Exactly my whole problem with the Spare Squadron concept, yes there were penal units in history, but not with 50+ ammunition supersonic aircraft that can take more than 1 missile to kill

I also love how Mover isn't even playing the game... but is getting annoyed at the sheer uselessness of everybody not named "Trigger." That's the true AC7 spirit.

At least in the first 2 DLC missions the teammate AIs are somewhat more than flying targets
@@user-uv5ld3cx5t Yeah, I've seen them actually start shooting down enemy planes on higher difficulties, and also being more vocal about the battle situation, although not by a massive amount, especially in Anchorhead.
I've noticed that as the game moves on, your allies become more and more competent.
I actually prefer allied NPCS just being there as opposed to stealing all of your kills, what irks me is the AI tends to pick up the slack in the last two minuets of a mission or before a checkpoint you know the time when you most need more points.
The only game where you're allies were actually useful was in AC6. Honestly that support system was so OP, but I miss it.

I've learned to ignore the speed indicator. It's just a random number that goes up and down coincidentally as you get faster or slower. It has no attachment to reality...
I only use it so i can psm

@@BigsGaming I hate Psm. I can't learn it. The triggers on my controller are too worn and pressing the triggers and buttons in a quick succession to activate the manuveur just doesn't register. Nearly started crying one day after about 4 hours of trying to do it with my banjaxed controller

TBH I think Ace Combat 6 had the most useful wingman. Though I guess it was more like getting the whole squadron to help you, you press that button and everything in sight dies!

I dunno why they remove such commands those they've used since AC5, ignoring the spinoff ACs which requires simpler control? It feels good when the player is the leader and capable to give commands.

When the a-10 shot down an F-16 with air to ground rockets it looked like Mover kinda died inside a little.
I did a lot of T&E work with F-14s and never remember seeing any big ass pods like those under their wings.

Yeah, those pods are meant to be stealthy, quad-carriage-of AMRAAM pods, that externally carry their missiles 'internally' in those 'stealthy' pods..
They were mostly intended for the F22, but hey.. why not an F-14..?
Not like it has a smaller RCS than an F-16, but they don't let it use them too..be about the same as a viper or a typhoon carrying a pair of storm shadow cruise missiles each..
Hard to fight with, and not exactly aerodynamic..they usually punch off EDT's & other heavy stores as soon as BVR combat goes..
As if you'd ever try to furball or dogfight with those damn things under your wings, in any machine..the G loadings & air resistance alone would get you killed fast..be like having huge sails out & act like the aero-nautical equivalent of a pair of big boat anchors!
Take it all with a grain of salt & an asprin..It's just a game..where you can hide from radar in clouds! 🤣
Besides..as long as Mover's having fun, I'm having fun too..

My first reaction at that comment about 'shooting down the cons'..was "with what!? You bastards can't even defend yourselves! ..not without us cons..you've got giant balloon trucks & balloon animals..not even a real base, with any real amenities..because your meant to be a giant target!
You have nothing to stop planes with. So, unless your prison guards have a few MANPADS around, just to keep the convicts in line as they fly around the base, they're pointless once the cons get airborne..
And you saw how how even when taxiing to the runways, when Champ forced a takeoff, that there was no control from ground units to keep them in line & behaving, following orders..
It was all "When he gets back.." crap.
Unless youve got explosives in our planes & sabotaged all our ejection seats & removed the canopy emergency seperation charges..and also locked our cockpit canopy closed from the outside..

Yeah, to be fair, almost every mission of this game has air to air targets. So they put the A-10 on steroids to allow the player to use it anyway.
Imagine in AC8, if Namco has him cameo as side character.

The "drop tanks" contain four AMRAAMs each for the 8AAM special weapon. Whenever the 8AAM is selected, the container opens to release the missiles.

@@jcrafterz Because even if they could have taken control of the island, they wouldn’t have enough men to hold it, especially with the poor military strategy Osea tends to use (which is basically rely on a few individuals to do all the heavy lifting while the ground forces pretend that they’re storm troopers). It’s also possible that Erusea may have deployed some scorched earth tactics or taken most, or all, of what the Oseans could’ve used off the island some time before and/or during the attack.
6:30 the tomcats wing armament makes no sense. Thats a tripple missile pylons. The aircraft has 2 aa's and a weapons pod under them. Which means the pod doors will hit the aa's when opening and if the aa is fired first it will hit the weapons pod opened or not.
Wait until he see the Project Wingman Mission 15.
I'm glad you're still enjoying this even if it isn't your cup of tea. And while the radio chatter isn't always accurate, what's interesting is some were made up for the game. For example, the ADMM special weapon is basically a Macross micro-missile launcher, and the radio signal used in Ace Combat 6 is DRIVE.
A tugaavenger mission run would be a kick, that guy gets some high score runs.
I love Ace Combat 6 & 7 and yet I love Mover's takedown of them even more.

Took me forever to get passed mission 12. I was hung up for months, had to play other games to keep from launching my damn controller. Who knew the answer was the good ole Viper?
I would do like YF-23 or SU-47 with UGB and MSL parts.
Mission 12 wasn’t too hard, I did it with the F-15E (yes, i went back to grind mrp to unlock it) on my 3rd try. I had way more problems with mission 11. I was already sure about the F/A-18F being the best choice for the mission but it was my execution that needed improvement. Took a while but now I am very decent at shooting and destroying the platform cores.

it grows on you, it gives you a very uneasy fealing that goes well with having to fly away from missiles with no way to fight back. great use of dissonance also.

The A-10 in Ace Combat is actually a multi-role aircraft capable not just of close-air support, but also of maintaining air superiority, fighting toe-to-toe with actual fighters such as the MiG-29, Sukhoi jets and even other aircraft like the F-15. But it doesn't stop there! It has the capability to take on entire navies alone, carrying an entire squadron's worth of armaments and then some.
Maybe the problem of "Why they don´t run away with the aricrafts?" could be solved if the commander instead of say "You´ll get shot down" he could say "We´ll activate the bombs in your aircraft" and thats it

It gets more crazy later on, but to understand the later part, it's best to go through the full story, and the story is pretty good in my opinion.
I believe what the game meant in that barrel roll hint, is a canopy roll. Not sure its so useful nowadays, but back in the early AIM9/R3 days, probably useful for throwing off tracking a bit if combined with other maneuvers, but it just slows you down.

Oh C.W. Lemoine. About the girl you were referring to, Avril Mead? She currently can't fly due to her injured leg. It happened during the introduction cutscene when the game starts. She was flying the aircraft called a Starfighter for a test flight, but because the plane lacked a communication system to contact anyone, she was shot down as a hostile for flying over military airspace, which is why she was thrown in prison. She's one of the characters that you see having also a narrator role and has done work on Trigger's plane, you'll see her again in future missions.

I hope when they pick someone to do a play through of mission 15 they are able to follow Sol 1 and Wiseman down and around the buildings in the submerged area of Farbanti. I've done it so well and many times.

Ngl, this has become one of my favorite things to watch recently, watching an actually pilot observe the antics of the (quoting the devs) "very convenient world" that is Strangereal. This is probably the low point in the game, stuff starts getting nutty after these missions lul. Also what were the other ones doing? You said it yourself...high speed cheerleading... They really neutered the AI companions in this one.
