Just a thought on point of impact between a hinge and a thumb button. If you notice most folks shoot a hinge with their hand a little more flat and ring finger further from their face as they do the rotation as opposed to the thumb trigger most turn the release basically vertical to their face. This is putting additional torque on the d loop causing left and right variances between the 2. If you shoot a thumb button flatter like the hinge, it feels more unnatural but the point of impact is the same because the torqe and twist on the d loop is identical to the hinge. Levi morgan did a video on this and I tested it and found it to be true with hand positioning causing left and right misses. Just something to test for yourself and see if you get similar results or not.

Hello and thank you for your suggestion and information. I agree that hand position and release angle along with a bunch of other factors like back wall pressure, angle of pull, shot execution style, hook height (I'm finding that different can be better), eye/peep alignment, and others I'm forgetting are going to go into pairing releases to get a similar point of impact. I hadn't considered d-loop twist as a variable, but I will now.
I took video of myself shooting three different releases (TRU Ball Ultimate Flex, Carter Wise Choice 24, Stan LynX) off the same bow last week (with a second camera on the target recording the impacts). I was hitting in roughly the same spot at 20, so I'll have to check my hand angle and see if I was consistent. I was doing well out to 60, but i start to become inconsistent switching releases too often in a single session
Anyway, thank you for the idea. It'll definitely make it into videos in future 👍

Love your reviews nobody else is as thorough as you!!, also wanted to let you know that in both the stan onnex thumb and resistance if you draw with your index really thigth then there's a chance of the dloop slipping, it has happened to me with both.

Thank you very much for watching and for the kind words. I have heard of people slipping their d-loop through the spring gate, but haven't yet experienced or witnessed it myself. What d-loop material are you using? I use BCY24 and can't imagine there being enough room for that to get through.

@@ajbholsters2035 Hey man, I just recently found your videos and I'm really liking them. Very thorough explanations.
Saw that you are using bcy 24 and mainly shoot target... Have you have ever tried the bcy 23 with spectra coating? I find it to be outstanding and incredibly durable. It is certainly thinner and the ends do not burn as well as the standard 24 but once you get the hang of it, its not too bad. I can easily make 10k shots and it still has plenty of life. The 24 always looks horrible in a fraction of the time, but I do shoot a lot. Often trying to get around 200 arrows a day. I started out using 24 from the local shops a few years back, but it was actually Chris Perkins that turned me on to using the 23 and I haven't looked back.
A Word of caution though, do not use it with dual caliper jaws... its thinner and has a slight chance of pulling through. I use the stan onnex thumb and HBC hinge with no issues.
Best of luck man, keep making videos and I will keep watching them!

@@Matt-jl8xf hello and thank you for watching. I may have to give BCY23 a try. I don't use caliper releases, so the thickness wouldn't be an issue for me. Thanks for the recommendation.

I did have an issue where my string did slide off the hook on my new bow ,to say it wasn’t pretty and 3b was no help when notified of the issue.

Hello and thank you for the info. I haven't had that issue myself with a B3 open-hook release it's something to watch when it comes to angle in which the release is drawn.
I hope it wasn't too expensive for you 🙏
