You should have stick the step-up power wire input on the Rx power pad, instead of going on the batt connector. This way the module is powered ON with EV800's Power switch. Awesome video.

cool mod, i like how you can easily reverse the mod so you could buy the fatshark module and then buy the fatsharks later to spread the costs and still have the ev800 as a ground station. i dont think its worth doing on the ev800d's, the diversity is already very good and it has a dvr, the 800d also has av in which i never got to work at all, . ps i added a inch section to make the goggles 2 inches longer, to reduce eyestrain.

Good work. Any reason to not power the 5V regulator from the disconnected internal module power pins? This way the module will only be powered when the goggles are turned on instead of all the time the battery is plugged in.
Be aware that some EV800 have battery wire color swapped! black=+3.7V! Also this will kill the battery leaving the fatshark module plugged when the goggles turns off. Be aware of this too!
The screen is massive you have to give these goggles at least that.. But with good reception (original reception sucks massive btw) these are the cheapest-highend spectator goggles.

I have this makerfire ev800d. I know this is the clone one, and lower quality. Opened it up, it only has had 1 receiver with 2 antenna (antenna diversity i belive some people called it). Removed the receiver, but when i powered pro58 receiver to power pad from the removed receiver. The google keep powering down. I bought step up to 5V and some micro on off switch, they are still in transit. Going to connect to battery socket on the board. And using on off switch to switch the receiver on off. So it won't suck dry the battery when goggle is off.

(it comes whith an Adapter for this use) I think 5v is connected to the resiver Module, But im Not sure, i moddet Mine and Put an dvr in. Also i used the Power that is connected to the original resiver Module, becourse it can be tuned off. If i would Put a fatshark Module in i would desolder the working resiver Module and solder the original antenna connector on it,so i can use it for something else.
Hey man, I did this mod, and the DVR mod with it. You have to keep the battery inside it tho bc of how much juice its pulling with the diversity mod and dvr. Did the audio for head phones. And I even did the display for the DVR screen. Took some thinking about the DVR menu screen. I had to use 2 of the 5v things you have, and it was really hard to find another spot to use for it, after like 2 hrs of trying I found one. If you need some pics I'll send them to you

I had both ,EV800D is better option ,I did MOD my EV800 and installed a DVR .Both are very good value and excellent receivers ,but the D has the edge for DVR and diversity. I use 1 x Aomway and 1 x Omni Pagoda Antenna's and honestly for me this gives best reception even behind hedge rows and tree's ,top tip be careful with the push buttons as they are very small SMD type and are very difficult to replace.Also fit a 1500mAh lipo on the rear head strap ,just stitch on some elastic and this will balance out the goggles perfectly.
Could you tell us where we should solder the audio pin from receiver in order to have audio too? It would be highly appreciated. Also could we get power from the old receiver in order to power on and off the module with the button? Thank you in advance!

Leave the internal battery in place and just use the power cable provided and route the wire to lipo on the rear of the strap.

The reception on my ev800D was better as the reception of my hd3's with furious true d module, so this is a waste of time and money imo.
