Randy Randerson and the players bouncing off him to the tune of the bell...it makes him look larger than life, especially when u think about the fact that he was going up against Shaq
+neutronthekid34 Not even close to the Chuck Daly era. The 2004 team was assembled mostly overnight to quickly win titles, the Bad Boys were guys who were drafted by or began as rookies in Detroit and spent most if not the whole of their carreers with the Pistons, climbing the Celtics-Lakers mountain.
+VerdesVideos these guys spent most of their careers with the pistons... lol and when ben wallace left he still came back.. same with chauncey and tyshaun.. bens the only one who truly left. chauncey was traded..
No superstars, no egos, no show-offs. Just a group of hard workers who played great defense with a great coach. I remember being a kid always making it home after school as quick as I can to watch them play. It was like Christmas. I truly miss this era in basketball. Today's game is just...different and not as entertaining.
Lmao nah dude your team just sucks for like 15 years. Basketball is more entertaining today then it was then. Us heat fans had an easier transition from 06 - 22 then you pistons fans. 😂
@@timcarter817 Mr. 43, if I am, I am. If it's entertaining for you, great. Im a fan of the era where defense was played, and not players whining every other possession. But, that's just me. I get that the league had to make changes back in '04 to make the league more entertaining. Regardless what I am, I'm still a Pistons fan. And, will never bandwagon.
If you never went to a pistons regular season game or playoff game between ‘04-‘08, you missed out! The intensity, the energy, and the emotions in the building was second to none. The thunder sticks, the flames in the air, mason as the public address announcer. Great times.
The heat coming off those flames as you knew detroit was about to decimate whoever the opponent is. Still hate the 05 spurs team with an un responsible passion.
That music. Ben with the sledgehammer. Horns blaring. Flamethrowers firing. Thundersticks. Mason announcing. "Buh Buh Buh BILLUPS". Big Ben shoulder bumping his way through the gauntlet. The bell tolling. Sheed hyping up the team in the huddle. Literally one of the best intro sequences in all of sports. This stuff made you want to show up early to games, and it gave you goosebumps and made your hair stand up straight with excitement. Not only did the team move on from all of its iconic players, but they lost all of this extra flair. It's no surprise the team has been as bad as it is for so long; here's hoping we'll get back to more of this soon, with Cade leading the way.
Let's bring this shit back! Who else did it like Detroit? No one. Say what you want about our city but we will ALWAYS stand up and tell em we from Detroit. Old schoolers will get that one. The city loves its Pistons!
Not a detroit fan but I will never deny Pistons got the best announcer of the 2000s in Mason and players with coolest nicknames in nba history esp one of my personal fav rip hamilton
This along with Jordan's Bulls was the best intro to the starting line up EVER. And this is coming from a Celtics fan. Timeless! Still get chills watching it
@BiDewF the System lol you’re out of your mind. Today’s athletes are so much faster, stronger while being taller. I’m 43 and grew up a Bad Boys fan. But those teams then would get runover by today’s athletes. That goes for football as well
Was never a big basketball fan. This is the only team I followed since day one because everyone overlooked them. My favorite team ever. And that intro was the best I've ever seen!
Stumbled back on this video after randomly thinking about about how listening to Mason introduce the Pistons was one of the things that got me into being a basketball fan as a child, and everything holds up so well; the clever wordplay, the charisma, everything. "B-B-B-B-B-BUH-BUH-BEN WWWWWWWWWALLLACE!" never fails to make me smile.
I'm not a Pistons fan, but this was one the absolute best intros I've ever seen. The only bad thing about this video is that it cuts away when Ben Wallace swings the sledgehammer and smashes the Lakers' logo at 0:46. I've seen the camera focused when the intros included doing the same thing to the Nets' and Spurs' logos, but all the videos I've seen of the 2004 Finals games in Detroit have always cut away when doing it the Lakers one. Other than that, fantastic. :)
Had they gotten Carmello instead of Darko, this piston team would have been a dynasty. They r the best defensive team of the 2000's and one of the best back guard combo with Chauncey Billups and one of my fav player rip hamilton
Nahhhh...I think the play would have been Chris Bosh. Larry Brown and Carmelo would have been bad for each other. Melo wouldn’t have developed as a scorer because Larry would have wanted ball movement, and didn’t really want to coach another AI. Melo also wouldn’t have gotten as much PT cause Larry wanted defense down the stretch and hated playing rookies in big spots. Bosh would have fit in better for what they wanted long term.
I'm a Laker fan from Albania and i would get up early at 3 o'clock in the morning to watch the games. The Pistons were a great well knit team with great teamwork mentality. They deserved the title.
Back when there was life in Detroit, with the Pistons and Red Wings at the height of the league, and the Tigers had some strong playoff teams in 2006 and 2011-14
you must be too young to remember the Bad Boys days. Those were awesome too, especially because of the journey to get there having to overcome Boston and the Lakers. I love the 2004 team (we all should as Pistons fans) but damn, the Bad Boys teams were special.
Looking back now because i liked the 00-04 lakers dynasty when i was a kid, i have now so much admiration for this pistons team...when i was a baller in HS i used to copy RIP's free throw style with the extra bounce to the right
Detroit basketball is gone just like that. Drummond took his money and said "fuck it. I don't have to be dominant anymore." Reggie is playing "by myself" ball not basketball. And don't get me started on SVG and how he kept jon leur in that starting lineup for too long. Hope we get top 3 in the lottery tonight even though it's only a 2.5% chance we do and a .7 percent chance we get the number 1 pick.
2004 pistons were so ahead of there time... their grit reminds me of the warriors of now they just went out there and gave it their all on the court! 🔥 🏀 🏆
To this day I have no idea how the Spurs were able to beat these lot to the '05 championship, took super human effort from Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili.
My favourite basketball team off all time! Iam a Washington Wizards fan, and this team has 3 key players who where drafted by the wizards, Hamilton and Sheed, and signed Undrafted Ben Wallace.
I usually watched all the games with my buddies but this game I watched by myself in my basement. This is the first time one of my teams won a championship and the last. I've been a Pistons fan since 1991 as far back as I can remember then I'm still a Pistons fan to this day.
