      @@acebuck3487 thank you very much for watching. I'd say both the UV Button and Ultimate Flex each have their charms and their places in the mix. I think the best thing going for the Ultimate Flex is the ability to have a "shorter than average" hook height. Other than that I think the Button Edges it out in most other metrics.

    Although i dont shoot a handheld release, i still watch all your videos. I plan on starting to try a thumb soon. Ive been archery for 15 years. but only as a hobby for bow hunting. I shoot a stan solex. I set my tension very high with 0 travel. So im pulling against and brick wall. And i have it short so i can wrap to my second knuckle. No punching here and use steady back tension. Im pretty accurate up to 60.

      Thank you for watching. There is something for everybody when it comes to handheld release aids, so I hope your find the one that works for you.
      I've heard good things about the Solex, and if I was going to use a wrist strap, that one would be on my short list. The Scott S2 has my interest as well.

    Your videos are always thorough and detailed, and definitely more of a "review" instead of an "overview" like some channels i see. Really was interested in this release, I'm not a big fan of the Trident style of hook and trigger design, much prefer a blade jaw or something spring loaded like that. Aside that, I'm really looking forward to your video of the wise choice 24 you were piddling with throughout. Thanks!

    • @ajbholsters2035

      Thank you for watching. The triggers on the Trident and Ultimate Flex are definitely an acquired taste, and I would have liked something more like the Blade with a proper wall and break point. They can grow on you, but I'm a proponent of releases that work the way I want them to versus adjusting my form or technique to accommodate them.
      I started writing a script for the Wise Choice 24, but I have two videos planned to do next. So I'll give it a good once-over as soon as those are shot, edited and posted.

      Thank you very much for checking out my videos.
      I'll let you know the ones I always find myself going back to versus the ones in my collection that I like for one reason or another but I don't end up actually using.
      The ones I use myself are:
      For a thumb release I am partial to the Stan Onnex Clicker for its fit (5 sizes, 2 materials, comes as a kit for customization without having to purchase extra parts) and versatility (you can disable the click and use it as a regular Onnex Thumb with minimal trigger travel).
      That said, lately I've been using the Ultimate Flex primarily and forcing myself to get used to laying my thumb on the barrel and methodically pulling the trigger. I was punchy as hell in the B-Roll I used in this video and I'm trying to kick that habit. I'm better now that I'm shooting more often, and the Stan Clicker is helping with that as well.
      For a hinge I like the Stan LynX and the TRU Ball Executive Flex. The Executive Flex is very easy to manipulate due to the aggressive set of the head, and the LynX I like because of the customizable position of the Thumb peg as well as the variety of sizing.
      Out of all the releases I own, lately I've been finding myself sticking with those three.
      They all have positives and drawbacks, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

      @@ajbholsters2035 Thank you for the great reply . i have been using the Stan Onnex Thumb buttom and Hinge for the past year. i'm trying to decide if the Ultimate flex or the Onnex Clicker like i have intended to switch to would be my next release. part of me wants to try the Nock on silverback but i think that maybe a waste of money.

    • @ajbholsters2035
      @ajbholsters2035  3 месяца назад +1

      @@cseckel62 my pleasure. The Silverback and other Resistance Activated releases have their purposes, and it all depends on what you are trying to do with them. Personally I could never get comfortable using them because I don't like not knowing when the shot is going to break. So I would just start yanking on them like I was trying to start a lawnmower. Consequently I found a hinge with a fast click to be more to my liking.

    I absolutely always appreciate your reviews man! Keep up the good work! I am looking to upgrade to either the Ultimat Flex or the Stan Onnex T. What are your thoughts?

    • @ajbholsters2035
      @ajbholsters2035  2 месяца назад

      Thank you very much for watching and for the kind words. I'm really glad people are finding them useful.
      That's a tough call because I like both for different reasons, but I think you get a lot more with the OnneX than the Ultimate Flex. The OnneX comes in 5 sizes, and the sizes change in all dimensions, including the handle thickness and finger attachments. So it's going to give you most "fitted" feel of any thumb release out there. The Ultimate Flex has a nice feel and is very well-constructed, but the trigger on it feels like that of cheaper thumb releases (no wall, no crisp break, low-medium trigger tension). The OnneX is a descendant of the PerfeX, and has a phenomenal trigger that can be set in a variety of ways from light to heavy and from a crisp break with almost no perceptible travel, to one with more travel and a softer, less-defined break.
      On top of that, the OnneX comes with 3 and 4 finger attachments, large and small thumb barrel, short and long thumb barrel post, the Allen wrenches to make adjustments, and a trainer lock pin so you can use it for draw and letdown drills.
      The Ultimate Flex comes as a 3-Finger with a multi-axis thumb barrel. That's it, and it doesn't come with any tools. It does come in medium and large, but the Flex finger is the same on both, and the difference is hard to spot if you don't have them next to each other.
      So I think I just wrote myself into recommending the OnneX over the Ultimate Flex. I know it's been out for longer, but I saw a lot of people using the OnneX at TAC Seven Springs, but I didn't see anyone using an Ultimate Flex (other than myself).
      If you have any questions, please let me know, and good luck with your search for a new release. If you do choose the OnneX, I would recommend going with the Clicker over the T because if you decide you don't like the click, you can adjust the travel to disable it.
      I think that about covers it, but if there's any other info I can provide, please let me know.
      Take care, stay safe and happy hunting 👍.

    I wonder, how much does it actually cost Truball to manufacture and sell these in the US? The price and what they do and don't have with it doesn't bother me assuming they're in the "we gotta make
    money" zone vs the "screw these customers" zone.

    • @ajbholsters2035
      @ajbholsters2035  3 месяца назад +1

      I'm not sure what their exact production cost is, though I know the dealer costs of some of these, so MSRP is between 3-4X the cost to produce them. They're based in Virginia, which is not the highest or lowest in terms of labor rates. They machine most, if not all of their products in-house, and they do a good job of it.
      However, Stanislawski Archery is based in New York, machines all their parts in-house and manages to sell their releases at a lower price point along with offering more accessories in the package. Stan doesn't have the equivalent of a small army of staff and sponsored shooters, though, so they don't have as much overhead in terms of sponsorships, staff shooters, or marketing. Similarly to UV, TRU Ball products carry a certain premium for their name.
      I don't think they're going to become millionaires any time soon, but I also think including the 4-finger flex piece and a few wrenches wouldn't break them, either.
      Either way, thank you for watching and for the comment 👍

    Love the video. Have you done a review on the GOAT?

    • @ajbholsters2035
      @ajbholsters2035  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for watching. I haven't reviewed the GOAT yet, but the gist of my opinion on it is I'm not a fan of releases that try to do more than one thing because compromises have to be made to one or both to accommodate the other. In the case of the GOAT, the hinge function suffers because the handle isn't designed to be manipulated like a hinge because it has the handle of a thumb release (same complaint can be made of the Stan OnneX Hinge), and the thumb release function suffers because the hook doesn't auto-reset and can't be locked on the d-loop. Switching between modes requires turning screws and pushing out pins. It's not difficult, but it's not something you can do easily between ends and the parts are easily misplaced.
      Long story short, my recommendation is to carry a separate hinge and thumb release and learn to execute them in a fashion that gives you a similar point of impact.

    • @OnTheMUV-PerformanceAndPurpose
      @OnTheMUV-PerformanceAndPurpose 3 месяца назад

      Thank you for the quick and thorough response! I’m looking to move away from the UV button / hinge combo due to a neck length that pushes my anchor point back just enough to be uncomfortable.
      I’ve tried the Stan onnex but absolutely hate the ergonomics due to a rounder/fatter finger bed.
      What other Thumb/ Hinge combo would you recommend with said particularities considered?

    • @ajbholsters2035
      @ajbholsters2035  3 месяца назад

      @@OnTheMUV-PerformanceAndPurpose my pleasure 👍. I'm happy to help.
      So if the OnneX is off the table, I won't bother recommending it or the LynX because the handle is the same except for the neck that goes between your index and middle finger. It doesn't spread your index and middle finger on the LynX as much as the OnneX and the hook location makes it feel more like a hinge than the OnneX Hinge.
      It's tough to beat a TRU Ball HBC or Executive Flex for a hinge, and the Blade, Rave, Trident, and Ultimate Flex should pair up to them fairly easily.
      Depending on how much you're planning on spending, I might be able to come up with a few other pairings like the B3 Tanjent or BT Pro and the new Versa Pro. Those are a bit more reasonable and should pair up well.
      I'm planning on going to TAC with a Stan LynX and a TRU Ball Ultimate Flex because I can shoot them out of the same bow and hit together at distance, so the brand of release doesn't necessarily need to be the same.

      My holsters run from $30-46US plus shipping and can be found in the Links in the description. The one in the thumbnail would cost $40.
