I knew you were arranging this song! A few months back I saw you playing it in an instagram story. Am I right, am I right!!!! We love you. Our Mozart in the 21st century.❤
Hmm, if we think harmony Mozart seems right as well. At the same time, Beethoven towards the end of his career had a lot of harmonious shtuff, like pathetique. I think we can conclude Jacob basically has a little bit of everything.
Lennon Troppo I prefer to think of him as the Jacob Collier of the 21st century because he’s doing stuff that no one else I can think of is doing or has ever done before.
Amazing, I just love this music so full and complex, yet simple and childlike. And the best part for me is when Jacob tunes the E-string of the double bass down (1:15) and up (1:21) again - just like that ;)
Random comment, but sometimes the RUclips app messes up the comments by mixing comments from different videos. What yours said before I tapped on it was "I'm so glad they used vfx instead of getting the buildings upside down"
Here are all the references _I_ could find, no doubt there's a million I didn't catch 1:36 - Possible reference to the samba rhythm in all night long 1:47 - Reminds me of the flourish between the 1st two verses in Bakumbe but that could be just me 1:56 - Hajanga obviously 2:01 - Wiggle wiggle wiggle of course 2:08 - I'm not sure but I _think_ this is a reference to the "Go home" group vocal in Djesse 2:16 - "Djesse has a sky like a merry-go-round", also from Djesse and shows up at least once on Vol. 1, 2, and 3 2:39 - Call me crazy but I think the vocal that fades in here is a reference to the bit between the 1st and 2nd sections in Sky Above 3:15 - Of course this is just a regular count in but it also kinda reminds me of the bit in Sky Above between the 2nd and 3rd sections 3:36 - The vocal run that shows up in a few places throughout Djesse Vol. 2 I doubt this list is close to complete, it sounds like there are a billion more references in the samba section that were too quiet for me to make out, and probably also a few in the outro. I also didn't find the Djesse motif and would be blown off my feet if it weren't in here somewhere.
That was an assault on the senses. I am completely lost and baffled as to how someone manages this many layers of video and the co-ordination with the audio.
The comments under this video give me so so so much hope, even though many comments are so heartbreaking. It gives me hope because I find it so corageous of people to share their experiences with a loved one passing, or sadness, or happiness, which (most probably) inspires the people reading those comments to share their story too, without the fear of being judged. Thank you jacob and coldplay ❤
@peter g I was not talking that deep about the tracks. I know that exist doubling. Don't call others ignorant if you don't know the level of knowledge of this person. The average pop still sound less complicated than Jacob music. It can use 10 layers but they are just to fatten the timbre. In Jacob music the vocal part alone play chord with 7 notes, then have more 3 layer of different syncopated rythms+piano+guitar+ melódica his arrangements are obviously more busy. That's what I meant.

i love how this smells like childhood and afternoon coffees made by mother after playing with my friends at the condo square. i miss that time. thank you for saving me at this grey day and made it brighter.
Love and light to you
I knew you were arranging this song! A few months back I saw you playing it in an instagram story. Am I right, am I right!!!! We love you. Our Mozart in the 21st century.❤
Mozart's too basic, I'd say he's more like Bach with all that counterpoint and polyphony and shtuff.
@@brokenredbench96 I was thinking more of the sense of joy in his music (insane harmony, talent and genius aside), but yeah, you may be right 😊.
Hmm, if we think harmony Mozart seems right as well. At the same time, Beethoven towards the end of his career had a lot of harmonious shtuff, like pathetique. I think we can conclude Jacob basically has a little bit of everything.
Same
Lennon Troppo I prefer to think of him as the Jacob Collier of the 21st century because he’s doing stuff that no one else I can think of is doing or has ever done before.
Jacob Collaber 🤣 Amazing work. I get so much inspiration from your music. Thank you.
What yours said before I tapped on it was "I'm so glad they used vfx instead of getting the buildings upside down"
History of music, i guess. - Bill Wurtz & Jacob Collier.
M A K E I T H A P P E N I N T E R N E T G O D S
That would be the true peak of the internet...
As cool as the history of music would be, I'd argue it's 3 times as expansive of the history of all of Earth.
I would pay to see that happen
I mean, what could happen if they did it? They won't lose anything and gain INTERNET POINTS
You could make a religion out of this.
This arrangement just has such an optimism to it. Makes me cry.... Love you Jacob.
You guys are ridiculous.
yes
yes
YESSS
Yes
Si
that one section felt very bill wurtz-y and i am not upset about it
Bill Wurtz apparently owns modulation now
That’s exactly what i thought
we can make a religion out of this
Where
You just mean musical chaotic good
Here are all the references _I_ could find, no doubt there's a million I didn't catch
1:36 - Possible reference to the samba rhythm in all night long
1:47 - Reminds me of the flourish between the 1st two verses in Bakumbe but that could be just me
1:56 - Hajanga obviously
2:01 - Wiggle wiggle wiggle of course
2:08 - I'm not sure but I _think_ this is a reference to the "Go home" group vocal in Djesse
2:16 - "Djesse has a sky like a merry-go-round", also from Djesse and shows up at least once on Vol. 1, 2, and 3
2:39 - Call me crazy but I think the vocal that fades in here is a reference to the bit between the 1st and 2nd sections in Sky Above
3:15 - Of course this is just a regular count in but it also kinda reminds me of the bit in Sky Above between the 2nd and 3rd sections
3:36 - The vocal run that shows up in a few places throughout Djesse Vol. 2
I doubt this list is close to complete, it sounds like there are a billion more references in the samba section that were too quiet for me to make out, and probably also a few in the outro. I also didn't find the Djesse motif and would be blown off my feet if it weren't in here somewhere.
Thanks for these references :)
That was an assault on the senses. I am completely lost and baffled as to how someone manages this many layers of video and the co-ordination with the audio.
Is this an insult
@@jolliron No. Assault. It means I'm overwhelmed by everything I'm experiencing in this video as it hits me.
It’s called over producing. It’s awful.
@@Liofa73 A lot of us may disagree with you, but I respect your opinion
@@Liofa73 I agree.
You both dress like massive children and i'm here for it. The cover is amazing xx
Ha! To an extent it's a four minute fashion advertisement for wearing whatever the fuck you want. =D
Both of your voices are so beautiful, I can't even. This is just pure perfection.
I can just hear Jacobs iMac screaming trying to render that last scene in real time 😭
Fantastico.....un genio assoluto.
would jacob implode if he ever did a project with less than 381 overdubs? 🤔😂
he said in one of his Q&A that he will have a song with less than 10 different tracks in this album
@@tobi_theguy which is already a lot compared to normal songs
@@tobi_theguy 3 to be exact :)
@peter g the common practice of an average pop/rock song
@peter g I was not talking that deep about the tracks. I know that exist doubling. Don't call others ignorant if you don't know the level of knowledge of this person.
The average pop still sound less complicated than Jacob music. It can use 10 layers but they are just to fatten the timbre. In Jacob music the vocal part alone play chord with 7 notes, then have more 3 layer of different syncopated rythms+piano+guitar+ melódica his arrangements are obviously more busy. That's what I meant.
I think this is probably gonna be my favourite of the 4 Djesse albums. Love the folky/chill stuff the best
Well, here I am, sipping my green tea, a massive anatomy exam due tonight that I've barely studied for and 4 hours of sleep in my pocket...but somehow I feel like today is going to be a great day.
Mee too except w panic attacks
This is something the kids call mood I think. I hope it went well!
Lol same.
I would have never hoped these two bright souls knew each other
*_well_* that's a party i sure would love to be invited to (full of jacobs and dodies all jamming out angelically on different instruments)
edit: i also wouldn't mind living next to that garden and hearing aaall the different gorgeous layers live)
I return to this every week or two. Just to check it's still there, and that it makes me feel what I felt the first time I watched it - captivated. It does.
1:42
the sound reminds me of samba and country music, very influential rhythms in Brazil 🇧🇷❤
i love dodie playing the gong on a roof
Farah Winters yes! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed!
They keep popping up it's adorable!! Hahaha
me: i’m a musician
hears jacob collier: never mind
Haha so accurate
SAME
musicisticist
literally lmao
It's not a Jacob Collier song unless there's a "wiggle wiggle wiggle" in it
How on earth is he going to arrange this song?! The song a strong touch to it that I’m really curious how he did it...
UPDATE: I am cOmPlEtElY blown away.... shit man this is so good!!!!
UPDATE #2: sh*t now the song has been stuck in my head for the last few days....
I'm just going to have to say it. Jacob is the best musical artist to arrive in my lifetime....and I've been alive since Eisenhower.
3:15 Second Jacob from the left.
e🅱️ic
BEST DUB EVER
#dab is totes yeet yo
hahahahahahahahaha, feels like I just got rickrolled
LMAO omg
Dodie: I want---
Jacob: Yes.
😁🙏♥️🌏🌟🌞🌟
the tune at 2:03 sounds so Nigerian, especially the sound of the base. I'm Nigerian btw.
Oh cool!
this is the weirdest version I've heard of this song... but I love it though 🙃
"Weird" uhmm... Yeah *_weird_*
Sara Rubio listen to jacob colliers stuff it’s so weird but genius
abbii grace I surely will 🙃
More like the jazzy even more genuis version.
@@HannahKristaAPula It was definitely weird
this will sound very basic but
This is literally the collab I didnt know I needed
Meanwhile, I dreamed of this since I found Jacob.
I’m overwhelmed with utter awe from Jacob’s raw and relentless talent
Might as well click "like" now as an early investor in this song's undoubted success!
your prophecy was fulfilled
@@singthehajanga562 Truly was
There would have had to have been some disruptions on a galactic level for that not to turn out like that.
I think the song has been a success for about 50 years :3
A really nice cover though
PERFECT re-imagination of this Beatles classic composed by George Harrison
The "Everybody here and far" quote (on paper) is from Hajanga :-)
If one listens closely, "Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle" can be heard right underneath/after "Everybody here and far" -- Wiggle X3 is from With the Love In My Heart :-)
Dodie was absolutely perfect for this song, and collaboration. Amazing performance.
amazing!! now im wanting for a collab with esperanza spalding
:") weird to know that somebody thinks about it, not only you
Yessss! That would be amazing
And throw Bobby McFerrin in the mix 🤷🏾♂️
YES
Seconded!
I couldn't believe it
Jacob managed to run short on shirts for the end of the video
We got a version of Fixing a hole! We love Jacob! And the Beatles!
Jacob, your amazing tireless editing and harmonies are So appreciated! You are such a prodigy!

3:35 it's the thing he tweeted on Twitter like "weeoweeoweeoweo" or something
Absolutely wonderful song Jacob!
I’m an old guy.... thank you algorithms.
This young man is off the charts.
More harmony please.
