  • Where to start training for your handspring or ayesha on the pole! The handspring is one of those big milestone pole moves along with your first climb, your first invert and so many more big exciting moments. The handspring is one of the first pole moves that maintains only two points of contact and requires not only strength but balance and a dose of fearlessness. So how do we get there to achieve pole-god-like status? This tutorial is for ALL levels of polers!! I'm going to walk you thru my top handspring prep exercises to help you strengthen and take strides towards safely and efficiently building towards your first handspring. These exercises, though broken down for those working towards their first handspring, are also VERY applicable for all of you that have a solid handspring. Shoulders are one of the top injuries in pole and these exercises will help you strengthen and stabilize your shoulders for handsprings and more so that we can all continue to do amazing things that defy gravity!
    Need a more in-depth break down of the Apprentice to Butterfly transition listed in the handspring prep tutorial above? Check out the tutorial at the end of the video or link below!
    Is your handspring a work in progress or maybe it is one of those goal moves on your pole bucket list for someday? I invite you to join my EBFit Polers Online training program and start building towards or improving your handspring. There is a program for beginner, intermediate and advanced. The beginner program is for brand new polers or those working towards their inverts, the intermediate program is for inverters or polers that are comfortable dropping down to various inverted positions already. In my online training program I walk Intermediate polers thru the steps to work towards and build their handspring and in the advanced program we'll be breaking down all the grips and new and innovative ways to get into and out of your handspring or ayesha!

    Apprentice should be called after its original inventor: Jamilla ( Jamilla DeVille ). She is very much one of the pole industries PIONEERS. Please don't forget the original pole moves "creators". Think of it as paying homage to our creators. Jamilla is almost forgotten as a pole pioneer 😥 but seeing her tricks being renamed is not necessary in this day and age. Celebrate those came before us! Jamilla doesn't mind either way... but let's honour her. Same as Jeneyne Butterfly. And all her variations too of her butterfly moves which seem endless now! :)
    All the pole tricks used to be called by their rightful names a decade+ ago but now, no one knows if this trick is the same as that trick, etc, etc because of all the million name changes. Every studio calls them something different and it creates nothing but confusion. Some creators back in the day would claim IP, or copyright etc which was fair and was problematic back them, but not an issue anymore. We need them all to be universally named so us dancers aren't constantly confuzzled about which move is what! These power house women (and men) laid the foundations for some of the craziest, hardest tricks in the world now and newbies don't even recognise that a human pole dancer created them, was named after them, or that these incredible people named the move itself. I think this should be respected for all time now. I've never heard of an apprentice until now, but it's actually a Jamilla. :) of which there are many entries/exits/transitions into, out of etc. now it's almost infinite. Its incredible that one person can create such a legacy in the pole world. And some of the moves have been around for longer than some of the newbies have been alive!!! Respect! Love these videos keep them coming!

      Yep, there are lots of names for lots of pole moves.

    I've noticed some people kick into their handspring by taking their hips away from the pole and up, and others kind of kick up into it sideways. Is one way preferable over the other when learning?

    • @Elizabeth_BFit
      @Elizabeth_BFit  2 года назад +3

      Nope, both are valid. Different bodies have different preferences.

    I have and elbow Ayessha / Handspring and I am very close to a twisted grip handspring, both entrance from a bat inversion. I would like to do a handspring from standing. What do you recommend ? I do your workouts for handstands and the one above. I am 54 & I am also working on thoracic and shoulder mobility. Thank you

      I always recommend being 100% solid with dropping down into a handspring/ayesha before trying to kick up into one from standing. For additional steps and training towards all things handspring and ayesha, I'd recommend checking out my virtual handspring training workshop here: elizabethbfit.com

    I have a a Little more than a micro bend in each arm naturally so they can’t open up/straighten all the way so I’m naturally at a disadvantage when it comes to extending my arms so what would u suggest to help accommodate my issue

    • @Elizabeth_BFit
      @Elizabeth_BFit  Год назад

      Some elbow are straight, some hyper extend and some have micro bends. All are workable for most things. With your micro bends the cues are the same, your elbow will just look a little different than someone with straight or hyper extended elbows. It's not wrong, just different bodies and all are amazing!

    For some reason my back is starting to hurt when i train my ayesha... Adjusting posture doesn't seem to help. Have any of your students encountered a similar issue before, by any chance? What was the solution in those cases?
    Trying to identify the problem, because I haven't doing the ayesha for a long time since i learned it.

      Sounds like it could be a muscle imbalance or technique issue but hard to say without seeing exactly what it is that you're currently doing. If you'd like to book a virtual private I'd love to help you sort it out. You can book your virtual private via the link below. elizabethbfit.myshopify.com/1353089079/checkouts/d86833a0b967e2db369b0bd3644806db?channel=buy_button
