If my ancestors had not left East Anglia in 1634 to move to Massachusetts, I might at least have passed by this estate on a country drive. Fascinating…
WOW! This is by far the most magnificent estate you've ever featured on your program, what a truly wonderful property, thank you for taking us with you xxx
Julie, you are, without doubt, an amazing interview woman - an incredible history bringer to those who can't "be" there - an elegant guest who shows respect and interest and we can SEE it is real excitement you bring to all these "tours" you share with us! I know I will make it through the dull Winter blue period knowing you have such in depth and insightful shows to watch! THANK YOU!
Writing from the northwest USA (Seattle) and thrilled to find your series. 🎉 What a wonderful combination of restoration, economics, …and This Old House.
Just discovered this channel through History Hit and absolutely love it! It reminds me of old BBC history shows. Just really charming, interesting, and excellent quality. It deserves way more attention.
So glad to find you again. I used to watch consistently but somehow lost track of this show. I am in California with 2 acres (it seems big to us) and I love to see how others are using their space. This one is so different from our place that it was a real treat to 'visit'. I had ancestors that lived in this part of England. Our place is in an area that has become quickly populated and that has driven the native wildlife to look for places to live. Everything here is informal and there are a lot of trees, frequently planted by birds and squirrels over the years. We have had wild turkeys and skunks but they moved on. Now there are raccoons, opossums. kit foxes {endangered species) and cars (not endangered but much loved), Good luck to you in all of your projects and please keep coming back to inspire us. Watching videos like yours is like taking a mini-vacation. 🏵☘🌺🌹🌳🌲
Julie does it once again. With her unique style and professionalism ,Julie introduces us to this wonderful estate, its owners ,managers gardners and custodians. Her interview techinque puts her subjects at ease and allows them to shine. Her questions are relevent and enquiring .Coming from a place of shared experience. The interviews are not rushed or time constrained. So each person can give well articulated answers on their passion. Well done to Julie and the Team. Top marks on production, content, subject, professionalism and all done with humour and kindness.
Magnificent property! Along with Mapperton , a visit here is now on my bucket list. I love learning about rewilding which before watching Mapperton, I had no clue. Thank you Julie, I love watching everything you do.
Julie, you are such a great storyteller chock full of historic facts. I love watching your visits to other historic homes and estates. The rewilding projects are my absolute favorite! Much love to you from this new fan.
The front garden is beautiful! The lake makes me think of Lake Dennison in Ma. USA. We use to go camping there, until dad found Rand Pond up in NH. I am going to agree with some of the other commenters here, this is the best estate you have featured thus far.
Another fascinating video. Lovely to see another estate that has struck the balance between the environment and food production as well as preservig the living history of the house. P.S. Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Fair yesterday.
What a wonderful house and estate! 🏘 On a shallow note, Hugh Crossley (Lord Somerleyton) is the hottest, most attractive lord of a British historic house that I can remember ever featured. 🔥😊
Gosh, it must be an incredible cluster of challenges happening at all times to keep these wonderful homes for posterity. Getting them to produce enough services so they wash their own faces must be daunting!
I am so happy that these historic houses and estates are rewilding. This is such a beautiful place. Julie the work you do by showing these places makes alot of this possible i am sure. Keep up the terrific work! ❤
This estate is really nice, and quite large, but i have to be honest about the crimson room, it looks like someone shot the couch, just a bit to much of that wall paper. We all have different likes and dislikes, in fact I've never seen one of these estates where the decorating seemed a bit much, but the crimson room had be do a double take. Thanks for another great historical estate tour Julie, the garden's and wildlife conservation area's were nice, and i like the foot print of the home. I hope you get to restore the tapestries at Mapperton, i am just so curious about how all the pieces that were cut out, but found, will look after the repairs. G-d bless.
Hate the wall to wall carpet - detracts from the heritage etc - is it for warmth or to protect floor boards- around the toilet ? That would be hit and miss - imagine the smell and the cleaning?
I enjoy your videos.....they are all great. Just one question....Do you ever visit the United States. Are you homesick on Thanksgiving? Just wondering from a fellow American.
Did you realize that you failed to mention the NAME of this house/estate in descrtiption? I'd like to read more about its history, see their website, etc. And did not get the NAME written down fast enough when it flashed so briefly early in the video. For all your house tours, PLEASE write name of the house, the website in the description. I'm sure owners would also like their website listed so people check on booking tours, or hiring the house, or shopping their gift shop, etc.
so the current family bought this house after the first guy put all his money into it and made it what it is today.. interesting... so we and they owe him,

I LOVE THE CHANNEL!!!! YOU ARE AMAZING ! I cannot imagine the yearly cost of a home of this magnitude !!! Not including the land! WOW
Wow, thank you!
My favourite channel I had no idea about this great house
What a wonderful house and estate! 🏘

Yes More!
Beautiful home. I instantly recognized the staircase from The Crown.
Gosh, it must be an incredible cluster of challenges happening at all times to keep these wonderful homes for posterity. Getting them to produce enough services so they wash their own faces must be daunting!

I wanted to see more of the house.
Just realized it was Julie running through maze!

I thought that room was a bit strong. I would soften it down with some white drapery.

A little bit of Heaven..
is it the awfull anglo style chateauesque or Pitoresque neo stuff of the late 19th?
