Does he at least mention the loading issues for bedrock on consoles (Nintendo Switch being the worst often taking 2-5 minutes to fully load in Minecraft and Microsoft along with skins and marketplace). Also the timing issues with redstone which causes the inability for creation of flying machines in bedrock (100% fixable by the way where RUclipsrs claimed this isn't fixable and had no clue what they were saying). Corrupt world files in bedrock edition from the Microsoft Minecraft store/ marketplace. Most issues with bedrock are the fact mojang is now a stock owned company by Microsoft. Same goes for the performance in java, however the bedrock has also had extremely high performance drops in consoles and PC though less noticeable on PC. (Just had this comment come back in my notifications. Wanted to say some good news, in the bug reports Mojang has finally acknowledged that Redstone is completely wrong in the bedrock and they are going to fix it at an unscheduled update.... And it took how many reports for this acknowledgement... After all legacy console and bedrock are programmed in C++ and legacy console versions of Minecraft had proper redstone.)

Some of the issues with performance mods are copyright reasons. There was a deal with Optifine a few years ago that fell through because Mojang only wanted the performance aspects.
But yeah, a large part of the divide between Java and Bedrock is preferences and familiarity rather than quality. As I've gained a taste for redstone I've essentially anchored myself to the version I learned it in; not because it's better but because it takes a huge commitment to understand the system.

On the note of performance: There's a lot that can be improved in Minecraft's code without hurting gameplay in the slightest, mods are doing what Mojang needs to do, however I won't call them lazy, it's a management issue that's holding them back from doing these things themselves, nothing more, nothing less.

Standing in a massive lush cave or just cave or ravine in general and being able to see every block and how vast the world looks really makes it feel more adventurous and increases the curiosity. Bedrook has no structures in superflat, no hardcore mode, not biome-only worlds, etc. The point is Mojang is basically coding everything twice and working through different sets of bugs. The optifine and Sodium mods change the game by allowing the JavaScript to access multi core functionality.
Java allows only a single core to process everything. It makes the game a multi core operating environment.
It changes KEY aspects to the functionality of the game though. Like removes Volumetric fog and other effects and replaces them with low quality versions or “rendering” ghosts.
It basically takes everything that’s far away and loads a psudo version of it that has no actual game data other than visual data. And when you get close it switches it to the “actor” or actual thing that the game calls for.

And even if you don't there's options to add mods that quickly let you access the mod folder to add mods in game. There's also mods that do allow for one-click multiplayer every similar to bedrock which even can be installed via the near seemless curseforge, the one I use is called the essentials mod and it's pretty vanilla friendly.
My setup is basically just a few performance mods plus the essentials mod for the vanilla gaming experience with Java that I have always wanted. It even somehow runs better than bedrock on my laptop because bedrock apparently doesn't know what to do with the i9-12900h and RTX 3070 ti inside.

@@0grey0 My previous laptop only had a GTX 1650 and a mid-range mobile Ryzen from a few generations ago (can't remember the exact chip, but it wasn't high end) and it could run modded Minecraft just fine at 8-16 chunks in like 1.16, which was the current latest version of the game the last time I played on it. It would have to be some really dated or low end laptop not designed for gaming to have significant issues running java at least 8 chucks (the minimum at which I think is reasonably playable), especially with the correct mods and settings.
Yes, bedrock can run better at higher render distances, but the input lag this adds to the game is really noticeable on more recent versions and the engine doesn't utilize high end hardware nearly as well because what I can best describe as engine limitations or poor resource optimizations, it's bad enough that my newest laptop somehow runs the bedrock edition worse than my previous one did. As a matter of fact, my laptop even before that one which had an i3 and uhd 620 integrated graphics, ran bedrock almost as good as my second one did despite having a HDD and only 8Gbs of cheap single channel memory.
I know bedrock has it's place, however java edition is the best my opinion in terms of mods, and it has much more options in terms of tweaking to get the most out of your experience.

Coming from a Java player who has also personally played Bedrock, I think Bedrock is weird. I've been playing Java since 2014, and that's what I know and love. for me personally, Bedrock looks weird. idk if it's just the lighting or whatnot. I can see why people like Bedrock. Bedrock is better for lower-end pcs while Java is better for videography and RUclips/streaming. There are pros and cons to both. Honestly, idk why Microsoft just chooses to make these games so different in the first place. I understand that WHEN the iphone was about as powerful as a Ti-84, but most phones can handle dang near anything now. I don't see why these versions OF THE SAME GAME are so different. there is no tradeoff with the good performance mods, just that mojang, itty bitty small indie studio that they are, are too lazy to implement these changes from open source mods.
sodium/rubidium make client performance buttery smooth
lithium/canary optimize tons of things and can almost halve server tick times
phosphor/radon massively improve lighting performance and fix tons of lighting bugs
saturn and ferritecore make minecraft, particularly modded, use way less memory
    krypton/pluto improve networking
lazyDFU stops the game from setting up all the tools to upgrade a world between versions *every time you play*
and none of these mods change anything whatsoever to how the game works. you could drop these into any world and everything would work the same just run better.
and there are also mods like Alternate Current which make redstone dust more efficient and its update order actually understandable.
and every single mod i just listed is completely open source. there's no excuse that mojang just doesnt know how to do it
and mojang *has* brought on several mod developers to work with them, and they even tried to merge optifine into vanilla at some point and it just didnt happen cause the author is an egomaniac high off his own farts and didnt wanna do it cause mojang didnt want the zoom feature. none of this would happen because the authors of these mods are well-adjusted people, and as opposed to optifine, again, all these mods are open source

When I played Java with friends, we had to do a bunch of workarounds and next update it all broke bc of the mods and we couldn’t use the world anymore. Stuff like waystone mods are super nice since a five minute trip to the fortress & my ancient cities in our realm is annoying but it’s worth it to know my world is actually backed up, saved and won’t get corrupted so easily.
Still, even playing bedrock half of the time I’ve gotten so many rude comments from people saying “well there’s your problem” whenever I ask for help in something.

As a person who moved from bedrock to Java, trying to do anything professionally is such a pain on bedrock, no litematica, no QOL mods, less options. It’s a pain when you want to make anything fancy anywhere or tune it for you, it’s a pain. Less mod capability on bedrock, no building plugins, worse commands. Anything to do on bedrock that requires building anything in creative or a map, bedrock is my last choice. With terrible commands, slower building, and more bugs you need to iron through it’s just a pain. Though I do give server hosting to bedrock, it’s 6x more efficient to host on the newest version. However for said servers your anticheat needs to be leagues better (and most aren’t) compared to Java. On bedrock you can straight up give yourself items and teleport around the world. But on a survival side, bedrock is ok. It’s bearable but anything to do with farms on bedrock is just terrible, it’s slower, bigger, and less efficient, poor redstone, poor rates. I personally don’t like the PVP on bedrock too much either, they have half of the Java PVP features with their spam clicking PVP, with shield disabling (and shields by themselves on bedrock) it isn’t really as balanced as it is on Java. If there are any other bedrock players I’d be happy to see your side on my points.

    • @Zer0_2199
      @Zer0_2199 2 года назад +1

I hope I don't sound too toxic but as a bedrock player myself I think you're making things sound worse then they actually are. For example in your comment you talk a lot about modding but as a casual player (most Bedrock players are) I don't really care about mods and am happy with the ones we have, I have texture packs, great behaviour packs and much more which makes everything you said was bad much better, Mojang is already working on modding capabilities for Bedrock and soon we might have even better mods and (maybe) rival Java, also I've built many farms in my life and none of them have been too big or slow. Going on to your take on commands, I am kind of mad about how bad the Commands are on Bedrock but I don't think they're 'terrible', We can do (almost) everything that Java can Do but it might take a few more steps. Also let's remember that Java PVP used to be like Bedrocks and that many people in the Java community like the old style and may even move over to Bedrock for it. I have played on Bedrock for ages and have never found a problem with the PVP and think that there is no real Spam-Click aspect since just spamming will let the opponent get an opening on you. I have played Bedrock sincere I was a child and find most of the things you said are very minor issues to me but I guess people who have Laptops and PCs are used to having stronger more powerful systems and better games and aren't used to the more optimised, more open versions. hope I didn't seem to mean in that and if I did, sorry lol.

What you're really saying is that you don't like Minecraft when you complain about mods not existing. Just stop playing if you don't like the game. Stop forcing yourself to do things you hate.

This was on a friend’s PC, which has an i5 12400f, RTX 3060 combination. Did have optifine on Java btw, and Shaders too. Looked and felt amazing.

@@titans2720 I mean, I think they can. I have a $300 Series S and, before it was patched, I put an addon that would allow you to run Minecraft at 120fps (normally runs at 60). It ran perfectly, no frame drops, and at max render distance too (28 chunks on Xbox). So for sure it would be able to run at the very least at 1080p 60fps with Ray Tracing. As for the Series X and PS5, they are even more powerful. I mean, even the Xbox One & PS4 were supposed to have the Super Duper Graphics Pack which ended up being cancelled. Those are last-gen consoles. So yeah, they are 100% more than capable enough. These consoles are sold at a loss, made up for in Xbox Live Gold & PS+ membership monthly revenue, so they are much more powerful than you may think. A $300 Series S is equivalent to a PC worth $750-$850 at least.
The Ray Tracing was also demoed multiple times in 2020 on the Series X, where it ran flawlessly, before then being cancelled after the release of the next-gen systems. I am a mod junkie so the idea of using mods such as Create made me switch to Java right away after i had an opportunity to try it out but i do have respect for players that are enjoying the game as is. I have conditioned myself to the idea that my modpack is the most superior way to play the game which holds me back most of the time and ties me to older versions of the game. Updating a hurdle of 100+ mods that is my modpack is quite a task as you can imagine, so i have to wait a millennia until most of the mods are ported to newer versions of the game and furthermore until i am not lazy enough to update it. And yes, the performance is comparable to the health condition of a dying disabled elderly drug addict that is going through a withdrawal and an overdose at the same time. My game is on life support at this point although i have cleaned up a bunch of mods recently. The poor performance was the initial reason i chose to opt for bedrock instead, but after they had merged both versions and i received Java for free, it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. Well, at least until i have discovered mods. Despite all of this, the Create mod along with others bring thousands of possibilities in the game so i don't think i am missing out on much. The only reasons i strive to update to 1.19.3/1.20 are the inventory tweaks they have implemented. Not much but making Java's absolutely horrible creative inventory a little bit tolerable is a price to pay even if it means i will have to abandon some of the mods and spend ages sorting them.

    A. they cant use modded code directly, any optimisations have to be found and implemented by the mojang team.
    B. if they spent effort making java perform better, it would make bedrock look worse.
Also, on top of having the advantage of being able to take advantage of multiple CPU cores, bedrock makes a bunch of compromises of its own (consistent redstone/hopper interactions being one of them) in order to achieve its better performance
I want bedrock to be able to supercede java edition, but it wont. Microsoft wont put effort into the UX, they wont put effort into making the Marketplace better, they wont put effort into the small details that add up to make bedrock seem half-baked because none of that directly contributes to increasing the playerbase or increasing how much money that playerbase is putting into the game. While bedrock is great for its accessibility to pretty much all platforms, I would always choose Java over bedrock due to its impeccable versatility. You choose how you play!

I think the Marketplace is not a good argument. First nobody forces you to use to marketplace or to buy something.
Second there is a lot of free stuff to find at the Marketplace. And third. I compare the Marketplace with any kind of ingame shop that we have today. Games like Skyrim, or Fallout 4. Or assassins creed or any other game. Yo buy credits with real money, and with those credits you can purchase a mod in the shop or something.
But is dont care. I pay for good mods or addons. You know its save to download or install. Its not malicious or something. and you support the devs.

@@robertm3205That’s not true. If you play on Bedrock, you MUST use the marketplace if you want mods.
Your argument for the marketplace being good because some stuff is free is a moot point because ALL Java mods are free

@@Snaxolotl71 Well if someone wants to pay for mods let him pay. If someone want only free mods play Java. Its just as simple as that.

For most of my life I've played Bedrock edition, but within the past 2 years I switched to Java edition. I love Java edition so much more to be honest, and the points you bring up are great. However, I have on simple problem with Java, and that is the performance. Mods like Optifine are becoming more and more necessary to even play it. This was a big problem back during 1.18 and 1.19, but now that 1.21 is out and I have a different PC I've started having problems with it. Its not that my PC sucks, since I can play other games that require much more resources to run just fine. This is a minecraft specific issue, and there are very few fixes other than mods. The fixes that do exist are also specific to what kind of PC you use and other factors.

I play Java, and I agree with everything you said in this video. Bedrock is were we started for some of us (like me) and Bedrock still needs some people like you to keep it alive. Both are great versions and all of you are welcome to have your own opinions. If you feel like Java isn’t for you, that’s fine! I from the Java community still likes the Bedrock community as much as you guys do. If you ever change your mind, the Java community welcomes you!

I originally played on my Xbox 360, transitioned to p.e. On my phone and now I play p.e. With my Xbox controller. I love playing with controller I hope to try Java with controller support, but I need to work a few kinks before that’s possible. This video was really quite refreshing and made me realise that liking my controller support is okay

2:34 What you mark as bad, is called a REAL Combat System.
I never heared people complaining in other Games, when spamming doesn't help them.

Ok then, stop playing Hypixel. That’s the kind of combat it uses.

It's not necessarily bad but it's inconsistent. Bedrock makes it more simple to just play through while java makes it slightly more complex to avoid that like crits. From his perspective he thought he only needs to stay back and attack til each mob dies rather then go near and click occasionally on each one. Also probably doesn't make it easier with fov difference.

I am a Java player. Always have been, always will be.... I've played Bedrock before on console and pc but I'm just a Java player... just how it goes.
But I love watching Toy Cat and his adventures on Bedrock. Also, I really like being knowledgeable about both versions because of Toy Cat.
Whatever version makes you happy is great.... We just like Minecraft.

I wouldnt mind playing bedrock more if modpacks and stuff were actually being full scale developed for bedrock. The only thing they have is marketplace stuff which turns everyone away from it

Yeah…I’ve noticed that a lot of PC players (myself included) don’t really like the idea of paying for mods. Or at least of being forced to pay for mods.
For me, part of it is philosophy. You should be modding a game because you love it, not to make a quick buck. Forcing people to pay for mods incentivizes low-quality mods designed to make money, rather than the high-quality mods people make on Java because they love the game. That said, there are a couple of Marketplace items that have been tempting me.
