  • Whilst targeting a Winter Thresher Shark we accidentally hook into 2 HUGE Bluefin tuna. We quickly revive and release the fish before leaving the area and fishing for some Pollack and bass for food.

    This video shows 2 Bluefin tuna caught as a bycatch. They were hooked, played and released fit and healthy. Currently the law in the U.K. prevents the targeting of Bluefin tuna. I am not interested in debating or talking about it in the comments - so don’t bother. 👍🏻🎣🦈

    I love how you guys are really caring for the second fish. At first I was worried about the gaff, but I realised it’s just a small hook for a fish that size, and if it means it was safely released, well at least it can heal. Brilliant fishing guys.

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  7 месяцев назад

      I am glad you could see that we were only acting in the fishes best interest. The first fish was still full of energy. You could see by how it thrashed at the side of the boat. That one could just go straight back. The second due to its size was properly played out so needed reviving.

    Tuna can fight like crazy but I find it is like a death-spiral to bring them to the boat. Not my favorite game fish. But a Thresher or Mako is the best big fish game for the fight. I took my work mates off Montauk point 20 miles to the Gulfstream charter shark fishing and it was fabulous. Seeing a group of 25 year-old office workers scramble when that Thresher was on-board with blood everywhere ... priceless. They bellowed it was the best team bonding experience in their young lives. I am now forever their Captain MattyO. All the best !

    Seriously good effort John. What beautiful animals they are. Sod all the haters man. I've seen you have turned comments off recently and can only lmagine that's from negativity.
    Love what you do man you are such an inspiration to me.
    You, slippy limpets, Jarrow Angling and others have caused me to have some great sessions this year through your knowledge. Many thanks and best regards to you and the family.

      The comments were suspended because we had scammers operating in the comments trying to trick folks. So to prevent anyone being screwed over I took them down. Now I’m contemplating saving myself the time and shutting them off because there are too many men acting like whiney bitches. 🤣

    Absolutely fantastically the best! Beautiful fish, T'wife even watched this vid with me. I've watched Wicked Tuna series, but from what I've otherwise seen, it's staged for the cameras. Yours is genuine and spontanious. Off east coast of Yorkshire tuna used to be caught chasing the "Silver Darlings", herring, that used to migrate down the coast. We've had a school of dolphins in the bay and off Bempton cliffs since the beginning of summer, so they're sticking around for something. Where there is bait fish, there's bigger fish!

      Yes mate. Most shows like that are all “drama for camera” now.

    Great to see these fish in UK waters. Amazed how close to the shore you were - I imagined that you would have been miles out catching these.

    I really enjoyed seeing the heavy gear getting a good work out. Never seen the belts being used on your boat, so it was fun to see. Last time I have seen them on your channel was when you were catching sturgeons on the Fraser River.

      I did the sturgeon without a belt. But we did use them for our previous video for Giant Skate.
