- Sadiq Khan is riding roughshod over outer London's objections to ULEZ expansion, installing cameras and signs without boroughs' consent. He needs to go. Watch my question to the Transport Secretary today.

Parliament needs to remove local authorities' ability to levy charges and fines for anything. These should be set at a national level, not by local politicians and council executives to raise money for their own wastage and grotesque salaries.
e.g. the vast majority of council tax revenue goes into county council pension funds & the repayment of historic council loans, around 20% goes to the services it’s claimed for
So what he is saying is that the Mayor of London has Carte Blanches to do what he wants within his term, but the people only have once every 4 years at the Ballot Box to say get lost. Can't he be recalled like an MP can ? If not why not, if he is acting against the majority of the people as a little Dictator. There needs to be a mechanism of recall for every MP, Mayor, Councillor. They are responsible to the people, not themselves.
The people also have the power to demolish these and all the cameras as well. People can and will take their power back and can show these politicians who has the power.

The people do have the power. The government must stand for the people which they aren’t doing which is illegal by itself, and seem to do what they like. We need to take the laws back which the government over turn illegally.

London is wealthier and more populous than most countries and should be governed accordingly,certainly not by inadequates.
To say that if the voters don't like it, they have the ballot box, is true, but even if a new mayor was installed, there's no guarantee he/she will remove them. Basically, if they are up and running under Khan, then there here to stay. My car is fully compliant (2018), but I stand with others who can't afford to, or don't want to , replace their current vehicle.
Lets hope than the High Court decide that Khans consultation process was unlawful.
My car is “compliant” too but for how long? They can change the rules whenever they feel like it. We know the plan is to charge all cars with road charging by 2026.

The problem with throwing fines in the rubbish is that they tend to become much larger and eventually to a CCJ which buggers up your ability to borrow for such things as a mortgage, car, or credit card.

ULEZ cameras have just gone up on the boundary between Bexley and Greenwich council areas. Near to the Greenwich x Bexley Hospice location.
We were never given the OPPORTUNITY to vote on this ulez expansion. This Government is farcical. Well done Mr Bacon.

While statutory rights may exist, there must be a clause I the legislation that prevents improper application and abuse of those rights,... the ballot box response was weak in my view.
