Spurs fan here, but I absolutely love this Raptors team. Humble & grounded, but hard working and hungry. I knew from the beginning of the season that this team would be special. I feel like that in 2018, only Spurs fans knew how good exactly Kawhi is. When the trade happened, I was like immediately "it's gonna be probably Golden State vs Toronto" in the finals. As the season rolled on, this Raps team gave you this feeling, that they're capable of accomplishing more than a simple finals appearance. Especially when GS started struggling a bit. Yeah, the Warriors will fight back and find the groove come playoffs time, but you can't be playing mediocre for your standards all season long and expect everything to fall into place come playoffs time. I'm not saying the Warriors weren't treated the big games seriously, but big games were like 20 out of 82 the rest of the season they could mostly rely on their pure talent to get the W. That's the difference between this Warriors team, and the 2013 Heat for example. During the Heat 27 game win streak, although they were down most games after reaching like 13-15 wins in a row, they always gave it everything to win, bit without caring too much about the win streak. They just wanted to win and dominate. That's why they were able to face adversities and other stuff better than the Warriors. There is also another difference, one team had LeBron and the other one not. But from the mentality aspect, the Warriors lacked this something that the Raptors had (the Raptors also never had a championship at that points, so there was this extra push the Warriors couldn't really have after winning 3/4 championships the previous seasons). In 2021/22 the Warriors had it again, but in 2019 they were missing this "nostalgia" to get to the top. I know that if you ask the players, some will say you always wanna win, but you can tell by their body language they were too confident about these, cause their mentality of taking it easy worked the previous season. But it's like missing a workout. Missing a workout won't be causing you necessary too have a bad game, you can get away with it once, or a bit more often (sometimes maybe even a season if you're really lucky, though you're consistently missing workouts). But it won't work often in most cases. Usually only once. This 2019 season was a wake up call as well for the Warriors,which they really needed.
