@@murderousmaths I’m actually running a small Midi group, the Line6 Midi Mad Scientists Club and the MuRF was I believe fully modelled into the Helix in their version 2.8 firmware. It’s oddly one that seems to have gone unnoticed for the large part at least in the searches I’ve done so far. Mapping it entirely to bring an onscreen replica would be a bit much but I’m really hoping to develop a sort of library of settings to swap between personalities if you will. There actually seem to be more patterns written into the model of it than the real thing so diving through the manuals and trying to figure out what if anything has been added or taken away.
Absolutely lovely pedal and your vid really is one of the better ones out.

NEVER SEEN someone tell what it really makes till i find your video CONGRATS! always wanted one(since the launch), now i got mine! felt lucky cause moog does not produce them anymore. the midi has a lot more options! i use to plug it on a midi-usb interface on my computer, than i can edit patterns to create my own rhythms AND have a few more virtual knobs to mess around on the app(MAC & PC) provided by moog itself... my new challenge now is to learn how to clock sync with the drums... the possibilities never ends on it! LOVE THE SOUNDS IT CAN BUILD! cheers from Brasil!!!

Absolutely! I almost always have it looped in just as a really spicy tone control.
Love your videos! There is a program for Mac or PC that Moog made that not only allows you to create and save your own sequences but also unlocks a few advanced parameter settings such as for the LFO. You can tweak all parameters in the program on a little animated version of the MuRF.
I've been in the music business for quite some time and gear (obviously) is my bread and butter. This has got to be the most friendly review I've seen in RUclips by a longshot. Liked, subscribed (although I rarely do either) and buying a MIDI Murf as I type this (although I was kinda aiming to do that anyway!).

Thanks! I do my best - I just wish I could play as well as some of the cool musicians who have done demos for these pedals.
When testing the effect with noise it is very clear what it actually does. I generally test effects in the same manner, I'm happy that you did what you did! If you would do this with a melody or harmony the perception gets clouded! The melody or harmony might be to dominant to make a judgement. Props!
I am currently struggling with MF-108M Cluster Flux. It is a powerful tool. I also want to incorporate my team MuRF. Your video helps to understand its operation. I'm afraid it takes work to master the MuRF. Although the possibilities seem limitless. The sound is fantastic.

I don't think I ever heard a Flux with a Murf. If it sounds any good, I hope you make a video. I'm sure a lot of people (including me) would love to see it! Good luck.

The drive on the MF 105 is amazing. Its worth the price as an OD pedal. Seriously. It makes everything i've plugged into it sound better.
All the moog pedals have a good drive circuit but I must say, coupled with the filters this thing is an awesome tone pedal. I hardly ever use the patterns!

@@murderousmaths just bought a MuRF without MIDI, well… it’s so good. The bandpass filters alone are so beautiful, it takes a Saw Lead to other places… almost like a vocoder… and that’z before starting animations, envelopes, phaser, or adding other pedals to the chain…! Thanks for the vid
I don't use the midi at all on mine, and very rarely use the patterns. You're right, the band-pass filters are amazing on their own!
That MIDI implementation could be useful indeed. If you've ever listened to a group called Devo, their song "Jocko Homo" has a synthesizer line in the bridge that would be incredibly difficult to do without the MIDI capability on this thing... Although, the earliest demo of the song is from 1974, so who the hell knows how they managed then...!

So is it possible to slave a second Midi Murf operating in the Mid Frequency Range with the Bands firing off at the next 8 prime numbers 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47 and 53 to get a Double Prime Number Rhythmicon Pattern? That's a whopping 32,589,158,477,190,044,730 steps before all the Bands fire together again!

Hi! It's a Nord Stage 2 which I mainly got for the great piano sound/feel although it does so many other things brilliantly. On the demo (about 11:00) the simple sequence on the synth section is done using the arpeggiator and hold functions.

You're right! That would be a bit awkward for playing live if you wanted to use the stereo outputs. I've contacted MOOG to see if they can help. I know some Moogerfoogers have little circuit switches inside that can change things like this. Best wishes to you in Argentina!

Sounds fantastic. It may be a dumb prejudice, but I tend to get turned off to anything with built in patterns.
You can put your own patterns in using midi if you can be bothered. However I agree with you - the best part of this machine is just the filters themselves. (See my comment at 2:09 !)

Sounds like your just running your guitar through a filter....
It's very similar but whereas a filter sweeps, the Murf does the same thing in steps and is a lot more precise. I'd agree, the MF1 is generally more useful for guitarists, but the Murf is far more experimental.
