The main issue is that you only see the colour change when you look at the sun at sunset/rise. What they should have done is made the whole sky change uniformly and then made it a bit more pronounced when looking at the sun.
This whole 'the sky is blue when looking just to the side of the sun and rapidly changes bright red/pink when turning' is too jarring as it currently is.

I think Minecraft has become a textbook example at this point of how NOT to bring feature parity across your games. Instead of adding the best features from each version to the other, they keep removing all the good features from one version (Windswept Savanna grass) and adding all the worst features from that version to the other (player reporting and overbearing moderation) instead. We had like 7 skeleton horses on our year old survival world until one day, when we logged on, they were ejected out of the boats. I was so mad because we had been collecting them for months. I had a Pillager Patrol stuck in boats at one of my bases. I had no plan for them, I just thought it was fun to race by them every time I entered my base. Then Mojang did whatever it was to get horses out of boats, and ANY mob that I had in a boat in every world I made got ejected from captivity. I didn't expect that to happen (because Pillagers aren't horses), so I couldn't get the Pillagers back in a boat before my armor with Thorns III took them out.

The textures are randomly rotated to reduce the appearance of texture tiling, which is usually considered ugly when it affects organic textures like grass and dirt.

    • @elijahsmall5873
      @elijahsmall5873 10 месяцев назад +55

That’s what I figured. It does make the textures seem less repetitive and more natural when placed next to each other which I like. It’s definitely a subjective feature and can be considered bad or good depending on who you ask.

    • @Jansenbaker
      @Jansenbaker 10 месяцев назад +52

It's also a cool thing that texture pack creators have taken advantage of to create variety in the world. They made it so the "rotated" textures are actually a slightly different, but noticeably different texture.
Some dirt has rocks, some wood has weathering, some grass has sticks.
It definitely should not be removed.

Page 1 is strength 1, page 15+ is full strength, page 5 is 5 strength etc. One redstone parity change they COULD make is letting you use redstone components underwater in Java

Not because it’s impossible to deal with (the AI is a buggy mess that likely only took a day to code.) but because it just doesn’t really add to the game other than adding an even more annoying hunger bar. It also seems that nobody loves the Warden, even though it’s a very high effort mob that really had a lot of care put into it unlike the Phantom. The Phantom is literally the epitome of what Minecraft should not be- a game that forces you to play a certain way and makes several play styles terrible. Honestly the Warden needs more fans because unlike the Phantom the dev who coded the Warden actually put effort into it.

If I want to see coordinates on Java I have to use a debug screen full of information I don't need, that covers 75% of the screen in moving white text. It's nice to have the debug screen as an option, but having another way to see only coordinates without a ton of information covering the screen would be great. On the other hand, bringing features like being able to see what biome you are in to bedrock would be great as well.

    USES FOR PAPERDOLL:
I actually have a few uses for the paperdoll. If ur in a dangerous situation, such as loads of hostile mobs fighting u and u hear something break, like an armour piece, rather than having to open ur inventory and taking a tonne of damage and possibly dying, u can run away and look at the paper doll to see which armour piece has just broken so that when u go to equip another one u can do it faster because you already know what needs to be made and repaired. This works well as the paperdoll shows up when u sprint, sneak, swim or crawl so if u r running away quickly from dangerous mobs you can check what armour u have equipped. Aslo if u wanna know what you look like to other players… ig u can use the paper doll lol??? It’s kinda like a replacement in pocket edition from not being able to quickly change to third person mode ig. (I aslo don’t know if this works because never tried it but maybe it could be useful if u r invis??? Idk if it shows the player on the paper doll or not lol but if it doesnt then u can see when the invis runs out ig although u would see that anyway, and if it does show the player then u can see whether u r sneaking so that when it runs out no one will see ur name tag before u drink another pot or retreat, and aslo the paper doll could be used to see any visual indicators when ur invis to show signs that ur there, eg maybe u forgot to take off ur shield and then if u didn’t see it on the paper doll u would’ve completely forgot, although this is a bad example because u can see shields anyway, but maybe for armour, idk just feels like it can help u not forget stuff as easily lol.)

My thoughts on each change as a Java player:
Coloured water - Please add to Java.
Dyed water cauldrons - Meh. Don't really care, but prefer the current Java method.
Potion cauldrons - Again, meh. Rather wouldn't have it but if it came to Java it wouldn't upset me.
Fallen trees - Please add to Java
Dying trees - it's ok as long as vines don't get out of control
Bedrock block placing mechanics - Please add to Java!
Skeleton horse mechanics - Eh. Bedrock's mechanic doesn't make sense.
Baby aquatic mobs - Don't care but would rather have it than it removed from Bedrock
Movable block entities - PLEASE MOJANG ADD TO JAVA
Snow mechanics - Please add to Java
Coordinates - Java is fine the way it is with this.
Bone meal on sugar cane - Java's fine the way it is.
Grass Path Silk Touch - Please add to Java.
Armour Stand Arms - You should be able to choose whether they have arms or not.
Armour Stand Poses - should be more customisable on both editions.
Cakes stacking - Wouldn't be mad if it got added to Java
Potion of Decay - Well, it's already a creative-only thing. So you could just use commands to get it.
Desert well chances - Like Java mechanics the way it is.
Rarer nether fortresses - Make it between the two. They are way too common on Java and too rare on Bedrock.
3d fishing bobber - Should be made smaller but I do like it
Sponges drying out - Annoying cause then you can't build with them in certain biomes
Leads on walls and boats - Yes please.
Strongholds under villages - I like strongholds the way they are on Java
Netherrack portal base - It would be cool to make netherrack renewable
Drowned and ghast eyes glowing - Wait Java drowneds' eyes don't glow? Also ghasts' eyes glowing looks weird.
Two page lecterns - Would cause problems with redstone. Prefer it is kept the same on Java.
Sheared sheep colours - Makes sense, but Bedrock sheared sheep are SO UGLY
Dead coral - Wait again, that's not in Java?
Paper doll - it's cool, as long as they make it toggleable.
Bamboo in sparse jungle - nah.
Buttons on walls and fences - this was cool, why was it removed from Bedrock?
Bells - Wait for a third time, Didn't realise this wasn't in Java!
Dye shulkers - You should be able to do this in survival too on both editions
Skeleton melee - Yeah, please fix on Java, they literally just shoot themselves and it's really dumb.
Small flower bone meal - I like Java mechanics because it gives flower forest a use, and the gradient is too cool to ruin.
Fishing rod durability - Like Java the way it is. I mean, you usually you have Mending and you get XP from fishing anyways, so is more durability really necessary?
Empty Map - It would be nice to have a map without the little character icon!
Baby zombie jockeys - It would be cool if it was SUPER rare, like 0.01%. Otherwise it would just be like oh. ok. why does that exist?
Sky differences - I like the sky differences on Bedrock, as long as it doesn't wreck the nostalgia I get from playing Java
Phantoms - they do need a buff on Java. Maybe split the difference.
Nether caves without lava- THIS IS SO ANNOYING on Java. Please remove.
Nether forest generation - They are a disaster on Java. Doesn't help that hoglins can hit from behind walls.
Less tall grass - Yes please. I hate tall grass.
Random rotated textures - some look weird (magma block, terracotta, etc) but others look cool
Lack of combat changes - I prefered 1.8 combat and still do to this day, so if they'd finally implement the combat test snapshots I'd appreciate it.

The potion of decay which is usually a creative item can be obtained in survival on BE from witch hut cauldrons, which is a fun Easter egg and should come to java. Also, with a full potion cauldron, you can turn arrows into tipped arrows with none of that hassle with lingering potions.

11:09 this is easily to be explained: In bedrock, especially on PS4 with controller, there sometimes are movement bugs in which you cannot really tell if you're walking, running etc, bcz over the time your Controllersticks can drift. The Avatar can help you, for example when flying, to realise your current movement, so you have a better chance reacting to it early.

I believe that the placing blocks in front feature is a holdout from the pocket edition days as sprint used to be held down with a button and not togglable on touch controls, which made it hard to sneak over edges to place blocks whilst holding down the sneak button at the same time. Removing it would make phone players' lives worse however given that Microsoft seems dedicated to removing useful features in the name of "parity" I highly doubt that forward placement is a lamb too sacred for them to slaughter.

1:10 campfires setting entities on fire was not for 5 updates in bedrock. This bug started in 1.16.100, so it was only 3 major updates.
4:15 that's how it is on Console Edition since TU60! You can dye leather armor and leather horse armor via crafting and via cauldron.

I can't comment on all things you mentioned, but one thing I want to say is that making some immovable objects suddenly movable by pistons could break worlds/bases/contraptions in unexpected ways. While that's a cool thing in bedrock, idk if it's a good idea to change it in Java

    • @ShaimingLong
      @ShaimingLong 4 месяца назад

This seems to be the way the Java team operate, afraid to break thing because the larger player base will be very vocal about it, while the smaller Bedrock player base is typically more casual so there's much less outcry and those that do speak up are too few to be a problem.

As a Java player who is just now learning about the existence of the Paper Doll in Bedrock, my gut feeling is that its main function is to allow the player to see their own skin. I almost exclusively play singleplayer, so for years I've had literally no reason to change my skin from the default Steve. Just a few months ago I decided to make a custom one, just for fun, but still, for 99% of the time I never get to see it. So I guess the Paper Doll is kinda nice for this kind of situation haha!

Two features currently exclusive to bedrock I am genuinely worried about them choosing the Java version are the Wither and Bonemealable sugar cane.
When someone Asked on Twitter when are we on Java going to get bonmealable Sugar Cane Kingbdogz responded. "We don't want all crops to be bonemealable."
Also when it comes to parity my viewe has always been I support it within reason. with features being carefully considered that do both communities want a specific feature on both or do they like the feature they have on the version they play and want it unchanged. Making everything the same on both versions without any input from both communities just feels like a sure fire way to annoy people. for example while I would love the above features on Java the stronghold generation and the nether portal generation I don't want as a Java player.

On Java, you can get invisible item frames because they’re entities. I’m not much of a Java player so I’m not sure on the specifics of how it works but this would improve the game, considering how ugly item frames look, it feels like I should just be able to hang the item I want on a wall without the ugly item frame behind it.
