mercster that’s the outlook I adhere to in real life.
Wow big moment! Let's bring a car onto the field lol
Yeah, it is a big moment. No one has more hits than him.
Just beautiful
@Cyanier the car was a gift from the owner of the team. And he probably sold it to pay off his gambling debts. His numbers speak for themselves, but so does his arrogance. His punishment is just.
@@ronsterm7076 how many major league hits do YOU have ?
The grounds crew despised Marge Schott because she insisted on constantly bringing her Saint Bernard onto the field with her, day after day, and the dog would poop like an elephant all over the field. Bringing a car on the field was a relief for them.
If the Astros can keep their world series then Pete Rose should be in the Hall Of Fame. Pete Rose was the hardest working player of All Time. He did not have all natural talent. He worked to get where he did!
Did the Astros gamble on their own games?
@@UberKrispyok keep that energy then all those astros players should be banned for life like the black Sox players it's just as bad for the sport as throwing
Pete belongs in the hall of fame
Ironically, this is ranked 2nd in the most memorable moments of Pete Rose's life... the 1st being Assed in the face by wrestler Rikishi.
I had to look that one up...OMG ha ha
Right up there with Ripken as records that will never be broken. No one is even close.
The only way anyone is stiffing this record is if Ichiro either gets reincarnated or has a son who starts playing in MLB at like 20-21.
That was his first season back with the Reds since 1978 and to break the career hits record in his hometown is special indeed.
Kind of. That was 1985, and he was traded back to Cincinnati in August of 1984. So the 1985 season he started with the Reds and played the entire year with them....but he went back to Cincy the year prior (1984).
Did a Cleveland to Cincinnati bicycle ride earlier this year & the last night went to a bar where they had a plaque where the ole riverfront stadium first base was. The plaque read
“FIRST BASE
RIVERFRONT STADIUM
HOME OF THE CINCINNATI REDS
1970-2002
THIS MARKS THE EXACT LOCATION WHERE
PETE ROSE AND THE BASEBALL WORLD
ENJOYED A NINE MINUTE STANDING OVATION
"CHARLIE HUSTLE"
BECAME MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL'S
ALL-TIME HIT KING.
HIT 4192
"I'm just like everyone else.
I have two arms, two legs, and
four-thousand hits.
- Pete Rose”
Except it was paragraph center alignment lol
Anyway I came to this video to watch the actual hit as I wasn’t alive at the time to see it.
When my mom dies, if I'm still around to read a eulogy, I will talk about how she said, "Oh bless his heart" when Pete Rose cried on Tommy Helms' shoulder.
Riverfront Stadium was Pete"s Hall Of Fame.
I watched Pete his entire career since 1963, he is the best hitter I've ever seen, absolutely should be allowed into the Hall of Fame
Pete wasn't a better hitter than Tony Gwynn.
@@josecarranza7555 Tony was also a great hitter, one of my all time favorite players, I watched him his entire career with the Padres, very sad when he passed away so young, may he rest in peace
Rest in peace, Pete Rose.
One of the GREATS
i love pete rose
WE LOVE YOU PETE CINCINNATI....
No steroids nothing just pure hard work and hustle
5:00 Drinking on air, love it.
Notice they never sipped
Riverfront Stadium was a perfect stadium for Pete Rose, because of the very hard field, it was so hot and humid there, it was closed-in stadium, the ball carried so well, and he work the whole field, depending on where he was pitched.
In almost 3,000 more at bats, Rose had 67 more hits than Ty Cobb. Guess who was the better hitter. It's basically a longevity record. Cobb wins .366 to .303.
You act like .303 is a common feat
They also played in completely different eras.
Rose is the man.
@@chrishartman4132 correct! Different balls, faster pitchers, better fielders.
5-6 more years of playing baseball with getting older maybe his average would've dropped ???
As if longevity is to be dismissed.
Ty Cobb played over 20 years too. What’s the big deal?
I remember seeing this on TV live. I was 11 and remember watching with my Grandparents. I remember being happy for him getting the hit. A local guy Wayne Krenchicki played for the Reds too and was there in the dugout and witnessed it live too.
This is why pete rose needs to be in the hall of fame
He needs to be in the hall of fame
