Scott did such an amazing tribute to Morrison's vocals on this special it so amazing he can take a cover make it his own and still make it sound almost identical to the original artists vision its truly incredible
NAILED IT!!! It's like he was channeling Jim! Amazing! It is going to be a while before we see anyone like Scott again. .....if ever...the 9 0's are officially dead now. R.I.P. Scott. Your gone but not alone
To even try to sing this is crazy...scott your a legend why do the great ones die so young. I saw stp at 2000 wbcn river rave. No question one of the greatest live bands ever.
Why do they die?... Usually the drugs or the fall-out from taking them. Scott's a classic example. It's a shame but its a well trodden path... Sadly. Rip Scott
You have to say, that Scott Weiland had one of the most versatile voices: at the beginning he sounded more like Eddie Vedder, here like Jim Morrison, than with velvet revolver Axl Rose and not to forget David Bowie in his solo stuff. That is amazing. And not only his voice, it is his whole expression, mimic and gesture. I think he liked to play the roles of other Rock stars.
Mike Patton is the most versatile vocalist I can think of. His vocal range is unsurpassed by any other rock singer & his talent for mimicking other singers is astounding. Of course this is just my opinion and doesn't belittle Scott or indeed, any other singers.
He sounds like Scott Weiland. Period. His voice transcends so many generations. When a vocalist sounds the same from his normal, yet the brain thinks he’s copying someone when they cover? Priceless. Absolutely phenomenal.
@ h19 ... I think your right, I’ve also thought that . I think he also did this when laying down vocal track. He just used whichever rockstars voice he thought would suit the song best. Genius move
@@youjoker9647 I appreciate your opinion and you are entitled to it. Respectfully though, as the statement goes...Mike Patton can't hold Scott Weilands water bottle!!
Great cover! I think it's because he's not trying to imitate Jim. He reflects Jim perfectly just through his own charisma. Such a pitty we won't be able to listen to Scot just like we can't listen to Jimbo :( R.I.P Jim, Scott and Ray
Jim would had been proud hearing this, who knows right now on the other side they both meet and Jim aplaud him and they sing together there at peace. RIP both singers in rock world.
Ugh I'm tired of people and the comparison! He is clearly not Jim but he nailed this song! Just enjoy the music, he did great and he's just reviving the music man. What more can you ask for?!
This footage is amazing! I saw Ray and Robbie in concert a couple of years ago, right before Ray passed. I also saw STP for the last time with Scott Weiland before they broke up. To see the best of both of my favorite bands merge is unbelievable. I'm so glad I found this. Rest in peace Scott and Ray.
Now who will fill his. Its a deep loss. I recently heard a couple of Rival Sons songs, its not in the style of Scott, but as far as new bands go it makes me feel better that there are some bands showing up that aren't totally fake and pre fab.
Scott was always an elusive combo of Jim and Bowie. As u said, few could do this any justice...Scott, even in whatever state he was in (I can’t recall what year this is from, but would guess mid to late 90’s, which were a struggle for Scott) proves himself capable. He’s about the only guy I could see reciting some off the cuff poetry of Jim’s at the end of the song and making it work
No joke, check out Jimmy Fallon (I hate him too, but someone showed me this.) ruclips.net/video/eBRYsAfchkY/видео.html AT least you'll laugh at the song! Pay that smile forward to another person. Do that everyday.
I am a HUGE doors fan. In my 20s i would've been one of the biggest Doors fans. And as good as they are, theyre not the best. Their first 2 albums are incredible though, they sre certainly one of the most original.
Absolutely I agree 200% it took me out when you said the Lizard King that hit me pretty good today's youth doesn't even know who the doors are they don't know who Led Zeppelin is and many more it's quite sad and a lack of history in today's youth I think they should be a music history class in every school without music communication and socializing what is what else is there in the world it's actually free
To everyone complaining about The Doors playing without Jim, take into consideration that the band makes The Doors, not just Jim. The fact that they got together to play another show is awesome. And throwing Weiland in the mix is a gateway to people who know him and don't know much about the Doors, and it brings real music back into the modern world where it's needed the most. So stop whining and enjoy the music, long live The Doors!!
+Shang Chunsong how about showing some damn respect? The man just died. It's a great loss not just to his fans and the music world but of course to his family and friends too. RIP Scott.
TrephineArtist Blow it out your ass Trephine, I'm a fan too, who cares, so what if he was super talented and sexy and a fine performer, his soul was dog shit and he didn't give a fuck about anybody but himself, that's why he couldn't get off the gear. Fuck him, his best was behind him and dying was the best thing he coulda done, maybe you should think aboput checking out sometime soon yourself. Don't fuck with me again.
I remember.. back in the days of Napster & Limewire it was very common for people to rename songs with the wrong title. If this would've been named the doors live [Jim Morrison] I wouldn't be half mad. Awesome cover! 🎵👏
Substituir o Jim não é uma missão das mais simples, ainda mais em uma música que ele gravou doidão de álcool, e o Scott conseguiu com maestria.. que Jim e Scott continuem descansando em paz.
Everyone who is saying that maybe Jim's soul entered Scott is wrong. I was shrooming in the mountains several years back and Jim Morrison came and talked to me when i was out of body...true story..his spirit is still alive. Maybe he just jumped into Scott's body that night
This comes from the doors storytellers and they had guests singers who were excited to play with the doors and the surviving members of the doors were so excellent that time since they are still my favorite band of 60's to the 70's and RIP Ray Manzarek and Scott Weiland
very good, he is doing the honors to jim´s place, you got to be very good to be singing with the doors, i really like, this is the best part of the trip jaja, all rigth!
As close to the Doors as it's possible to get, Densmore, Krieger, Manzarek and Weiland covering for Jim. Greetings everyone from my Justmadeit2 channl here in England
I think Scott is pretty damn good enough to tour with the doors in general...his voice blew me away in this song...
the best cover without Jim that I've heard
In 2021 too
He did a great job covering
But if they had Jim, it wouldn't be a cover 🤔
@@simonscrocher8695 ?¿….
Agreed
Damn Scott sounded amazing
Damn man. Scott owned this performance. This is amazing!
Scott Weilend was a fuckin genius, greatly missed, tears in my eyes for a sound that changed my teen years
God he's nailing this!!! Jim would be proud
Listen to STP's Atlanta. I honestly thought it was Morrison the first time I heard it.
The Best cover EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
This might be the most badass thing of all time
Man, Scott kills it. Still stays true to his own voice and style fitting perfectly into the doors
Scott puts so much more energy and charisma into these covers than anyone else
RIP Scott. You were amazing.
damn....he just flippin' nails this! Charismatic. ...RIP Scott. you honored Jim's memory proudly.
Scott did such an amazing tribute to Morrison's vocals on this special it so amazing he can take a cover make it his own and still make it sound almost identical to the original artists vision its truly incredible
Era davvero pazzesco
Who's the name of the singer?

I said the same thing.. he for sure channeled Jim.. what a great job.. and the band was amazing!! As usual
Robbie is killing it here

True!

perfect...i've seen other sing the doors, but none sounded as authentic as scott weiland

Val Kilmer sounded OK. All live recordings too. The film might be so so but his vocals were certainly decent.
Eddie Vedder did a great job also

H. 19 and the Christmas song he did, I forgot what it’s called, but he sings it like the crooners; Sinatra et al

You can definitely hear Jim's influence on Scott in a lot of STP songs. In my opinion he fucking nailed it.
Especially Atlanta.
Oh yeahhhh definately! I love the look of Ray Manzarek- sometimes in awe of watching Scott, or the memory of Jim still lives on!
Great cover! I think it's because he's not trying to imitate Jim. He reflects Jim perfectly just through his own charisma. Such a pitty we won't be able to listen to Scot just like we can't listen to Jimbo :( R.I.P Jim, Scott and Ray

+Rock Barbie Johansson For sure!
This is so fucking good
He should have been on the whole set. Love his music, miss him much.
+M Jones I agree. The other dudes didn't do bad but Scott did so well the others pale in comparison.
Yeah. .I hope so
One of my favorite covers of any song. Scott is a dead-ringer for Jim, and the other band members look like they're having a blast.
Ugh I'm tired of people and the comparison! He is clearly not Jim but he nailed this song! Just enjoy the music, he did great and he's just reviving the music man. What more can you ask for?!
Amazing.. RIP Scott.. you will forever be one of my favorite singers !
In my opinion, this is the best song of The Doors. RIP Ray Manzarek.
Hernan Salcedo whaaat’?!. . No way
I couldn't agree with you more. I've seen him live 4 times and each time he blew me away.

I'm sick of losing rock legends it sucks. I was lucky enough to see STP in 95. Wish I could've seen The Lizard King live.
