I’m rewatching your backing videos because I am having some difficulties with these spread axles here at Melton. Your technique looks good and I am going to try it out ! Thanks and hope to run into you some day !
No sir, I have my own truck I’m just finding that hitting the sweet spot for some of the smaller crowded truck stops to be very stressful and I just avoid it for now while I get better .
Came across your channel a few days ago and I have to say you're a incredible teacher and I can tell you love teaching. Us newbies need someone like yourself to break it down to us to a science so we can back safely and know exactly what we're doing. I've done about 4 days of research on Melton and listened to the likes of yourself along with the webinars Melton has on it's channel. I've decided Melton is going to be my first trucking home for myself after spending so much time looking and researching all these companies I've come to see Melton respect's and takes great care of their driver's. My plan to get the ball rolling will be around the first week of November. I'm actually excited about this journey being a Man that had his CDL for a year with little to no experience because of the horrific stories I hear about alot of these companies. Don't mean to be long winded but I'm happy about this next chapter in my life I love everything about this trucking business. I never Invision myself doing tarping though but it's something I'm willing to learn I love a challenge. Peace be upon you brotha and your family hopefully when the time comes I can meet you face to face. ✌🏽
Congratulations for obtaining your CDL and I’ll put a link below you can please reach out to someone from Melton through that link. I really appreciate the kind remarks and I hope I continue to pass along informative information intelliapp.driverapponline.com/c/meltontrucklines?r=terrancesmall
Good job. This is the reason why I could never be a trainer. I'm terrible at backing, and there is no way I could teach another driver. So I just know what I can and can't do. I am not the person who should be teaching others.
And that’s nothing to be ashamed of. I completely respect your position and I wish many others who are supposedly training would understand they can’t do it. Students deserve a fair opportunity and that can’t come from an unfair instructor.
Hey 50, still waiting on something for would be trainers, would appreciate anything about the process of becoming a trainer and any advice or tips that they aren't giving during the trainer training that you think would be helpful. I was ready to leave Melton and your videos were a large part of me opting to be a trainer and stay at Melton. Thanks for the great content
i am new to your channel never pulled Flatbed & i am not being judgmental it looks like if a truck on your right side looks like you would have hit the truck. you crossed over in the next parking spot how do i keep from hitting the truck next to me.
That’s a very good question. I always teach my students the red light theory which means if you drive the red light on the driver side rear of the trailer you will be able to back that trailer anywhere you wanted to go. As you’re backing into the hole you gonna watch that red light, and as it is approaching, the painted line on the passenger side just stop prior to that light crossing the yellow line and do a pull forward. That will pull the red light back into your lane and you can straight back right into your hole.
Melton is a flatbed company and we learn the procedure in this video to basically learn reference points while backing. Flatbeds to the vast majority of their backing at jobsites
I have a question maybe you can answer it the cameras that are on the trucks for Swift at a synced in with the drive assess like on the Freightliner just asking because I was supposed to upgrade it yesterday and I couldn’t because he said I was driving too close in a video but he drive assist when I had it on cruise control had them at about the vehicle that was in front me about almost four seconds
You How far ultimately responsible for following distance. Do you have to be very cautious about how close you allow the cab to come between you and a vehicle in front of you.
My CDL test is 9/6 and one of the problems I'm having is lining up straight to setup for maneuvers. Will using the red light help with that? I've been getting lost if I have to pull up as well. Just can't picture the trailer movement properly. I've been good at most everything else but this has me worried. Luckily, I've been able to put it in the hole 85% of the time but if I need to pull up during the test or align properly before a maneuver, I might be screwed. Thanks for any advise in advance. Your trainee is doing great by the way.
Reginald, I want you to NOT turn the steering wheel unless the truck is moving so you can see how the trailer responds. While you’re learning you need to move the steering wheel only while the truck is moving. You’ll be surprised how quickly you will learn what makes the trailer turn a certain way because it will be responding from exactly what you’ve just done with the steering wheel. Slow the truck down so you can have time to recover from the improper adjustment.
@@reggiehill5 yes the red light is the focal point. Think of it in this manner. If you’re in your personal car and you about to make a right turn doesn’t your car follow your right turn signal? It’s the same thing when backing. Your rear tires on your car will follow the pattern set by that right front turn signal.
@@50plustrucker dang man I won’t be at the motel they put us in until the 17th and u got any tips to help me out with my 90 degree alley dock in school at Fleetforce
@@tylerwright9501 use the red light at the end of the trailer on the driver side as your guide. Try to just drive that red light and nothing else just that real light.
