My ideal conference setup is 8 10 team conferences, who play round robin, with the 8 conference winners going on to play in an 8 team playoff. B1G/BIG XII in the Orange Bowl, PAC 10/MWC in the Fiesta Bowl, SWC/SEC in the Cotton Bowl and Big East/ACC in the Peach Bowl. Winner of the first two games face off in the Rose Bowl Semifinal, and the latter two in the Sugar Bowl Semifinal. Winner of each plays in the national championship: Big East: Boston College, Syracuse, Rutgers, Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Miami (FL) ACC: Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State B1G: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame BIG XII: Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Colorado State SEC: Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Florida SWC: Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, SMU, Houston, Rice, Arkansas, Memphis MWC: Utah, Utah State, BYU, Arizona, Arizona State, Nevada, UNLV, Boise State, Wyoming, New Mexico PAC: Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, USC, UCLA, San Diego State, Fresno State.
Great video bro, I am a Seminole and I had always loved the ACC, i always understood we were a basketball conference and I liked that FSU was pushing to improve other sports, but for the ACC to lay down to ESPN and not back the biggest football brand in the conference was a slap in the face. I hate where college football is now and sadly it’s not going to get better anytime soon.
Great video, but I think the 2010s realignment section glosses over the fact that the LHN was the reason Texas A&M left, with the other 3 schools leaving because of UT’s shenanigans
Love this idea! I've been a life long college football fan like many of you- spent many years playing NCAA Football on my PS2 and 360, woke up at 8 am every Saturday to catch College Gameday, and even been lucky enough to attend my favorite school and it's games in Norman cheering on my Oklahoma Sooners. Lots of things are changing and I hope that eventually we'll get to a place similar to one of you guys' idea. By the way, what was the song you used in the outro? Edit: Just looked up the lyrics and found the song. Current Joys - A Different Age.
Hating Maryland has earned you a sub from a fellow ACC fan. Can you be a fan of a conference? Don't know, all I know is that 'beat State' is in my Blue Devil's fight song for a reason, it happens all the time.
NCAA just feels like minor league football with an academic facade. It is soulless. Rivalries barely matter, conferences have no rhyme or reason, players move schools too much, most of the players take courses that are easier than highschool classes, etc..
The GPAC (sort of) already exists, in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). My husband’s alma mater is part of that conference. Fun fact: Washington’s current coach both played & coached at the University of Sioux Falls when it was still in the GPAC, before it moved to NCAA Div. II’s Northern Sun Conference.
In my opinion the best system for sports is the European Football system where teams are constantly being promoted and relegated. This system has major clubs have major relevancy but doesn’t forget about the smaller clubs due to there rising power and quest to the major league
Sociology PhD student studying conference realignment here! Really good work with this video. Can you share the rivalry network somehow? Definitely want to take a look at that.
A dream scenario is fine, but how do we get there? What would force schools/conferences to not look out for their own interests? It's going to take either congressional pressure or legal pressure to force conferences to think about things other than money.
I understand from your perspective it wasn't a big deal, but the big east was a power conference and its downfall was nothing to gloss over. the big east was insane in football for the decades it was there, and the ACC was the absolute villain that took it away.
I am sorry but these predictions are way off. The most valuable team to the B1G and SEC is UNC. I am sorry if this offends an NCState fan. If the ACC collapses they will be target number 1. As you said, realignment has always been about money, yet you disregarded that the ACC makes and will continue to make more revenue than the big 12. No team has gotten out of a GOR even Texas and Oklahoma did not get out of the big 12 GOR. FSU might be able to negotiate down to a lower 500 million+ buyout number but it will still be a more than half a billion dollar buyout to the ACC to reload from the Big 12 whose contract runs out in 2030. It seems more likely that the ACC raids the B12 with buyout money and makes the best of the rest conference out of the B12. I am a GT fan so trust me I know the dynamics of the ACC as well as you do. The PAC collapse was a unique failure not a repeatable phenomenon.
What honestly will happen is: SEC adds FSU & Clemson, ACC adds Tulane, Uconn, Notre dame (FB), Big XII adds SDSU & USF, and Finally Mountain west adds Oregon State & WSU.
A conference is gonna collapse because they went from 18(including ND) to 14? When the big 12 went all the way down to 8 and STILL made it? I wouldn’t bet on that.
You said you are an engineer. I have been practicing engineering for a very long time. With the way you are thinking, I would fire you day one. Dude do you know how much money UCLA, USC, Washington and Oregon are getting in the Big 10? Yeah right, they are going back to peanuts.
Dang it's almost like I addressed this concern directly and said that's why it's the least likely of all the scenarios I came up with. Being a good listener goes a long way as an engineer too 😉
Dalukes proposal was rock solid a great way to preserve what makes college football great!
I’m a huge Dalukes fan, so when I saw this I clicked ASAP! Y’all didn’t let me down! You earned my follow broski💯❤️🔥
Love this channel and all the college football what-if secenarios! I loved Dalukes's idea for the conference realignment, it made too much sense!!
Enjoyed it, guys! I tend to agree that your scenarios are better than what we ultimately will see.

So underrated, you post such good quality videos

YEAAAAH TEMPLE IN THE BIG TEN!!! 18:13
A wonderfully made video
Notre Dame can't join the bigten because they don't have an agricultural department

Not me creating Dalukes conferences in NCAA fb
Does anyone know the name of the song that starts playing at 1:32 ? Also loved this vid, just subscribed 🎉
Home - We're Finally Landing. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@daltonsideasthank ya!
Why the ending remind me of the credits of a sports movie based on a true story
I feel your hate for Maryland after yesterday's music city bowl.

I could see the UConn joining the ACC in football only, since the program is independent now. But basketball has to stay in the Big East
11:21 and that's where you're wrong, kiddo.
What tool did you use to make the circle and line graph for all of the rivalries? I wouldn't mind doing that myself
@ 17:14 in the video
W collab
28:17 it’s enough to make a grown man cry

Why did Luke not mention preserving 5 dollar bits of broken chair

why would oregon state and washington state go down to G5
@@BonesJonesIdkmainly because the power 4 doesn't have any interest in them, and it's next to impossible to revive the PAC.
What about Wash St and Or St? 😮
To the mountain west.
Should be a power 4 east west north and south
The MAC is indeed God’s perfect creation
As a Wazzu fan, that title is wrong. There’s no hope.

ND won’t join Big 10. We tried before and were blackballed.
Notre Dame can stay Independent in football forever
First
As time goes on, I’m more convinced that college football is not going to last. Ten years from now I predict no more college football.
