You should ask the artist if you can reproduce it as greating cards. Or even put it on mugs or tiles. That way you could retain the painting, and the gift could keep on giving!
keep it please. It is a lovely picture - so put it on the wall in the cafe so thousands of people can admire it when they visit Mapperton and see it on the wall in the cafe as they enjoy the lovely things to eat and drink in the cafe - that way thousands of people will be reminded of the history re your lovely duck
I think Quackers painting should go with the rest of the family paintings so future generations can relate the story of Quackers as they give tours throughout the home.
I agree. I would write the history of Quackers and attach it to the back of the painting. Add newspaper clippings, too. This way, a person 100 years from now, will get to learn about him and his place in your family.
Keep it, as the artist was heartfelt in her inspiration to design and present the painting to you, in remembrance of quackers, a much missed and well loved member of the Mapperton family ❤️
I think you should keep Quackers’ portrait because he has become a legend in his own time. It will also remind all of you how kind everyone was and in sharing your grief over the senseless loss of a pet.
Julie the painting of Qauckers is beautiful ...i say keep it but get prints made of it to sell and everyone can have a little bit of Qauckers and the original will be with u at his home and resting place and everyone who bought a print can say its the same picture that hangs at Mapperton ....its a great way to immortalize him forever ..and share the love all around . its a darling picture of him and his friends and i think the artist did a wonderful job of catching his every beauty ... RIP sweet Qauckers
I concur with the idea - with the artist’s permission - of selling reproductions and keeping the original as part of a suitable memorial. Thank you for your considerable efforts. All best from another Illinois girl.
Luke's projects are going to be so interesting to watch develop. The new wild flower biodiversity project, bringing in more beavers, creating Quakers Pond, stream management. In addition to all the estate upkeep and remodeling to make new vacation residences. His head must be spinning with all the details of management and prioritizing. Fascinating to watch.
Please keep the painting, but ask the artist if you can make prints for posters, playing cards, greeting cards, calendars etc. for people to buy to raise money for the fountain.
I think you should keep the portrait, and put it up somewhere so that Quackers will be remembered. And be sure, if you haven't done so yet, to record the events somewhere in the muniment room.
When Luke talks, it is so educational it is so like brilliant I love hearing about the land, the bees going to the flowers in the field and and all of it it’s marvelous
I think Quackers’s painting is as much a part of your family story as all the other paintings hanging there now. Being an international story as well, his image should be represented there. And such a worthy painting too. I’d put him in the hallway near Luke’s picture as a young man.
Really really nice. Luke's chat about dams and wildflower pastures was super interesting. In the U.K., are housing developments and whatnot required to build retention ponds for streets and parking lots to drain in to? Here in the U.S., they are doing that more and more, particularly places like Florida.
I agree with what the others have said, that after asking permission from the artist, I would produce things that people can buy, and THAT can be used to help pay for the duck pond. Maybe it will be a whole duck garden!
Better add my vote for you keeping the painting, Julie. It was painted with so much love and it is an irreplaceable story for you and Mapperton’s history. The suggestions for making prints for other things is brilliant, as loriestevenson and others suggested.
Make a digital copy to keep for posterity & house history if you decide to sell the duck painting for fundraising. It was a very thoughtful gesture by the artist.
The painting is a part of the story at Mapperton; perhaps you can have prints made for sale. I am of the opinion that selling it would be in poor taste. JMHO. Love to you both. Merry holidays~
Keep the pic of Quackers in the cafe. If you want to raise funds, sell tickets to win it, or as others have said if allowed, put the picture on things the cafe sells. I love how Luke keeps coming up with great ideas about the land.
For the location for the ducks, it looks good! My parents had ducks visit their yard, very small opening among the trees... they were able to land and take off. This space is quite a bit larger... I think you have a strong choice for success here! :) Yay!!!
JULIE: you should try on Alberta’s Dress and take a picture of it while wearing. I realize it’s an antique but to do it justice you must try it on and take your picture with it and then you can slip it right back off.
Please do not do this. You could do so much damage accidentally by trying on a dress of this vintage. I realize you are very slender Julie, but the undergarments worn at that time were vastly different, and the fabric and beading of that dress looks so very fragile. I am a museum curator who unfortunately witnessed--did not approve and almost quit over the incident--a woman put on her dress that her mother donated to our collection that she (woman, not mother) had worn as a much younger woman. The dress ripped and cost the museum so much to get it repaired. This was a dress made in the 1970s. It was horrific. I do not even want to imagine the level of damage that could be possible to Alberta's dress. Please do not do this.
I absolutely agree with the comments, keep the original and ask the brilliant artists permission to reproduce the paining on cards, gifts etc and to use that money towards the memorial pond. Xx
I’m so interested in the plans for the field! I was thinking about how it will look in 30 years, getting excited to see it then remembered, in 30 years, I’ll be 100, if I live! My Mom died in February at 99 & 4 months. Nope, might not make it! Mom would have been so interested in this project as well as the Beavers. I thought how Quackers portrait looks like a Beatrix Potter story character! Perhaps, a book for children about her happy life at Mapperton with her friends. Maybe a gift for my Great-granddaughter?!
I think you should get a print made and sell them in the gift store. Keep one for yourself put the other painting On sale auction, whatever to raise the funds for the pond . You’re very lucky to have all those wonderful apples.!!
PLEASE keep it hunnie, I can see your holding back your tears.❤ Quackers is part of your family's history. Belongs on your wall or just a idea. Put the beautiful painting in a enclosed waterproof case and hang it on the entrance. It would be a beautiful welcoming. Hugs too you and your family. Sincerely Sandra
It's my opinion that she has done such a wonderful job memorializing Quackers, that you should keep the painting to help tell the story of Quackers. You can then have an image of the painting put on the sign at Quackers Memorial pond.
Loving the Quacker painting….my vote is to keep it on display and have post cards, notes, stationery, etc made with the likeness. The monies received to be used as donation to memorial fund.
Keep Quackers painting. Remove that concrete tractor pad and replace it with a bridge and conduit. Have you considered beavers to create a natural pond for the pond and control excessive rain.
If you sell the painting, you could have a lottery where people could buy a chance at winning the painting. Or the painting could be part of a gallery wall dedicated to animals of Mapperton. Alberta's dress is stunning.
The stream meanders are good. Put in some rocks to protect the banks that are eroding. Straightening the stream will speed up the water. You need to enlist the beavers’ help in modifying the streamflow.
KEEP the painting of Quackers. Hang it in the cafe. Ask the artist if she would be willing to give you permission to print a copy of the painting on your annual calendar, or as one of your greeting cards/blank cards, something like that. You could use proceeds from the card or calendar or such toward the Quackers Memorial Pond.
You and Luke were so entertaining tasting your apple cider! The painting would do honor to Quackers to hang it in the cafe. Perhaps, with the artist’s permission, you could do cards, postcards, and/or mugs, etc. Selling the painting would give you a one shot money maker, but keeping it, and making things to sell in its likeness could be an ongoing money maker. What a beautiful gift for Mapperton! I hope you are successful in acquiring another permit to get more beavers. Interesting concept about the development of your clover and grass field. 110% recovery is a good law! Wildflowers are going to be GORGEOUS! Biodiversity what a fantastic idea for Mapperton! Love from Pennsylvania, USA💕🌷🐻.
I was laughing out loud with the apple juice footage... it's been ca while since we've seen the "Luke and Julie show"!! Keep the painting -- it can be the gift that keeps on giving if you turn it into note cards or 5x7 prints to sell in your gift shop/cafe.
The Quacker's painting is beautiful!! I would keep the original painting and perhaps ask the artist if she would be willing to sell prints to raise funds.
You need to keep the QUACKERS painting with your families history! It needs to remind future visitors that animals matter and are loved! The water is telling you that you picked a place that nature does not want a dam to be located. “UNTIL YOU LISTEN TO NATURE--YOU WILL ALWAYS LOSE!”
You do want some watee going around or through the dam. You have the right idea about rewelcoming the beavers to help shore up the pond’s infrastructure.
I like that area if the subsoil will hold but not sure you need to dig it out. If you put beaver there, they would do it for you as they build the pond- they dig deep channels are know how to prevent erosion.
I would suggest making cards and prints to sell both in the shop and online. I would then auction the original along with other items/experiences of interest to raise funds for the pond.
Make prints of the picture, postcards of it, save the big one for a big auction? It is wonderful just as it is! Yellow is so cheery and so is the image! Maybe even have someone make a glass runner duck, quackers, as an ornament? That would be big fun to hang on a tree for Christmas. :)
Keep the Quackers portrait. It should be now a part of Mapperton, just as Quackers was. However, you might think of reframing with a larger frame, preferably with a gold leaf (donated or thrifted by Julie in Italy 🙂).
I feel you should keep the painting of Quackers, as part of the family. However, you could take photos ( postcard size 4x8 inches on good quality paper) of Quacker's painting, a limited number, and sell those to raise money for the Quacker's Memorial pond. I am an amateur watercolor artist, and I paint Christmas cards, but keep the originals and give away the photos for Christmas cards.

You should ask the artist if you can reproduce it as greating cards. Or even put it on mugs or tiles. That way you could retain the painting, and the gift could keep on giving!
Best idea for all concerned. So many of us could then enjoy and support his memory.
My thoughts exactly; keep the painting and have prints made for sale.
Great idea.
I think that is a wonderful idea!!
I like this ides the best. What say you, Angie?
keep it please. It is a lovely picture - so put it on the wall in the cafe so thousands of people can admire it when they visit Mapperton and see it on the wall in the cafe as they enjoy the lovely things to eat and drink in the cafe - that way thousands of people will be reminded of the history re your lovely duck
Keep the painting at Mapperton but make cards and prints, mugs etc to sell in the gift shop and online.
Fantastic Idea!!!!!!❤
I think Quackers painting should go with the rest of the family paintings so future generations can relate the story of Quackers as they give tours throughout the home.
I concur.
Same here
I agree. I would write the history of Quackers and attach it to the back of the painting. Add newspaper clippings, too. This way, a person 100 years from now, will get to learn about him and his place in your family.
Agreed, things that may seem mundane to us compared to centuries-old history will probably be looked at in the same way centuries from now.
Keep it, as the artist was heartfelt in her inspiration to design and present the painting to you, in remembrance of quackers, a much missed and well loved member of the Mapperton family ❤️
Keep the painting of Quackers... Absolutely!!!!
I think you should keep Quackers’ portrait because he has become a legend in his own time. It will also remind all of you how kind everyone was and in sharing your grief over the senseless loss of a pet.
She not he
Keep it as a memorial for Quackers.... I love the idea of you hanging it in the cafe.
Keep the painting of Quackers as a memorial to him at the estate.

Please keep the painting, but ask the artist if you can make prints for posters, playing cards, greeting cards, calendars etc. for people to buy to raise money for the fountain.
This!!! Prints and cards etc.. tell the story and share info also about the artist.
@@tonjakim Agreed. Maybe the artist can create a picture book and story of Quacker and friends adventures.
Keep Quackers lovely painting.
I think you should keep the portrait, and put it up somewhere so that Quackers will be remembered. And be sure, if you haven't done so yet, to record the events somewhere in the muniment room.
I just love the variety between Julie & Luke's projects. I don't find any of it boring at all.
Keep it, you can make postcards from it to raise money. It's beautiful.
Keep the painting as an everlasting memory of a friendly & loved pet!
Julie's Energy is Sky High.....you are aging backwards, Julie! ❤❤❤Yes, keep painting and sell posters, cards, mugs etc of it
When Luke talks, it is so educational it is so like brilliant I love hearing about the land, the bees going to the flowers in the field and and all of it it’s marvelous
They both take me away for moments, too a place that love and life is so beautiful.
Thank use.

KEEP IT, it tells a story! Keep it in memory of this sweet little duck for future generations!🦆
Julie - I think that you should keep Quacker's painting as it is a great thing to remember her by.
I agree, maybe you could have the painting printed and sell them as large prints and or postcards to raise money.

Julie keep the painting for the history that is what Mapperton is all about❤❤
I'm going with the team " keep the beautiful painting". It is so special for your family. Liebe Grüße aus Germany
Keep the pic of Quackers in the cafe. If you want to raise funds, sell tickets to win it, or as others have said if allowed, put the picture on things the cafe sells. I love how Luke keeps coming up with great ideas about the land.
Could you make print copies to sale and Jeep the original?
Definitely, keep this Absolutely Wonderful Painting of Quackers.
It Reflects a Beautiful Memory of the Mapperton Family
Keep the painting. It means more to you than anyone else
Keep the picture. Have post cards and numbered prints made of the painting to sell so many others can contribute to the pond fund.
Love the field of wildflowers plan ❤ Yay!! I so appreciate what you're trying to do Luke.
For the location for the ducks, it looks good! My parents had ducks visit their yard, very small opening among the trees... they were able to land and take off. This space is quite a bit larger... I think you have a strong choice for success here! :) Yay!!!
Had a lovely day at Mapperton today visiting the Wonderful Christmas Market despite the stormy weather.😍🦆🦆🐢🎄🎅🏻
Thank you for commenting! I hope someday I can come to the market! Yay!!!
Keep the duck picture and use it as the trademark for the 'Quackers’ memorial and cards, etc. Just an idea from a Tennessee girl.
JULIE: you should try on Alberta’s Dress and take a picture of it while wearing. I realize it’s an antique but to do it justice you must try it on and take your picture with it and then you can slip it right back off.

Love the stream! So pretty. Such a sunny day too! ❤
I think you should keep the painting, but ask the artist if you could have it digitally scanned to sell prints.
I think it is a wonderful location.
I think you should keep the painting. It will mean more to you than to any others. It is a beautiful memory to have. Amazing painting!
LUKE: YES to This Pond Site. Beautiful Area especially with the Stream nearby
Love the devotion you have for the rewilding project to help heal the earth.
Please make the painting into greeting cards!!!🤩🤩🤩❤️🩹
I would encourage you to keep it. It is lovely!
I think you should get a print made and sell them in the gift store. Keep one for yourself put the other painting
On sale auction, whatever to raise the funds for the pond . You’re very lucky to have all those wonderful apples.!!
Please keep the painting as a remembrance of Quackers.
Luke, will you be keeping bees once you establish the wildflower meadows ? You could market the honey 🍯
PLEASE keep it hunnie,
I can see your holding back your tears.❤
Quackers is part of your family's history.
Belongs on your wall or just a idea.
Put the beautiful painting in a enclosed waterproof case and hang it on the entrance.

Hugs too you and your family.
Sincerely Sandra
Please keep it
I agree with the comments suggesting that you keep the painting and have cards made and perhaps t-shirts, mugs, etc. to raise more funds for the pond.
What an exciting and well planned biodiversity program! Looking forward to witnessing it develop!
It's my opinion that she has done such a wonderful job memorializing Quackers, that you should keep the painting to help tell the story of Quackers. You can then have an image of the painting put on the sign at Quackers Memorial pond.
Keep Quackers Painting. We Can ALL Donate to his Fund

The idea of planting with wild flowers is brilliant
Loving the Quacker painting….my vote is to keep it on display and have post cards, notes, stationery, etc made with the likeness. The monies received to be used as donation to memorial fund.
You should keep the painting!! It's beautiful and it belongs to the family.
The hedge will also be wonderful, as is the next step of bringing in the ecologist. Working on the project with the council and management overall.
The stream meanders are good. Put in some rocks to protect the banks that are eroding. Straightening the stream will speed up the water. You need to enlist the beavers’ help in modifying the streamflow.
I think you should keep the painting of quackers and put it in your restaurant there at mapperton for everybody to see
KEEP the painting of Quackers. Hang it in the cafe. Definitely agree with everyone, keep the painting and have cards, coasters made for us to purchase x
Keep it. She was obviously special to your familt.
He’s such a Hoot😂😂😂 I love seeing you two laugh and cut up together!!
Mapperton is a beautiful estate!
You do want some watee going around or through the dam. You have the right idea about rewelcoming the beavers to help shore up the pond’s infrastructure.
Love June’s journey I am on level 1655 been with them 5 years. Great game.
Keep the painting in your collection and have prints made for commemorative greeting cards or other Mapperton souvenirs
Definitely keep Quacker’s painting and get prints made of it for souvenirs.
Keep the picture of your beloved Quackers 10:36
I like that area if the subsoil will hold but not sure you need to dig it out. If you put beaver there, they would do it for you as they build the pond- they dig deep channels are know how to prevent erosion.

That painting should be in the manor as a history-teaching tool.

Claire your Estate Manager seems excellent
Keep the Quackers portrait. It should be now a part of Mapperton, just as Quackers was. However, you might think of reframing with a larger frame, preferably with a gold leaf (donated or thrifted by Julie in Italy 🙂).

Keep the painting in memory of Quakers. And ask about coping the painting for different merchandise to sale.
Yes, greeting cards and prints for sale and let your children have the original if they want it.
so many amazing drone shots! Good Work!
I would suggest keeping the painting and putting it in one of the cottages.
Quackers should stay with the house. It's part of Mapperton history.
By all means, keep the painting. Nobody can love Quackers as much as you do.
