Sometimes I think we forget how a bit of simple fishing off a dockside can actually be a bit of a giggle and just as enjoyable as reeling in a stunning halibut!! So nice to see it glide back off to the deeps. lovely job buddy, appreciate your efforts 🎣👍🏼
Hi Paul, and thank you so much! There's nothing like catching the bait, and then your target fish 😁👌 glad you liked it brother, see you on the beach 👍😁
On Spain's eastern coast, the Mediterranean, that's almost impossible to do. You have no idea how good your fishing is in Norway, I went there once and in 10 minutes on a rod that was 50 years old and a reel that hadn't had a line change in over a decade I caught two huge cods only 30m off the shore, that was literally my best fishing experience ever and I've fished for many years in Spain where we have tuna fish and mahi mahi - we just don't have a lot. If I lived in Norway I would eat fish 6 days a week, and catch it all myself.
Hi bud. Yes I do know how good the fishing is in Norway. A fish in the Mediterranean and lots of other places around Europe and the world. Norway is a cold version of Florida! Yes! Times are hard around the mediterranean right now, but still it is possible to catch some fantastic fish. Thanks Brother, see you on the beach 👍😁👌
“You could entertain yourself like this as a kid”. That’s exactly what my brother and I did. We each got a set of green fiberglass fishing rods for Christmas when I was about 7 years old and boy did we fish! Our special place was a low bridge. We fished enough miniature Coleys to fill a plastic shopping bag at a minimum, sometimes more. When we got home, mom used to say “Wow, you did good. I’ll clean them up later”. Getting older I started to think about this. I could not remember eating a lot of Coleys, and after bedtime my brother and I heard a lot of seagulls quarreling nearby. Hmmmm…. I wonder where the fish went? But at least she didn’t take away the joy and excitement we got from fishing 🎣 ❤ Keep on fishing and making these fantastic videos brother 👍
I had a supposed pier rod for Xmas 23 yrs ago, as did my brother. It’s special for me for similar reasons 👌🏻 Still have it too. My mum made us both rod bags, it’s still in condition too
Good times Bjorg😁👌 Oh, to be a boy again. I had a similar experience once. It was my first fish, a mackerel of course. Being too young to understand death and life, I held him close to my body all day as my new pet. Returned home from a long days fishing. lay pet beside me on my bed, I went to sleep. In the morning, I asked about my new pet. And my mother told me it has swam away. Now shut up and eat your breakfast, be too young to understand life and death, I ate my breakfast, mackerel 🤣👌 Thanks Brother, see you on the beach 👍😁👌
I love your funny commentary and pleasant demeanor. Also like how you actually show when you kill a fish- many channels choose not to show that part. I think the entire process should be viewed so that people can learn.
You had me at "shore fishing for halibut". What an amazing opportunity. Lol and I could see myself fishing for the bait and having so much fun, trying to see if I could catch bigger fish..that I would run out of time for the halibut ! Thank you for such an entertaining video. Cheers from Washington State in the US.
Brilliant video Billy, I've always been very sensitive to how fish are treated wether they are taken or released, Your videos are a statement to other you-tubers on how fish should be treated, I have always killed fish immediately if I was taken them, however I used to knock them on the head, since I began to watch your videos you have shown me a much better and humane way of dispatching fish via the spiking method which I use every time I keep a fish. I have seen videos where fish are allowed to slowly die while the moron that caught it grins stupidly into the camera. Thanks for the great videos Billy and thank you for helping me become a more ethical angler. Stay safe out there fella. Regards Steve
Hi Steve. It means a lot to me that my videos are influencing people in a positive manner. So many times I've heard the expression, it's just a fish! I think a little more empathy for our fellow creatures could go a long way. Thank you so much brother, see you on the beach 😁👌
I live in Maine, we also catch harbor pollock, and use them for bait. Unfortunately, we have to take them to use a boat to then catch most other species of fish. Norway has placed its culture and its people before industry. You’ve done a perfect job managing your fishery.
Hi Scott. The Norwegians do take good care of their fisheries, but that's not the real reason why the fishing is so good. It is all down to the continental shelf and plankton density - and Norways proximity to it. Either way, the fishing is amazing. Thanks brother 😁👌
Two times a mate and i took a roadtrip from Sweden and then drove along the Norwegian coast. We decided to only allow us to eat if we catched something. No fish - no potatoes, vegetables or beer once we were in Norway. Went to bed every day in Norway with full bellies and nicely soft in the head. One of the best days ever was in Geiranger.
Another brilliant video thanks Billy. Plenty of useful info as always. This one slipped through my net, so back on catch-up! Your face was a picture when that Halibut first took the bait! Tight lines, stay safe & well. 🎣🎣👍👍

Hi John. I'm really glad you like the video and your comment is much appreciated. As you can probably tell the rig is a very simple affair. Then the hook hangs on the bait clip, picking up the rig body and leaving plenty of slack for the bait. That's it, simple and effective. Thanks brother, see you on the beach 😁👌
Well done, fun informative video. I only fish surf casting in North Carolina, but I enjoy catching my bait fish almost as much as I like the surf casting.

Yes! Nice and smooth, is always best. And if you cast with a big bait, use 7-8oz sinker. it will slow your cast, but the inertia is what is needed to send the bait!
It's always interesting to see how Europeans bait fish. I've use 15-20lb fluorocarbon or straight mono for our local California halibut. Simple Carolina rig and live bait. Cool to see the penn 525 , I used mine last season for mahi mahi, sea bass ,school grade tuna and amberjack.
Hi Angel. The rods are from the UK, the reels are from the States and the rig is from South Africa. There's not many other Europeans that fish like this! Thanks Brother 👍😁👌

Had to laugh at your comment about amusing yourself as a kid fishing like this and now when catching your bait it was so obvious how much it still amuses you, a true fisherman lol. Stumbled across this video today and happy I did, liked and subscribed, thanks and Happy New Year!
Ya gotta love when I plan comes together. And yes...I've been laughed at more fish than I've been able to laugh at. This is the sixth year I haven't been able to chase tuna this fall/winter. But it's looking like all my surgeries are done & finished. I promised the Baker Lady one "large" fish. I'm thinking a Bluefin at-around 75 inches should do the trick. (catch & release) So next year it is. Thanx for posting Bud. It was a good watch.
Lovely video! First time watching. I loved your humour and the way you explained everything. And Norway is so beautiful - I've caught some nice pollocks in some remote fjords a few years ago and it was lovely! 🙂
Thanks Billy, nice halibut, we use whole halibut like that as bait for flounders in Northern Ireland, the flounders we catch are 80cm between the eyes 😂
Great billy,, cracking fish there mate, them runs never get old, I'd like to see your take on the lead release clip👍,try keeping some lures in your bait bucket, full of blood and fish guts,,it works for me 👍😉🇳🇴
Hi Junky. As it goes, it's the second time I have caught that same fish! He likes a good fight 🤣 glad you liked it brother, thanks for the tip. See you on the beach 😁👌
Not sure if you have heard of butterfly baits.. I often use use a butterfly bait for big snapper and hapuka here in NZ. Basically, take your bait fish and fillet from the tail towards the head on both sides leaving the fillets and guts well attached, then snap out the backbone. You get all the scent plus a nice flutter from the fillets with a bit of current or even small fish knocking it about. Pretty sure it would work on your rig / trace.
Nice video. It's so interesting - and humbling - to watch people from other countries fish. Often the same fish but different methods and techniques, different gear and especially rigs, more to learn. Happy New Year Billy.
I'm glad I came across your videos, about to sit and watch a billyfishing marathon :D ez subscribe, it's hard to describe how but it feels like you are talking to a friend and not to a camera, great videos :)

That's excellent advice regarding casting too far. I'm really bad for launching it to the horizon, when all the fish are hunting in the breakers in my local beach. PB Bass was about twenty yards out lol.
Yep! It's hard to stop casting too far, party because we enjoy the feeling. And when the fishing is slow, it's always fun to practice. Thanks Brother 👍😁

Had to laugh at your comment about amusing yourself as a kid fishing like this and now when catching your bait it was so obvious how much it still amuses you, a true fisherman lol. Stumbled across this video today and happy I did, liked and subscribed, thanks and Happy New Year!
I would be lying if I said it wasn't true 🤣 thanks for subbing up , much appreciated. See you on the beach 😁👌
Hi Randy, it sounds like you have a plan of your own, and I think it hasn't much to do with fishing🤣 glad you liked it brother 😁👌
Love your work Billy,
Thanks Brother, much appreciated 👍😁👌
I caught my PB on 10lb mono. I fish freshwater in Canada. It was a 48” Muskie. 🤙 line strength can be mitigated with angling skill and a slower rod!
Yes! It's amazing what you can do with a bit of patience. Nice fish Brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch haha thanks! It was a complete bonus fish as I was targeting smallmouth! Luck more than anything! Tight lines my man!
This is my first video watching your channel, it's so simple and peaceful definitely a sub!

Lovely video! First time watching. I loved your humour and the way you explained everything. And Norway is so beautiful - I've caught some nice pollocks in some remote fjords a few years ago and it was lovely! 🙂

Hi Ciaran, glad you like the videos. Thanks Brother 👍😁
Thanks Billy, nice halibut, we use whole halibut like that as bait for flounders in Northern Ireland,
the flounders we catch are 80cm between the eyes 😂
I'm coming home, Now! 🤣 Glad you liked it Brother, see you on the beach Ronnie 😁👌
Hi bud. We call it a flapper, because it flaps in the tide. Not sure it will cast! But it will fish on a slide. thanks Brother 👍😁
Boom great stuff Billy see you on the beach
Boom Chris, thanks Brother. See you on the beach 😁👌
Nice video. It's so interesting - and humbling - to watch people from other countries fish. Often the same fish but different methods and techniques, different gear and especially rigs, more to learn. Happy New Year Billy.
Hi Steve. Glad you liked it, much appreciated. Yes I love diversity in my life, and fishing! It makes life more fun. Thanks Brother 😁👌

I have to say that the only times that I've had Halibut is with chips & Mushy Peas!! - Nice to see some C&R.
Hi bud, glad you liked it. You're the first person that didn't say! why didn't you eat it. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Well that put a smile on my face 👍
Glad to oblige Lee, much appreciated. Thanks Brother 😁👌
Really think you should consider using a unhooking Matt especially as you influence a lot of sea anglers with your great videos👍🏻
Nicetip. Glad you like the video, much appreciated. Thanks Brother 👍😁
I now have an image of halibut taking selfies, posing with a perfectly presented bait
🤣👌Yes! That's what he was doing, thanks Brother 👍😁

Hi. I love that Dingle dangle are helping you out, fantastic! Merry Christmas to you, thanks Brother 😁👌
Nice video Sir. For one moment i thought the ferry name was Vrak or Wreck as in English 😅🤣 Oh and the Irish and UK people are good on bait fishing here in Norway 😎👍
Thanks Brother, glad you liked it! I like the lure fishing more, but the baits get the job done 😁👌
