    Bandog was the most rude AWACS I have seen. He was a great character but one that we love to hate. He feels he can do whatever he wants and shows no care for his pilots sending them into the most dangerous situations without even informing them of what could potentially be there. He even tells the pilots to be targets if they can't fight. I understand they are convicts at all but you cant just throw people away like that. I think it was the worst thing to do because like some people said in the comments full band could have interrogated and it might have been found out how he got that information in the first place. By killing him they have still not identified how their intel was compromised and they have killed a pilot that could have been further helpful in the war effort. Bandog had plenty of time to deal with it in a non violent way but choose not to because he wanted to kill full band. He thinks he controls the convicts like they are his dogs. Also I don't know how Osea's justice system works but they basically threw trigger into that convict squad like he was guilty without even conducting an investigation. Its innocent until proven guilty but Bandog and McKinsey did not care about that. I wonder what the situation of the other convict's cases was as well. I was hoping there would be some measure taken against Bandog but nothing happened later. I guess thats the messed up thing is because its during a war and his pilots are prisoners hes going to get away with it.

    This is one of the reason that makes this game's plot not so bad, because it has a good consistency. Today I was thinking why didn't Roald and Hartmann (I believe that was his name) show up in mission 19, I thought "What if they were killed by Trigger?", but then I realized they lost their planes after being shot down, and after losing their base, there weren't any spare planes for them to use.

    *AS SOMEONE WHOSE CAREER IS IN PHYSICAL / INFORMATION SECURITY,* let me tell you how absolutely *irresponsible* it is to use extrajudicial murder to solve an information security issue.
    When an employee at my organization leaks federally protected information (it's happened twice that I know of), we don't fire them right away. We involve police, then let the breacher believe that cooperating with our investigation will let them either A) keep their job and/or B) avoid criminal prosecution. Whether we're telling the truth or not is irrelevant. You can't get blood from a stone, you can't get information from someone without dangling a carrot. And in Full Band's case, you can't interrogate a corpse.
    Bandog (and 444, by extension) knew Full Band was snooping long before Faceless Soldier. In fact, it had been three full weeks since Full Band started bragging about his intel skills. If Full Band needed to be isolated for national security purposes, they had plenty of chances to do it the right way... before a "tee hee oopsie" execution outside the chain of command. That's not how summary military executions even work, and I'm sure the base commander would've loved an opportunity to "find a spy" to pad his record.
    Bandog is not a judge. He's not military police, not an investigator, not anyone with the authority to order an execution. He's a radar operator. He isn't driven by honor or national duty, but by his god complex.
    The proof? "I decide whether you live or die."
    Prisoner or not, Full Band didn't deserve to go out that way. Bandog fucked right up, and here's why:
    * Who knew what information was compromised? Full Band.
    * Who knew what guard Full Band bribed to get access? Full Band.
    * Who knew what officer left their password exposed near a terminal full of (potentially) classified information? Full Band.
    * Who even knew whether the information accessed was actually classified, and not just personal dossiers or baby pictures? Full Band.
    Full Band was a symptom of the problem, not the cause. He didn't create the security breach, he merely exploited weaknesses and took advantage of an existing breach. You can determine and CLOSE THE BREACH by interrogating the person who found and exploited it. I seriously doubt their base would even have top secret access anyway. If I were High Roller, I'd stake money that Full Band had actually dug up some dirt on Bandog. You don't get assigned to bitch work like "bomb magnet at a fake base" and "convict baby sitter" unless you've really screwed the pooch somewhere in your career.
    TL;DR: Killing Full Band without interrogating him left his breaches unsecured, meaning they won't be closed, his accomplices won't be discovered, and someone else may come along to exploit them.

      Is your career tied to military, though?
      Full Band's crime was espionage. Which is, in fact, punishable by death.
      They are not official military, Fullband was already a crook, and the missions they were sent on were *supposed* to be suicide missions. In a way, they were already sentenced to death.
      I get what you're saying though, and in the end Erusean spies were kind of already onto the Oseans, but Full Band was a liability. I could see why he had to be taken care of immediately.

      I honestly didnt feel that Bandog, or most of the command staff for the 444, really gave a shit about security breeches. Seeing as the guy in charge was trying to use the successes of Trigger and the other pilots (but mostly Trigger) to make himself look good, and Bandog just be a general asshole with a complex, my bigger question would have been why such sensitive information would actually be available to shmucks running a prison/decoy target.

In Mission 9, he seems to genuinely care about the wellbeing of the Spares, notably Trigger, Tabloid and Count, as he sounded desperate when the Erusean drones attacked. I agree that Bandog used the ambush as an opportunity to silence a known security leak (Full Band), because he's a loyal officer

      Right, using fullband level of hacking can get into this strategic level Intel is slightly less than leave the intel unprotected. If the Eurasian can hack both the arsenal bird. That so call strategic information for them is like a candy in a child's hand. They would've knew it before full band able to brag about it. Moreover, you can't single out one unit as hostile on another specific unit while the rest units are showing it friendly or the other way around. By my understand, IFF doesn't work that way. All the friendly and foe information coming form the command link, which the node is band dog. You can change the "protocol" to let onboard Mode C transponder unable to respond correct. And that is likely how band dog manage to mark those FA18 are hostile.( I am not sure his has the clearance of doing that) He can either identify full band as friend to all other 444 or as hostile to all 444. Moreover, trigger has already bear the name of expresident killer, and most skillful of the bunch. Why does band dog need count to do their dirty work and raise others suspicion? I've replay the mission few times, and still unable to conclude reason beyond doubt the IFF mark full band as hostile is intentional. Moreover, it's pointless to ask full band where. Banddogs radar on the awacs can see it all, unless band dog is able to somehow wipe all the IFF tag in the system and re tag them (which is unauthorized operation that has consequences by itself). Up until now, I still believe it is an accident. Moreover, when 444 becomes a legit unit, the rest of the squadron can file a full investigation on the incident( and I bet my ass they will), and I don't think it will take long to find out if the incident is actually a conspiracy. If the finding is later, band dog can really hope there is top brass stand behind him to prevent his ass get thrown to jail. (Forget about McKenzie, that idiot won't stand behind anybody, and his not at position to do shxt about the investigation.)

      @@user-jh6vt8vx4v I do think that Bandog could have had direct access to the Spares' individual IFF's. Remember, Spare is a penal unit at this time. As their "Warden" in the air, Bandog does have direct access to their FCS, we saw that in Misson 5. It stands to reason that Bandog would also have direct access to their IFF's as well. Also, keep in mind that the Spares' aircraft are rebuilt scrap. They probably don't have the latest IFF's.
      As for having Count make the kill, he would most likely be the one to do it without question. Despite being convicted, Trigger seems to still act like a military pilot. A hotdog, but a loyal Osean pilot all the same. And after his conviction, he'd likely not shoot at an unknown target without confirmation. Count, on the other hand, had always been obsessed with his kill count. He would take the easy kill without question, which is exactly what Bandog would have been counting on.

    I would've preferred if we stuck with spare squadron until the end. They could've make Bandog/McKinsey corrupted in some ways, then Full Band could have been snooping around for evidence on them but then get "silenced" by Bandog as he did in the game. However someone else could have found the evidence left behind by full band, for example Avril who could have used them to get bandog and McKinsey (maybe using her "connection"). After that, spare squadron gets reformed in strider squadron led by trigger and paired up with cyclops and go on the same as the game.

      @Kurayami_13 5 лет назад +9

      Count at that time was self-centered jerk who jumped at every "easy" opportunity to prove that he is better than everyone else especially Trigger. So obviously when easy frag arrived he was first to jump on it without questions. Its actually quite interesting to observe changes in his character after this and during later missions where he changes from ignorant and self-centered jerk to the only one person who questions morality of what they are doing (civil war comments, Shilage refugees, supporting Trigger instead of "lets all fly away and let him do it" etc)

  • @TheRandomYoYo
    @TheRandomYoYo Год назад +2

    Also. Only Count had him tagged as an enemy. Bandog knew this. Tabloid realised it as well. We had full band tagged as ally. Very likely tabloid did as well. Bandog calls on count specifically to get the last "bandit". He picked count becuase he was the second best pilot on the team. And maybe presumed our godlike ability would cause us to recognise fullbands plane. And tabloid might jave taken too long until there is a halt. The moment bandog calls on count, full band asks where the bandit is since on his HUD, like ln everyones except counts it would have appeared as clear. Quite a nice little touch

    I don't think you're quite right on that. There aren't any enemies around to listen to an open channel and even if Full Band decided to talk about future plans during RTB, they could simply silence communications.
    It feels like Bandog's decision was almost entirely fueled by animosity towards Full Band's attitude and disrespect. Full Band clearly was going off the leash for a while already getting info on things he wasn't supposed to know, but there could be other means to silence him, maybe even simply keep him locked up in solitary. I think Bandog simply used the situation as an opportunity for a personal revenge on Full Band, you can even notice that he kinda chuckles when he says "I think you might be right" because he, Bandog, can mark planes as friendly or enemies, so he literally decides when they die as he claims to be able to multiple times, so yeah intel really is a life-or-death matter. Especially when the whole game's theme is information and the chaos that follows when there's no information, communication, intel as we see by people on the same side attacking each other, rebellions breaking out and overall lack of understanding about what is going on. We see that message even from the early missions when Mage and Golem squadrons are confused by their allies' actions and Mage 1 mentions that they aren't coordinating people "as usual", because no one had any idea Gargoyle squadron was trying to destroy the elevator.

    I'd pieced together most of this, but hadn't spotted that the LRSSG's return point was explicitly from Stonehenge in the briefing!
    It's also worth noting that Bandog actually has a reasonably good excuse since Full Band flies the same plane as the 'friendly' drone squadron. Not something anyone in Spare would accept given they were there and saw what happened, but easy enough to satisfy McKinzie if he asks (assuming he even would; what's one more dead convict?) Definitely worth remembering though, since it basically removes all guilt from Count; he'd only have been able to visually ID Full Band if he was close enough to see the strike on his tail; not helped by the fact that Full Band flying a twin tailed aircraft means you wouldn't be able to see the strikes from a pursuing position. And why did Bandog pick Count? Well, he's the last remaining hothead who'd relish the chance to score the last kill and one-up Trigger for once. That kind of excitement would help negate any chance of him stopping to visually ID his target (and let's face it, it's not like Trigger does regardless of who's playing him).
    It's heinous, but IMO Bandog gave Full Band plenty of warnings and invitations to shut his mouth. Full band could've easily survived if he was a little more aware of what he's being told directly without needing to steal passwords to find it himself. And given that such snooping and leaking secrets is the same thing that got him stuck in Spare in the first place, he evidently wasn;t going to learn his lesson.
