  • The apprentice to the butterfly is an intermediate pole transition. I consider this transition to butterfly the pre-requisite to the handspring.

    I know this is old, but this video made me SO EXCITED that I nailed an Apprentice in class! My studio does levels 1 and 2 at the same time. I'm level 1, but tried Apprentice when it was taught to the level 2 and did it. Now I'm looking forward to trying to see if I can transition it into Butterfly on my pole at home, which is taught at level 3 at my studio. It'll be awesome if I can pull it off

    Thanks Elizabeth, very well explained, as usual. At my studio we enter this pose in a different way, maybe easier? We go in an invert, readjust our hands as you explained, sort of "sit upwards", and push the back leg backwards. I'll challenge myself to see if I can do your version :)

    • @Elizabeth_BFit

      The way you do it is also a great entrance to butterfly. I like to teach this way as well because it is great way to start to develop the strength and coordination of the bottom arm in prep for a handspring. But it is good to try all the different entrances and exits to a move!

      We all learn and progress at our own rate and order of operations. There are so many other great options to getting into an inverted position versus doing a straight up invert! Do you and enjoy your pole journey!

    Amazing, but those transitions, into butterfly and out of, scare the hell out of me. Cant do them alone, I get way too scared to even try because they feel very uncontrolled to me

    • @Elizabeth_BFit
      @Elizabeth_BFit  Год назад +1

      Don't ever feel rushed or pressured to try out a move or transition that you aren't comfortable with. Also you don't have to like or try every pole move there is. You can veto, hard pass on a few pole moves and you will still never run out of new pole moves to try out. But if this is a move that you would like to work past your fears on, I recommend going to the edge of where you feel scared, not past, just as far as you can go that you feel comfortable and then just hang out there and breathe and envision the next step. Over time your comfort zone will start to expand. Quite often taking away the pressure of having to go all in helps us become more relaxed with going farther and farther with a move. Also nothing wrong with having a spotter and I 100% recommend it when wanted or needed so that you can feel safe and secure. Never a rush to try something without a spotter. Number one priority is to feel safe and secure.

      @@Elizabeth_BFit Thank you for making me feel there's ways to progress anyways. I'm definitely not gonna give up and try to get past those fears, maybe slower than others, but I will. Thank you. 🖤
