You are very wrong about usage constraints of CC BY-SA 3.0. There is important *SA* abbreviation. ShareAlike - If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original. So it looks like your game must be GPLv3 compatible after all.
The game assets that were created with it must be licensed the same, not the game itself. That is important distinction to make. I can code a closed-source game with a proprietary license, and make the assets I created with this licensed CC BY-SA 3.0 and "open-source", and still be compliant. Different components of a game/project can be licensed differently, very often are, and very often must be to be abide by the licenses of their dependencies.
Eric Freed is exactly right. They worded ShareAlike pretty badly, but you can use those assets in games without needing to license the game the same way, and even if you need to edit the asset, it's OK as long as you distribute the modified asset with the same license. For example, I modified an asset with that license that I got from opengameart & I posted the modified asset on my own OGA page. Now I am free to use that modified asset in a commercial project.
So it's basically a free version of Game Character Hub Portfolio Edition. Without the ability to edit official RPG Maker assets, but with almost as many options. Not bad.
Cool find but I’m really looking for something more specialized, if anyone knows of any 4 bit 16x16 sprite generators. I’m working on a gameboy style game and haven’t found any decent sprite generators in this range as of yet.
This is almost exactly what I'm looking for, but I need to find one for full character sprites that's not pixel art. Or, at least a framework where I can add in my own pieces to make the sprites I need.
really good, i'd rather make my own assets but still really good for placeholder animations, the only problem is that it only provides 4 directions, wich is ok if you're making a isometric game where the players can't walk on diagonals XD
Tree of Savior sprites look like Final Fantasy Tactics sprites, which are basically a polished version of SNES Final Fantasy sprites. I assume the LPC sprites are also based on SNES JRPGs.
The bigest downide of all of thise sprite sheet creator stuffs is they made a big mistake. Check 4:02 the second and last img. They are mirrored and the weapon holding hand is swapped. No clue why they do this. Probably lazyness and easyer to just flip the img and call it as done. Im not a big fan of weapon hand swaps on animation. Otherwise it is a good site. I wish they fix this issue but till this point they did not.
@@fivebrosstopmos No they stil not fixed, i just checked a second ago. Just select 1 weapon example a shield for a character and check the attack animation sheet. attack right: shield held in RIGHT hand attack left: shield held in LEFT hand So i have no clue where did u get this info from.
@@daniel-zh9nj6yn6y hey a bit late, do you know a better software for that. The spritesheet are not the same size when i cut them(LEFT and RIGHT directions for example)
Found this at least a couple of years ago. I thought it might be a solution to getting character sprites for the project o was working on, but the deal breaker for me, i seem to remember, was that it didn't do diagonal upwards sprites, and i really wanted the character to be animated is all eight directions. Such a shame, really, as crude as the interface is, its a great tool but for that one drawback. Is there a better/more functional alternative - whats the nearest paid option?
Anna Belle Alas, not so. It does not create animations of the charater facing diagonal up at all, therefore there is no equivalent frames of animation to rotate. Its a sprite not a 3D model, therefore there isn't an image created that can result in the character facing that direction. But you must know that if you've used it? Right?
and again, indie gamedev is cancer, because everyone use same assets, same music, same sprites, same models where is the handcrafted stuff ? died ? please stop promoting easy asset-flip tools

I can't open this link
Thanks a lot mate!
Good to have a base spritesheet you could further customize for your characters and animations...
Nice.
Its too bad that this doesnt have a jump animation. Otherwise this is awesome!
To get back to the base Level tint, you probably have to choose "white" which is the identity vector (i.e. White = {1,1,1,1}).
6:27 fave quote, loved the pause xD

This is actually pretty awesome? I wonder why other comments are not more hyped about it
The simplicity. I love it.
I remember this from way back. Pretty nifty, I agree.
You have to reset the number by entering 0, the RGB part
Thank you for sharing! It's a clever tool, especially for beginners (i.e. me). :-)
OMG this was such an amazing tool! Thank you so much!
/Maybe do grafx2 next! its a 2d pixel art/sprite editor like aseprite but free and for basically every platform imaginable lol
So it's basically a free version of Game Character Hub Portfolio Edition. Without the ability to edit official RPG Maker assets, but with almost as many options.
Not bad.
Thank you for this! Its awesome!
Subtitles at 00:00
His carrot gay from scratch!
No frameworks needed
Always happy to see a new video from you pop up in my feed!
Keep it up!
Wish this has the ability to create top down from the top of head point of view and a little more portioned to actually body sizes
To remove colour overlay add negative of what you entered. e.g. If add 128 to red to remove enter -128 in the red box and click change colours
That art is from OpenGameArt I remember, I make a demo of a game using those assets.
Just crack in a negative number of the initial RGB offset to undo the tint in the sprite generator.
Can you upload your own clothes/weapons/items? Or can you only use whats in the program?
Hello I’m quite late, but have you found out if this is possible? 😬
Yes, you can do that.
Thanks man! I've been looking for this tool :D
I'll use this for my next game: Naked Guy and the Device of Doom
so can we use this in our projects? licenses are confusing! how can I use this on my project if i made a few characters with it ?
Yes, there's now a credits button, just download that with each character and paste the text into the credits in your game.
Thanks for the share! been looking into doing sprites again, this could be interesting to play around with.
THIS IS AMAZING THANK U SO MUCH ILY
"I like quick and dirty tbh" yeeeeeeeeeeeah budddy don't we all hahahah
Cool, Remembers me of Charas ex back in my gamemaker days
thank you so much , i need it
most updated and fresh content
2024 and it have problems generating items and clothing on rest of sprites
thx sir 😁
This really cool & useful looking. Am I able to take these sprites & use them with the RPG Maker XP?
I wish there was a large coat or trench coat cosmetic, I was trying to make a character from a book I’m writing

Did you ever find anything?
Dude take it easy with the caffeine
damn that's really nice

Look at Character Creator 2D. It's a Unity asset, not 3D but quite nice
can the sprite be used for games
Hey there! Do you know what's up the the new "ArmorySDK-2019-08"? V.06 now declared "legacy".. should we use the 08?
does not work anymore for jumping and running
Thank you
wish it would be with more than 4 directions
Can you just download the assets like weapons and cloths so you can modify it to your needs
Yes, through OpenGameArt.
Thanks :)
Very cool.
Can the sprites be used for commercial products
amazing
How to download the sprite
U are the real mvp
really good, i'd rather make my own assets but still really good for placeholder animations, the only problem is that it only provides 4 directions, wich is ok if you're making a isometric game where the players can't walk on diagonals XD
So you can save these animations and put them into a 2d unity file to build with?
Exactly
I find the slash attack annoying. Instead of a simple slash, it's a backhand slash.
I need help immediately, how will I be able to slice these all apart in unity?
How do I figure out the x, y offset of the attack animations? When i try to animate them, they arent 64x64 like the walking animations
Some of the larger weapons attack frames are 128x123.
I have tried to use this several times and I can't get any program to cut them separately i keep having the whole sheet uploaded.
After exporting try the spritesheet slicer at www.gamedeveloperstudio.com
THX Boi
Is there a Way this can go into RPG Develper Bakin?
Good tool
Can this be used in stardew valley mod
Anybody know where it saves to, couldn't find it after I saved it
Is this tool open source? If so where can I find the Repository for it?
Can I use it for the upper lobe?
Looks a lot like the character sprites from Tree of Savior.
Tree of Savior sprites look like Final Fantasy Tactics sprites, which are basically a polished version of SNES Final Fantasy sprites. I assume the LPC sprites are also based on SNES JRPGs.
Only way I see to reset the color tint is to just refresh the page.
Try inputting a negative number of your initial offset.
totally didn't come here looking for FNF help-
wanna try.
yo is this guy called my carrot gay? cos thats what the CC says he says at 0:00
Is there a way to import the whole program into a game in order to get infinite procedurally generated NPCs?
Sadly no, for that you would not to get the code for the website
Yes, it's open source on github. It was actually created for a game.

Into the trash it goes
is this loyalty free :)?
Try entering zero. :)
I can't use this sprite sheet in gdevelop at all. Any advice would be helpful
Try Alferd Spritesheet Unpacker, it's free. It lets you cut out individual frames, then make a new sprite sheet.
@@daniel-zh9nj6yn6y Thank you. By the way have you ever tried the game engine manu
@@813South No, I haven't tried it.

The original licenses I believe. Cc-BY or GPL v3

No Jump sprites on that though. lame

Omg first sorry for lame comment I just dont know what to say!
Don't post then.
You really oversell this thing. Not very impressive at all.

Yes

take it easy dude, its a great tool for placeholder animations
My 12 year old loves this!
Ya let me just hire a team of artists quick.
instead of linking to the actual tool you link to your blog, wack asf bro. Might as well have just told us to google it ourselves.
