Your comment at 14:06 perfectly sums up OSEA. Over the course of 2 games & 2 wars they've had 4 super weapons and a space elevator stolen, lost all but one their aircraft carriers (again twice), & their typical mission strategy is to send a few units against an overwhelming force and hope a mute guy with a hundred missiles saves everyone.

Actually, it's anti-IR clouds, given that the Ace Combat standard missile resembles the AIM9. And if you look at an IR spectrum of water vapour, you'll realize that you can actually cloak yourself from IR detection. Warships do that regularly with their outside sprinkler systems.
Radar is not affected by clods, however 😬

"Are we listening to the enemy's radio?" No, the game plays their audio for the benefit of the player, to help tell the story. The characters in the game don't actually hear the enemy radio, unless the enemy addresses them specifically.
a clear example is in mission 12 where in the communications there are enemies who mention they are infiltrating the complex, clearly neither trigger nor the rest of the lrssg canonically hear that conversation
EXACTLY !
I never noticed that. I always figured we managed to magically hack their communications every time, but given how your wingmen never react to the "intercepted" enemy chatter...
...given in the DLC mission when they're surprised to be talking direct to the enemy, and ultimately your wingman has you switch coms...
...huh...that might explain a lot.
"None of the three dudes can help you??" Welcome to ace combat.
Those guys are there to gawk at you killing all the enemy dudes. They're not rated to do anything useful.
It's admittedly frustrating, though, especially when you're surrounded by supposedly-badass veteran pilots who just expect you, the rookie, to do all the work. Like how is Bandog going to give ME static about the Eruseans blowing up his fake airbase; when I just spent the last 15 minutes shooting MiGs out of the sky, and all Chad Kroeger and Gambling Problem did was fly loop-the-loops and clog the radio with pointless chatter?
@@chesterstevens8870 It's clearly your fault because they put you in prison for trumped up charges(throwing a rock at a building, flying a plane in a war zone when war hadn't been declared yet, allowing someone to spoof the IFF and kill the ex-president and we're too lazy to actually investigate properly), then gave you airplanes whose weapons they wouldn't let you use for 5 minutes and....well, it's clearly your fault, is all.

Wrong. It wasn't Harling that flew and landed the transport, it was his assistant that did that. Harling was just on the radio and relayed Edge's instructions to his assistant. In that mission he even said to his assistant, after they landed, that the airforce should recruit him.
The missions get better and better, as well as the story line. The infamous missions really start kicking in after mission 4 and even more so after mission 11.

"No one thinks Ace combat is realistic"
I'd love to share your optimism Mover...
Trust me, as an avid fan of Ace Combat: We don't think it's realistic.
Well, it seems like a much lower amount then in some communities. Seems like a very small amount believe it is realistic, more believe certain parts of it are but not everything.
honestly being an AC fan and members of aircraft/military enthusiast forums. I can sadly say I've seen those kind of AC fans.
AC what got me interested in military stuff, but I know they aren't real ,so I kept them out of conversation inside those forums. But not these dudes, these dumbfucks would like to bring up Ace Combat to anything aircraft related. It got to the point where AC fans gained a notoriety within the enthusiast groups , kinda makes me feel ashamed sometimes.
Luckily from what I see, this problem are mostly localized,I haven't seen these dudes in international forums, both AC and real military related. So there's that.
Most AC fans actually embraced on the ludicrous aspect of AC and enjoy the meme making potential.
Tho I'd like to add
While AC communities rarely ever disscuss real military stuff(mostly because sensitive political stuff attached to it). When they do , it becames echo chamber for misconceptions that had been debunked long time ago. Like "stealth is dead" or "f-35 cant turn its a fat turkey lololol" . Tho I think they are like that not because they are AC fans, but because they didnt bother reading further.
@@bwer123gt I've seen some of that myself. Frankly, I get a little annoyed when I see every other mod for games like DCS or Arma are Strangereal related. Part of it is my friendship with someone that makes Ace Combat memes, so I see a lot of jokes about how illogical Ace Combat can be. (an example: How does Estovakia, which is stated IN GAME to have been in economic trouble-likely since Ulysses-build the Aigaion Fleet, which obviously had nothing to do with Ulysses?)
Ace Combat runs on Anime logic. It's creators have downright said that they care more about fun than realism. That's not a bad thing, but as someone who's put a few hundred hours into the series myself, I know that very, very little of that is going to translate into real life.
At least it's more realistic than Star Fox and Rogue Squadron, right?

Easy defense, he shot all 100 of his missiles during the engagement and that last shot couldn’t have possible come from trigger
He still had 23, look on the right side of the hud, still had 23 MSSL (standard missiles of the game) hehe.
Easier defense... Use the machine gun the entire campaign

"Your missles suck; no wonder you need 70 of them" and "Glass ceiling remains intact".....funniest shit I've heard today! 😂
Regarding why AWACS calls out weapons, that's because the main character is a literal silent protagonist.
Another thing you wonder about, the reason you can hear enemy radio chatter is for character development from the enemy side, going from zero to sky Jesus who can win wars by himself.
With that said, why stop at mission 4?

Mover the best fighter game I ever played was Jane's F-15E game. It came out in 98. I would like to see you review it.
IIRC Matt Wagner was involved with that... same with F/A-18(E).
Jane’s games were so good. I’d love to see them make a comeback. I remember being shocked at how good WWII Fighters looked, especially the Mustang with the sun glinting off that silver metal finish, and some battle damage. Completely different genre, but I also loved 688i. I’d run patrols in real time, be in my quarters “engrossed in a novel” and wait for the alert, “Conn, SONAR, new contact bearing...”
The Jane's F-15E game was very realistic. You had to manage your fuel, like a real eagle. There wasn't any running around the whole game in full burner. No you better set and obey your bingo fuel. G,lock was very good also. G limit decreased with your load out. I know the eagle like the back of my hand and was very impressed by the game.
