    How to develop your forehand flick:
    Tip 1
    Forehand is one of the hardest if not the hardest stroke to execute at the height level, which is why footwork is crucial. you must step in properly to enable yourself to flick positively.
    Tip 2
    Timing point look to hit the ball in and around top of the bounce
    Tip 3
    adapting your grip and finding what suits you best, different grips will give you different capabilities.

    Perhaps address the issue of accurately reading the spin on the serve so you can determine whether or not the ball is "flickable" ... or address exactly how (or if) to flick a medium to heavy, short to medium length downspin serve. I know it can be done on the backhand or on a penhold forehand fairly easily ... but forehand shakehand is another matter.

    Something I'm actively working on. Sometimes I seem to just block when trying to execute a flick - which does not work out well if I received a ball with backspin. But I am improving so keep up the great tutorial videos.

    When should I choose to do this stroke and against what levels of height, spin is it even possible to do this stroke and is there any point when one should go for this instead of a fh topspin?

    Actually got an unrelated question: when the index finger is so high on that rubber. That's the grip I use. Does it have a name? I couldn't find an answer.

    • @YouBrokkoli
      @YouBrokkoli 4 года назад

      Having the index finger that far up is associated with the 'forehand grip', although this is indeed a rather extreme variant. Players who use such a grip are typically going to be forehand dominant while struggling with their backhand. Pros typically change their grip between forehand and backhand, putting pressure on the rubber with their thumb for backhand strokes and their index finger when playing forehand strokes.

      IMHO, squeezing helps in backhand loop too. and forehand/backhand serves. almost everywhere when you need extra sping.

    How much underspin was in those serves? I personally struggle with flicking only heavy underspin balls. And in the video it looked like quite the flat hit flick and not so much a brushing motion. How much brushing vs. hitting do you feel you usually do? I understand that thats somewhat dependent on the incoming ball.
