lol i'm glad they got banned everywhere, lol, in a good way, all those pricks thought they were too good for the doors............i'm super thrilled they weren't invited to woodstock, they probably would've turned it turn anyways lol, glad jim said 'higher' on sullivan show, awesome, maybe it was equivalent of saying fuck you motherfucker on live tv today? lol I LOVE LIVE TV, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, LOL, not scripted, they can't edit it lol THAT'S REAL LIFE,!! NO CENSORSHIP BULLSHIT of course most if not all of whats on tv is fake, not real life

This performance, Hollywood Bowl, Stockholm '68 and Isle of Wight performances of this song are the best in my opinion. The doors in the studio were a monster and the band live was an ancient creature busted out of its tomb to spread the word of wisdom and darkness .

Who remembers where they were the first time it was announced that Morrison had died? I was sixteen coming home from the beach in Chicago. The best voice ever in rock. The most unique band ever. I've been listening to the Doors since they first started playing. They never fail to blow my mind. Love them live.

I was at my sister's apartment outside Washington D.C. when I heard on a radio she had on that Jim had died in Paris the day before. I was very sad because I had always enjoyed The Doors music. Even though I was just a young kid I knew Morrison and the music of The Doors was something unique.

I enjoy the music of The Doors much more than that of Dylan or The Beatles. I almost never listen to those two, but I listen to The Doors almost daily. Jim could sing much better than any of The Beatles or Bob Dylan. They are very important acts though to be sure. Hendrix was influenced to a degree by Dylan.

If you can remember these lyrics after hearing them for the first time when you are 18 and are now 62 then you know this is more than a weird scene inside a gold mine. This band made me forget disco forever and saved my rock and roll soul. He died on my birthday and I visited his grave in Paris to leave a note wrapped around a cork from a bottle of wine that I drank specifically for him. This was in 1997 and there were many people looking for his gravestone and for some reason people asked me where to find his grave. They didn't even speak English but they all wanted to visit the site.
The opening scene from the film Apocolypse Now with this song was fantastic. I sat through the film twice while I was in an art school film class.

      Is it from Monty Python?

    • @mollytucker11
      @mollytucker11 9 лет назад +10

+Courtney Smith Bring out your dead. It's a reference to the Black Plague. Monty Python makes a parody of this. In the actual Black Plague, it was important to come around each evening with wheel-barrels and cart away the dead and decaying bodies out of town, otherwise . . . further sickness and death.

+Taras Pokalchuk Monty Python Holy Grail film came out later than this, in 1975. Morrison was a prophet! lol :-)

    This is the end
    Beautiful friend
    This is the end
    My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes again
Can you picture what will be?
    So limitless and free
    Desperately in need
    Of some stranger's hand
    In a desperate land
Lost in a Roman wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
    All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah
There's danger on the edge of town
    Ride the King's Highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
    Ride the highway west, baby
Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake, he's long, seven miles
    Ride the snake
He's old and his skin is cold
    The west is the best
    The west is the best
Get here and we'll do the rest
The blue bus is calling us
The blue bus is calling us
    Driver, where you taking us?
    The killer awoke before dawn
    He put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door
    And he looked inside
"Father?" "Yes, son?" "I want to kill you"
    "Mother? I want to..."
Come on baby, take a chance with us
Come on baby, take a chance with us
Come on baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin' a blue rug, on a blue bus, doin' a
    Come on yeah
    Fuck, fuck-ah, yeah
    Fuck, fuck
    Fuck, fuck
    Fuck, fuck, fuck yeah!
    Come on baby, come on
    Fuck me baby, fuck yeah
    Whoa
    Fuck, fuck, fuck, yeah!
    Fuck, yeah, come on baby
    Fuck me baby, fuck fuck
    Whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
    Fuck yeah, do it, yeah
    Come on!
    Huh, huh, huh, huh, yeah
    Alright
Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill
    This is the end
    Beautiful friend
    This is the end
    My only friend, the end
It hurts to set you free
    But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
    This is the end

There is one difference, most rap IMO is nothing, nothing but drivel in the eyes and wake of what Jim and the doors left behind for us to listen to.
