of a give away for a start, never mind having to fly through tunnels and shoot down gigantic flying air bases 🤣🤣
The tunnels are the only thing I hate about the AC games!
When i was 8 years old playing AC5, i thought it was lol. But I was 8.
@@B-A-L the tunnels are kind of a requirement for an AC title now. If Ace Combat 8 doesn't have at least one tunnel you have to fly through, it'll feel like it's missing something. Same goes for the absolute ridiculous scale of the superweapons.
Stonehenge has to be the most realistic of the superweapons in the AC universe, though. Chandelier, SOLG and Excalibur, not a chance. Arsenal Birds and Arkbird, slightly more likely but not very. Megalith and Fortress Intolerance are pushing closer to plausible, but impractical. Stonehenge has a lot of practicality in the form of redundancy (8 combination gunpowder/electromagnetic launchers) and proven technology.

I was talking to a "pilot" one time a few years back that said they used Ace Combat for sims and me and 3 other people, all of us Ace Combat fans just laughed. This series has and always has been arcade. The stories of the games and the planes are the draw.

Here in the UK I used to do a job that brought me into contact with a fair few USAF pilots flying out of Lakenheath & Mildenhall. I got drawn into a conversation with one of them because AC7 had just come out and he'd overheard myself and his 14 year old son talking about the game. Obviously as a pilot IRL he was unimpressed and the best way I could explain it to him was: It's not what jets are like, but it is what you WANT them to be like when you're six.

The clouds affecting radar is kinda like a safe zone, since this game has crazy Missile tracking.
Not to mention, this was the first game they introduced clouds
Anyone who argues that the Ace Combat franchise is “realistic” is just wrong.
I’ve been a fan of this franchise since 2003 and it’s a nice game franchise to play. Anyone who has played the PlayStation 2 Ace Combat games (AC4, AC5, AC Zero) then you know that the story is the main selling point. So it’s a pure fun game overall

Yep, AC isn't popular for being realistic. It's popular for its fictional story, over the top scifi bosses, and arcade gameplay. I'm not even a huge dog fighting fan, but I love the world of Strangereal. There's so much depth behind it and all the characters.

Ace Combat is basically Star Wars with real planes, there are even FRICKIN LASER BEAMS, giant superweapons, and tunnel runs. Also thr music is godlike
Based on technology, 80% of content in ace combat already exists in the real world. Obviously the lazers and the big bosses doesnt really exist. But other than that...

“*Only* five flares.” Lol. That’s more than you normally get in most flight-combat games. I don’t remember any in the last three games.
You should try a game called Over G Fighters for Xbox 360. You can only take a realistic amount of missiles (four-ish). If you load one side with heavier weapons, the plane will sag on that side in flight. You can also choose to sortie with a less-than-full tank to add maneuverability if all your missiles/bombs are heavy. If you fly through an explosion, your plane will stall. If you fly up, the blood rushes from your head and the screen goes black. If you fly down, the blood goes to your head and the screen goes red. There’s no HUD above enemy planes; You can only see light reflecting off their cockpits at certain angles. It’s imperative to refuel and reload at airstrips mid-battle. You get limited chaff, and it doesn’t always trick enemy missiles. One or two hits will take you down IIRC. It was a very hard game to play.
Me: Can’t wait for Mover to complain about all the ludicrous weapons and plot holes in missions.

Looking at Ace combat as a simulator is like using Need for Speed to learn how to drive. It would be fun to see his reaction to the Arsenal Bird and the other Sci-fi planes.

Actually, arcade racing can teach you a bit as thanks to playing so much when I was younger actually saved me from a real accident as I had the muscle memory of when the back end come out while going around a corner (and yes I was lucky).
But arcade air combat games, nope. Not a chance.
Well to be honest i learned a great deal of driving from the nfs series lol. Of course not speeding but stuff like braking before corners and counter steering etc. Its not perfect but it'll definitely stick with you as you get older. It's how i passed my drivers test. My intructor laughed her ass off when i told her i got my skills from a game lol never had a ticket or have never been in a wreck.

The lasers and Electromagnetic cannons you later unlock are pretty realistic.

It Has been Detailed with Feel of Flight and Military Atmosphere but Has Leaned to the Average Shoot em up and Numb Arcade style more here and there for some reason
Try and couple all of that with flight sim systems and realistic aerodynamic physics and systems and you'll turn Ace Combat into a more niche title than it probably already is!

AC has never been a flight simulator. It's an action game that uses fighter jets as it's theme and it does this very well.

It's Strangereal, man. Where at times, we pull out both realistic & semi-realistic values so the audience can relate better, but every other time we throw it out so you can feel like better than normal physics-restricted pilots!

I'm pretty sure people just wanted to see your reaction. I myself am a huge fan of the ace combat series and in terms of storie telling my personal favorite is Ace Combat 0 the belkan war. Also would like to add as a fan that I'm fully aware that its unrealistic.

yeah, why is he wasting missiles on AA guns when he can fly at 50 feet strafing them with unlimited bullets? If you don't destroy literally ALL of the possible ground targets available AND all the optional enemy aircraft while flying under any bridges you see you really aren't playing Ace Combat properly.

I love that radar is incredible in this universe and can detect anything for instance the space elevator in mission 4 even if you use a raptor which is a stealth fighter and I'm pretty sure isn't good at being blipped yet... The clouds can make your missile miss at point blank range

A "blisk" is apparently a "bladed disk," meaning the fan blades and the rotor are a single component rather than the blades being individually attached to the rotor. Fancy CNC manufacturing that gets better performance at the cost of having to dismantle the engine and throw the entire blisk away if anything goes wrong with any of the blades.
