Hopefully one of these days I'll get out to Utah or Big Sky, as those are supposed to be outright majestic. The events themselves and the target presentations are not exactly practical for anything other than practicing for more TAC, but the idea is to challenge the archer with targets and distances to which they may not have access anywhere else. The terrain can be challenging as well. That said, I think you're right. Most of the people, including myself, would be better off honing out craft at closer yardages before we attempt to lob arrows out past 100 yards. I think TAC might just be part of an elaborate conspiracy by Big Shaft to get archers to buy more arrows. 😜

I think they deserve credit for trying to offer something new to the market, but I find the design insufficient to justify the high price tag. Maybe if it was $100 cheaper I could recommend it, but not $300-350. There are a myriad of better options available for less.

Here's a writeup i did for another person who asked a similar question: The release I tend to recommend most often is the Stan OnneX, particularly the Clicker version because you can set it to be used with or without the click by adjusting the trigger travel. I discuss that in my review on my channel. The reasons I choose the OnneX over the UV Button are as follows: -The OnneX comes in 5 sizes and the sizes are distinct from each other in all dimensions (size, thickness and even the finger attachments are adjusted by 10% between sizes). So you have the best chance of getting a "fitted feel" as compared to other releases. The UV Button comes in 2 sizes, medium and large. The medium would equate to an OnneX Large, and the Large equates to an Extra extra large. -The OnneX comes in a kit with two lengths of thumb peg post, two sizes of thumb peg, 3 and 4 finger attachments, trainer lock pin, and the tools necessary to make adjustments. The UV Button comes as a 3-Finger, and any additional configurations must be purchased separately. -The OnneX's finger attachments are sweep-adjustable. So you can further adjust the handle to fit your hand. The Button's finger attachments are not adjustable. -The position of the hook on the OnneX is fairly "standard" and can be paired up with a variety of other thumb releases and hinges without the need to adjust the archer's anchor point or d-loop length. So if you are looking to use a hinge and a thumb with the same bow, you can mix and match brands of releases to get a combination that works on your bow and gives you the same point of impact without having to match your method of shot execution (i.e. squeezing the trigger on the thumb release will hit in the same spot as executing the hinge with back tension). The UV Button's hook height and position are unique and pairing it with any release except the UV Hinge is far less likely (and it may not give you a similar point of impact with it, either). It may also require adjustments of d-loop length or even draw length in order to anchor comfortably with it. Both releases use a spring-gate to capture your d-loop and hang the release on it. The OnneX opens toward your face and the UV Button opens away from your face. One odd quirk of the Button some archers are encountering is the d-loop can slip between the hook and the spring gate if you draw the release at an odd angle. I've never had this issue because I draw thumb releases with the handle perpendicular to the string. The OnneX does not have that issue due to the direction the hook opens. Both the OnneX and the Button are good releases and if you set your bow up for either one exclusively, you should have good success whichever one you choose. That said, if you have to buy it sight-unseen, your odds of being able to set the release up in a configuration that works for you are the highest with the OnneX. As far as sizing goes, I have printable PDFs on my website (www.artandarchery.com) and www.stanoutdoors.com does as well that you can print you and get an idea of what size you may need. I'm not familiar with how gloves are sized in Australia, but I wear a size Small glove and a Medium OnneX fits my hand perfectly.

@@alexisgon117ag hello and thank you for watching. I doubt there are other brands of changeable hooks (like the Stan MoreX line) that could swap into the Hinge 1.0. I think your best chance would be to join some online groups such as Archerytalk (which has a massive classified section you can access when you meet the requirements) or Facebook groups like Ultraview Junkies. I would be willing to bet if you post on either of those, you should be able to find a private seller who can sell you what you need.

@@calebsmith1454 why is there an assumption that I would be jealous or "butt hurt" of a person when I am criticizing his delivery and his methods? I'm not competing with him for customers. If I'm wrong about him, explain why I'm wrong instead of going the lazy route and calling me "butt hurt". I explained in the video what I disagree with about his methods. If all you got out of that was I'm envious (of what I don't know) then this might not be the channel for you.

@@ZaheerFirdaus thank you for watching. I am not certain what is happening there, though it sounds like the internals got stuck. If you push the thumb peg up towards the top of the release (opposite direction of pulling to engage the draw safety) the hook will open and go slack. You might be able to press it closed while pushing up on the thumb peg and reset the mechanism. If that does not work, I would contact Stan and let them know you are having an issue. I hope it works out.

@@rmvb619 hello and thank you for watching. The Executive's finger beds are a little larger than the Hinge 2.0, and it might be a little thicker. I have PDFs on my website (link in description) that can be printed out to compare, but a TRU Ball medium is a little bit roomier than the Ultraview Medium. As far as adjustability, the Executive can be set much hotter than the Hinge 2.0 due to the angle the head sits when it is against the top of the neck. So it should be able to be set to whatever speed you might need.

@@acebuck3487 thank you very much for watching. I'd say both the UV Button and Ultimate Flex each have their charms and their places in the mix. I think the best thing going for the Ultimate Flex is the ability to have a "shorter than average" hook height. Other than that I think the Button Edges it out in most other metrics.

The clearance between my middle finger and the hook is right when I'm holding it loosely, but when you get to full draw and your fingers are under tension and fully seated into the finger beds, they don't touch. I have small fingers, though, so somebody with thicker fingers might have more of an issue.

It's taken over as my primary hinge because its shortcomings (i.e. lack of micro-adjust sear and no hook return) are outweighed by its strengths (good ergonomics, thumb peg adjustability, head angle conducive with most styles of grip on the draw). Stan responded to my email asking about the hook return fairly quickly, and when I asked for updates on the Onnex Hinge click hooks, they were pretty responsive. So I think they should take care of you fairly quickly. So far my clicks haven't worn down, so I'll consider myself lucky. Update. Spoke to Stan today and they are sending me a new fast-click sear. The guy I spoke with was super nice and seemed genuinely bummed I have this problem. They are handling it no problem which is awesome. My Ex Okie custom barrel arrived today and installed. Had it made 3-16” longer to help my fat thumb from rolling over. This thing is a serious unit now! Keep up the great content as you are able and stay cool.

I just shot more footage last night with 5 different kinds of vanes (same arrow shaft for consistency's sake) and every one of them you can hear it coming from 50 yards away, not to mention the sound of my bow. @@brooksmaxey9745 thank you for watching. I'm not certain where we are at a disagreement. Of course there are variances when encountering uneven ground, uphill and downhill targets, etc. I haven't gotten that far yet. In order to be able to hit a target more than once, regardless of how far, what angle it sits, or what you're standing on, you have to be able to supply the same input to the bow more than once. That's the point I was trying to make, and there are methods and drills that can be employed to make it easier to accomplish.

@ajbholsters2035 I don't think we are in disagreement. I'm just adding some points to the discussion. Look forward to what you have coming up.

I disagree other than having your sight set up for different distances, consistency will remain the same except for the distance factor, which will widen your groups. It's all in form; confidently repeatable form. Now wind, I will agree can be a problematic affect.

@nwbhc you anchor in the same place at 20 as you do at 80? If so you're certainly missing low. My anchor at 80 drops down to my upper neck. Other parts of the shot must remain consistent my point is that you must have repeatable shots not just one. The base and fundamentals stay the same but a bow shot in the circumstances I outlined will be held differently with pressures pointing in different direction so it will inevitably feel different. As a base repeatability is key but I challenge any one to draw and aim at 20, then without letting down direct your aim to even 50 and come back and tell me it didn't change things. This can also be done with a slider. Set your sight to 80 and draw back and aim at a 20 yard target through your peep you'll be looking over the top of your housing.

I adjusted mine recently to a position I can't get with the stock components, so it does offer some unique options in terms of adjustability. I'm not sure his plans on colors, but it wouldn't be the first time the subject has come up.

Hello and thank you for watching. Other than the OnneX Clicker, the standard OnneX thumb allows a little bit of travel, though the adjustment is on a cam system and it's limited. The OnneX Clicker 's click can be disabled and used like a typical Onnex thumb, but that involves reducing the travel to where your starting point is "after" the click. Most thumb releases with travel adjustment can be set with some trigger travel, though I'm not sure of any that have as much as the Clicker. Offhand the ones I've tried out of my collection that have a decent amount of travel are the Hot Shot sear activated thumbs (X Spot, Ember, Hookup, Tempest, and Eclipse), TRU Ball Ultimate Flex, TRU Ball Blade, UV Button, and B3 Versa, versa pro, and Omega (all versions).

Yes, all my OnneX's I use I changed the button head screws that hold the thumb barrel post to the trigger stem with 6-32 x 5/16" socket head screws and the screw for the finger extension to a 6-32 x 3/8" (iirc) socket head screw so I could use a larger Allen key on it without damaging it.

@@JulzA89 if I had to take an educated guess, the extra long post would allow somebody to settle the thumb barrel into the base of the thumb with a fully flattened hand, or it could put the thumb barrel up above the tension screw similarly to the HFE-1. There was enough of a demand that they chose to make one, so somebody's bound to be finding a use for it.

Hello and thank you for watching. If you set this flush with the back of the release, then it's not going to fit an existing holster without modifications. The way I have it set in the video (and on the one rotating in the corner) does fit with enough clearance to rotate it down even further. I'm probably going to end up doing a "signature series" or some such variation if the HFE 1 becomes popular and there is demand for it.

Agreed. I often think of myself in similar terms 😜. It looks like the T800 had some input in its design, but as you said/wrote, form fitting function can trump aesthetics.

The OnneX is fairly heavy for an aluminum release and the HM is a beast, so if you like heavy then it's a good addon As for a black version, that is something I suggested. I'm going to have to expand on this idea at some point (maybe as it to my sizing guide sheets or start making spreadsheets) when I find the time, but it's definitely something to look for when a new product comes out. As for a release similar to the Carter Atension, are you looking for a Thumb or a Hinge? If you like releases with an aggressively swept-back handle, the Scott Select and the TRU Ball "Flex" models of hinge can be set with a lot of sweep (Executive Flex, HBC Flex and Fulkrum Flex). For thumbs, the Scott Apex, Scott Apex Core, Carter Just B Cuz or Insatiable, and the TRU Ball GOAT, Blade Pro Flex, Trident Flex, and Ultimate Flex have a similar sweep to the hinges. I'm sure there are others, but that could cover the most aggressive handles.

I think the original Arojac is more effective than the 2.0. The rubber or whatever new material they used for the arrow clamp on the 2.0 does not grip as well as the original, and the original has a much longer stroke than the 2.0. it's bigger, heavier, and clankier than the 2.0, but the damn thing pulls arrows better than anything else I've tried. They should have just refined that one instead of trying to make it smaller.

That's a tough call because I like both for different reasons, but I think you get a lot more with the OnneX than the Ultimate Flex. The OnneX comes in 5 sizes, and the sizes change in all dimensions, including the handle thickness and finger attachments. So it's going to give you most "fitted" feel of any thumb release out there. The Ultimate Flex has a nice feel and is very well-constructed, but the trigger on it feels like that of cheaper thumb releases (no wall, no crisp break, low-medium trigger tension). The OnneX is a descendant of the PerfeX, and has a phenomenal trigger that can be set in a variety of ways from light to heavy and from a crisp break with almost no perceptible travel, to one with more travel and a softer, less-defined break. On top of that, the OnneX comes with 3 and 4 finger attachments, large and small thumb barrel, short and long thumb barrel post, the Allen wrenches to make adjustments, and a trainer lock pin so you can use it for draw and letdown drills. The Ultimate Flex comes as a 3-Finger with a multi-axis thumb barrel. That's it, and it doesn't come with any tools. It does come in medium and large, but the Flex finger is the same on both, and the difference is hard to spot if you don't have them next to each other. So I think I just wrote myself into recommending the OnneX over the Ultimate Flex. I know it's been out for longer, but I saw a lot of people using the OnneX at TAC Seven Springs, but I didn't see anyone using an Ultimate Flex (other than myself). If you have any questions, please let me know, and good luck with your search for a new release. If you do choose the OnneX, I would recommend going with the Clicker over the T because if you decide you don't like the click, you can adjust the travel to disable it. Hello and thank you for checking out my content. Between those two, the OnneX and Whisper, I think I would go with the OnneX, as I've found the OnneX pairs up to the HBC Flex very well. So your anchor may feel the same between the two releases. The OnneX has a greater range of adjustability in terms of trigger travel, tension and configuration (2, 3 and 4 finger, sweep adjustable, and a multi-axis thumb barrel). The Aluminum OnneX isn't significantly more expensive than the Whisper 2 to boot. The Whisper feels good in the hand, but I don't think it's in the same category as the OnneX.

@ajbholsters2035 appreciate the response. I've had an opportunity to check out the onnex, though never fired it. Feels nice in the hand. The whisper 2 caught my eye because of the short neck. I'm at 28" dl, so giving some up is not an option. Thanks again and keep up the cool content

If you can get your hands in the Whisper, you might find you like it better, but you shouldn't be giving up any draw length with the OnneX given you are set up for the HBC (they're very close to the same hook height if they're not the same).
