- Greetings, Historians! Today, I'll be discussing... a very strange set of connections that can be made from two characters in Skylanders, and how Spyro is canon to more things than Crash because of it.

I like how Kaos unknowingly connected Spyro, Crash, Skylanders, and Pizza Hut to the multiverse! All because he wanted the powers of The Darkness and to rule Skylands.
I think I heard some time ago about a theory that says all the video games are in a single multiverse due to each one having references to others which eventually all ties up, you could just keep going and it will never end. Although I don't think it's true because there are games with no references at all, so they can't be tied to anything else.
Yeah, with this I tried to look for actual canonical ties, and since some crossovers aren't canon or some games don't have any real ties it gave does sort of prove your point. I think I heard the theory that everything is tied in awhile ago though, maybe a few years back, not sure
Here’s my lore opinion: Spyro, Cynder, and Sparx (Dragon Realms) came to Skylands by a portal from Master Eon. Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong (Donkey Kong Island) and Bowser (Mushroom Kingdom), Kaos’s rift portals. And Crash, Aku Aku, Cortex, and Uka Uka (Wumpa Island) after the Skylanders help stop the bad vibes and Fake Crash. I guess you can even count Malefor.

Yes! I've been saying this and wanting this for years! Once LotD mentioned Donkey Kong and Bowser, I immediately thought about how that crossover is possible thanks to Sora finally getting into Smash Bros. 🥰 I've been playing both game series since I was 6 and got the games (TLoS: A New Beginning, KH & KHII) from my brother, so I would cry tears of joy if this happened. This also means there's a solid chance that our purple boy will become a future Smash Bros. fighter too. 👀

I actually have a theory that Sonic and Spyro have existed in the same Universe
In order for the information we need to go to The Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon and Sonic Unleashed.
Both games have the world split into pieces and according to Sonic Unleashed, it wasn't the 1st time the planet broke apart. The main antagonist of both games are in strange locations, Spyro and Malefor died at the Core of the planet and Dark Gaia and Chip were born at the Core of the planet (Exact Same Place). Its just a theory but I believe I found a connection between Sonic and Spyro, Sonic could have potentially helped defeat the Reincarnation of Malefor with the Reincarnation of Spyro.
I know it's Vague but I believe I could find more information to further prove.
Spyro did not die at the end of dawn of the dragon you see both Spyro and cynder flying together in the valley of avalar and ignitus becomes the next chronicler you see this at the end of the credits

I would've never known that Donkey Kong and Bowser made an appearance in Skylanders, that's awesome! As soon as you mentioned them, I immediately thought of Smash Bros. and how a real Spyro & Kingdom Hearts crossover is possible. As a fan of both franchises since I was 6 years old, that's literally a childhood dream come true. 🧡 Crossovers with other franchises like Pokemon and even Undertale is wild to me too, and I didn't even consider Fortnite. Technically, Fall Guys too (there were Sonic skins and prob way more references I'm not mentioning). 👀

The moment you said Donkey Kong, this theory already connects into Nerdist's theory of 150 connected cartoons which also connects to the Tommy Westphall theory of 400+ connected live action TV shows.

It would be hilarious if one of the rifts transport Spyro and Cynder in the the Alien universe. And there they meet Ripley and the other characters. I could image Reply with her modifide pulsrifle and Spyro purging hords of xenos with his fire breath. And oh s*it Wey-Yu if they discover them. Bytw the Alien series have dragons as well (in the comics).

I believe the actual reason why donkey kong and bowser are in skylands was because of the interdimensional rift from final fantasy I mean the rift is like a hotel but the rooms are gates to other worlds in my opinion the rift is connected to all the world's of Sony Nintendo Sega capcom and many other world's there was even two final fantasy crossover with mario like the secret boss from super mario rpg and 5 final fantasy characters from a sports games from the ds and wii so maybe somehow bowser and donkey Kong where drag by the rift and land in skylands and who knows there are more secrets in the rift then we know I'm mean ff7 is now own by Sony and I mean the remake one
We still need a product where all three versions of Spyro meet. Something similar to Spider-Man: No Way Home, or TMNT: Turtles Forever.

When TLoS Spyro is putting the world back together, he and his Cynder are saved at the last instant by a rift engine, where he meets the Reignited and Skylanders Spyros who have already met up due to Eon accidentally opening a portal to the classic universe when he's just trying to help Skylanders Spyro find his family. That way, we could get all their gameplay styles and every fan would get something out of it. (Except for the most notorious of purists).
And if we EVER get Spyro in Smash, it has to be all three. In order to make the moveset unique and creative, it will have to use a lot of TLoS abilities seeing as the other versions had very few abilities (most of which other fighters already have or could easily be mimicked by spirits)
What about Ratchet and Clank.
Hello spyro fan i am cited spyro 4 and also i got a idea cynder own game cynder is villain this game like shadow the hedgehog and the grinch ps1. The game studs cynder make bed planks and steal things and make magic potions people into animals and people heads start to shrink and that my friends how start the game. I'd like it a lot better if you tried to do this topic without using explicit crossover games.
Sure maybe Fortnite wasn't that to begin with, but it's become that in the same vein as Smash or LittleBigPlanet.
I can tie Yoshi to Mortal Kombat because of guest appearances and cameos. I bet you can do that with Spyro. Let's see you try it!
I could’ve and I did at one point tie into a rather small cameo, although eventually I wanted to put an emphasis that there’s the possibility that it connects to these larger games and pieces of media. Tying myself to what is an actual canonical appearance also causes some issues, which is why certain connections like Mario being in Metal Gear isn’t in here, although it is an Easter egg. You could tie Spyro there, though the question remains if it’s actually canon, or just a cameo

We can go crazier. Remember that "everything is canon" comment with Sonic? Well Sonic's not the only one to do something like that, all Doom mods are canon to Doom. Now, there's a little fangame called Sonic Robo Blast 2, which is a modified form of Doom. so, SRB2, and every mod of it, is canon to both Sonic and Doom. And it just so happens that there's a Spyro mod. I dub this the Sonic-Doom megacontinuity. And we can go crazier. Kingdom Hearts is canon to Sonic through Smash Ultimate, and therefore canon to Spyro. As is Final Fantasy. This means that the Sonic-Doom megacontinuity contains two Sephiroths. And we can go crazier. A Ty the Tazmania Tiger add features both Sonic and Spyro. This means Classic and Skylander Spyro are theoretically able to meet. Not only that, but TLOS has a Crash frozen in the white isles, and since all versions of Crash share a multiverse, that ties all three playable Spyros into this. Plus the Academy episode to feature Crash makes for a fourth continuity. And Reignited is connected thanks to CTR Nitro Fueled, and officially has split from the classic continuity in Crash on the Run.
Now, let's think of some of the implications. For starters, if Kingdom Hearts is canon, then darkness has a habit of spreading as far as it can, which lines up with what we've seen. Another thing, there's like three completely different forms of time travel all existent in the same megacontinuity. Kingdom Hearts has two conflicting forms, and then Zelda has multiverse theory, and then Sonic has both cartoon time travel in CD and 06 *and* multiverse theory with Classic and Modern splitting. And yet another thing, since Dragon Ball is canon, it is theoretically possible for any two characters with a similar enough shape to fuse. (As long as they have ears for those earrings or are capable of the dance, that is. Sorry, Spyro.)
Bowser and Donkey Kong having trouble with pirates is simply ridiculous. That dumb ape punched his own moon into a volcano, and Bowser is nigh impossible to kill, can grow up to planetoid size, took over the stars and was making a new galaxy from scratch, and is a master of dark magic. Bowser would be warping the Skylands and Donkey Kong would be throwing islands like a gaint in miniature.
This is why I don't like the multiverse in media. It just becomes a convenient excuse. You really have to know exactly what you are doing to prevent it from becoming a mess.

It's worth stating the term "Everything is canon" mainly originates from an absolute joke of an offical encyclopedia for Sonic written by a man who openly admitted to barely playing the games themselves. However, because of the massive fan-rallying behind him he has managed to actually secure a position as a writer for the latest Sonic game, so we're see.
I remain incredibly skeptical of the "Everything is canon" statement. And don't really have the time or energy to waste with further arguements.
Yeah it’s fair to be skeptical of that in particular, though when making this it really was the only official statement I found, more just something I put in because I thought the video would be more fun that way. Not intending to argue over it either, ain’t worth it imo.
Oh God, multiverses give me such a headache 😂 more often than not, they come across as blatant corporate bragging over how many franchises they own or just plain mindless nostalgia bait cash grabs. I used to find the idea fascinating, but the novelty's quickly worn off and now they feel lazy, uninspired and cliche. To me, that and time travel undermines the stories themselves - their emotional weight and lore integrity is overshadowed by "oh well, they can just time travel to fix this" or "I think this is a different universe, therefore it's not canon". Not every franchise needs to be milked for every single possible product, you know? Sometimes it's nice to have something just be its own thing and leave the crossovers for fanfics, but that's just me 🤷🏻
Nah I getcha, I’m a bit… iffy on crossovers and how people tend to use multiverse stuff. I tend to think most stuff from a narrative perspective should forward the story, but that’s just my writing brain trying to make stuff in interesting, and have meaning I guess. This is something I wanted to talk about because it’s sort of those “it’s so ridiculous I wanna mention it,” sorta things. Kinda why I spend more time enjoying LotR or WoW at this point, don’t really have much in the way of good stand alone spyro stories coming out XD (seriously though I’m in immense pain and need good stories for Spyro)
