My dad died at 96, and he smoked (not heavy, though). drink alcohol occasionally, he sleeps a lot, 1 hour in the morning, nap after lunch then at night 8pm - 4 am...based on my observation, sleep, eating well, mild exercise and no or minimal stress is the key to longevity
It was wonderful hearing the point brought up about exercise and the lymphatic system! The relationship between exercise and the immune system is often overlooked.
Eat healthy, don't do drugs or alcohol, do intermittent fasting, use sun protection. Don't go into a radioactive building to steal ammunition to kill zombies and yeah that's basically eat
I stopped using sunscreens. They are very toxic to our health. When I used seed oils I always had problems with sunburn. Now I use animal fats I don’t burn at all.
LOL 🤣🤣 It's easy to overthink things, but you're right; following the basics gets you most of where you want to be. I would add exercise to the list, and definitely add my vote RE not gunning for zombies 🤣🤣.
"Just sleep more!" "Just sleep better!" IN-FUR-IATING. May I remind everyone that: 1) we cannot force our brains to sleep; our brains decide when to wake up---"just sleep more" is not useful advice 2) we cannot force our brains to get quality/restful sleep; our brains decide what kind of sleep we get--"just sleep better" is not useful advice I have been struggling with sleep for over 30 years and even a sleep clinic could not tell me how to 1) sleep more 2) get quality/restful sleep
True. Reduction of stress. Had one patient that had to get a divorce, change his career and live in a house at the ocean front. Now he is poor, happy, and sleeps like a baby. Have had several patients who were lacking in vitamins and minerals plus overweight. Once they lost the added weight (fat cells can bind hormones), started exercising, set schedule every day and taking the correct vitamins and minerals they were lacking, they can now relax and sleep great. Iodine, magnesium, B1, inositol, glycine all very helpful
I also have had terrible sleep problems my whole life, i personally have found several things that help me sleep better, more consistently and more restfully. 1st: Calming music, something ambient maybe soft vocals, Binaural Beats, played through comfortable headphones (DT headphones are perfect for sleeping), or a soundbar/speaker Binaural Beats specifically help sleep by activating certain regions of the brain at alternating times, plus music blocks out any unwanted noise. 2nd: Waking comfort, this seems incredibly overlooked, comfort standards set prior to sleep don't matter if you wake up uncomfortable, whether its temperature, environmental noise, light, etc. Make sure your comfort is maintained throughout your sleep, your body is always aware of the environment even if you aren't. (Personally i fall asleep warm and wake up cold, so i set a heating blanket on high right before falling asleep and often wake up so comfortable i am unaware i even slept!) 3rd: Mindset, I never fall asleep thinking about sleep, instead i think mindfully, focusing on breathing, heart beating, sensations like blankets, warmth, or just slowly draining thoughts out of my head, eventually this should help sleep stability and consistency. (Note: If it feels like you are slowly falling during this, don't worry that means you're on the right track). You can also try recalling a book you have read, imagining a peaceful, calm and serene place, or just reminiscing over fond memories The goal is to relax and de-stress from the day, not actively TRY to sleep I personally have found these few changes to cause MASSIVE improvements in my sleep and making these into habits create a perfect environment for restful sleep, i often pair the music and headphones with a large beanie, which prevents the headphones from slipping and acts as a very large "sleep hood" blocking out light. Overall, no-one can tell you the "perfect" way to sleep, only good habits that can help you reinforce stable and restful sleep according to statistics, which don't necessarily reflect the needs of the individual. Your best sleep quality has to be discovered by you, so experiment, try something you've never done before, or even against the advice of others, it may just be the best sleep you ever get. Sleep Better Soon.
@terracar2003 happiness. The happiness people sleep the best. Becoming super happy in life is a good starting point. Yes. Plus the items you mentioned. Plus health.
@@DrAJ_LatinAmerica . I Absolutely agree, on the contrary however, i practiced these tactics while i lived out of my car for a few years, and in poor health at the time, and i was actually able to sleep better than if i didn't practice them at all. Many people are not religious so there's that. It doesn't make them lesser. Also there are religious people who are not Christians. They are not lesser either. There are people who are the most spiritual of all, and they are not religious at all. The rest of what you put down is very relatable to most everyone.
Awesome :) it’s good you broke down your personal routine and if it’s religious, it’s not a bad thing. Sorry if everyone else took offense to what you were doing. Which was just simply breaking down your process :) which is a way that you connected to the information stated in this video. I like it. 👍🏾
Praying is a most toxic 'advice' as it offers zero protection and it encourages 'believers' to overlook actual health advices. If there would be a god caring about cancer and injustice why would he murder children every day with cancer? For fun?
Melanomas increased after the introduction of sun screen. Sun exposure does not cause melanoma. People with low vitamin D get more melanomas. In Denmark people with basil and squamous skin cancer from sun exposure live ten years longer.
This video will certainly lead to less sleep. Also, many of the points here have been debunked. You’re actually have more health risks associated with sleeping too much than too little, but sleeping too much isn’t a billion dollar industry.
None of this ad nauseum sleep preparation nonsense stops you waking up all the time if your hormones, electrolytes, blood sugar and insulin are running their own program.
Nothing of any use in this video. The guest "experts" are really scraping the bottom of the barrel lately. This guy is probably the worst. The holes in his research and cherry picking of data is biblical. He should be on the Comedy Network.
Veganism is NOT A DIET. It is an ethical stance against the exploitation, suffering and killing of animals. Vegans can eat a healthy or unhealthy diet. Food choices dictate that.
