Thats exactly what I appreciate and feel many fail to realize, this could’ve been an absolute disaster and mess of a film but it somehow worked, they made it work
Tobey and Andrew looked after Tom like a little brother. They didn't let him make the mistakes they made. Tobey made him realize that revenge wasn't the most important thing. Since he knew that revenge had in no way relieved him, he was burdened with an even greater burden. Andrew did not let Tom lose his beloved girl because he knew how it hurt. This is wonderful ❤️
Literally, that was the best thing about their chemistry. Tobey and Andrew fought their own inner demons, and they weren’t going to let a younger version (Tom) of themselves go through that and do something they’ll regret. Kudos to the people that made this film.
Can't express enough how much this movie means to me for bringing back and combining so many things from my childhood and adulthood together and making something genuinely legendary
I'm gonna be 40 this year. In my entire life, I had never been so excited for a movie leading up to seeing it, and then so giddy with child-like delight after I left the theater. It was a culmination of lifelong fandom. No matter how much I dislike modern Marvel, this movie will always standout for me.
There's also the scene when Andrew comes out of the portal where he takes his mask off and says "It's ok, I'm a nice guy" to calm Ned's lola down, which seemed to be a reference to the scene in TASM 1 where Peter does the same to a kid in a car he's trying to save
I think one of my favourite things about this is seeing Toby Maguire's spiderman "all grown up." Like, he's a little like Spiderverse's spiderman before he died - fully realised, centred, the most emotionally mature out of the three. But he's also a lot humbler, you get some real zen master vibes from him. Even in the way he talks about Harry - it's played for comedy, but I think there's a nice nuance to the performance there. He still finds it hard to talk about, but he doesn't shy away from opening up to the people who need help. Even the "trying to be better". I bet you he thinks about the Venom suit escapade as his embarrassing teenage years, it's so great. ESPECIALLY with the way he refuses Andrew's spiderman to call himself lame. Like, he's setting a great example for Tom's spiderman by directly contradicting self-deprecation and building Andrew's up, but you also know he's been there himself. This dude's gone to therapy. I dunno, Andrew's spiderman definitely stole the show, but while Toby didn't bring a particularly "standout" performance like Andrew did, he brought the exact energy that made sense and was needed in that trio. Sometimes less is more.
When andrew was doubting himself, tobey called him amazing (Andrew spiderman was titled the amazing spiderman). Not once. Not twice. Three times, like the three movies that should have been.
This is exactly why I was hoping MCU Spiderman was going to be a fresh live action take where he's already an adult like in his introduction during Civil War. He's so grounded and wise as an adult. He still has all the tropes and emotional turmoil a hero needs but he's more of a leader as he gets older. A mentor to others. MCU Spiderman turned out alright but I got bored of the High School schtick 4 movies ago.
@@mbovb006 not a bad idea you have there. Plus in the comics, Peter becomes a teacher while still being spidey-man and frequently had Cap call him "the best of us". Tobey's almost monotone performance in the raimi films might have landed some groundedness to the mcu. Sadly marvel has lost me forever after their poor choices with civil war. And I wasn't thrilled with ultron. Wondering why im here? The algorithm.
I actually liked andrew's spiderman the least. Like I actually felt her the least immature of them all even more than Tom. Tom was the best one for me. But also he had more screen time so he was able to show case way more range. I'm not lie Andrew did showcase really good acting skills during his "short" performance, but dunno I just don't like that spiderman...
Missing the scene in which ned promises Holland that he would not become a supervillain to kill him, then Andrew touches ned's shoulder, remembering when Harry wanted to kill him, but leaving that reference aside thanks for uploading the video!
Also on the bridge fight with ock when Tom takes over his arms, ock says "you don't listen to him, listen to me" just like in Spiderman 2 when he tells them "listen to me now!"
Honestly, this film is a masterpiece and a big thing for big Spidey fans everywhere. Childhood was made with this film and it's many surprises! I watched this in the theaters with my best friend and we kept slapping each other in the arm in excitement when a cameo would appear. Like omg it’s (insert one of the many cameos here)😯
Same, it felt great to see Tobey again as Spider-Man after so many years, I used to have a bunch of Raimi Spider-Man merchandise from stickers, action figures, web shooter, backpack, even a costume. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man made my childhood so awesome back in the 00's.
I love how Toby's fighting style with webs is precise aiming, with intention to finish strong. Andrews fighting style is rapid fire, not entirely accurate but it gets the job done extremely well. Tom's is definitely a more loose, free cannon with more intention based on swinging attacks and longer webs. Very cool
I think thats quite reminescent of the enemies they had to fight aswell... Toby fought against enemies who you needed precision to beat, like octavius tentacles and goblin's bombs and so on... while Andrew fought against enemies you couldnt really fight directly like Electro and Lizardboi who is nimble and strong. Tom then again fights on a much grander scale with enemies who arent even necessarily trying to kill him (atleast in the avengers films, he ran interference more than "fight for your life" since those movies arent one hero shows) so he has to move longer distances faster... and also he fought a frekking AT-AT... i mean giant Antman. :P

The one that brought tears to my eyes was when I heard The Incredible Spider-Man theme by James Horner. You don't really hear music get referenced or respected the way characters and storylines do (Just listen to scores done for Thor. One I don't think many people picked up on was the school roof, at the start of the movie, wherein Ned, MJ, and Peter discuss about MIT and Peter talks about moving to Boston. Peter's wording of "They have crime there" is a direct callback to Andrew's Peter talking about moving to London with Gwen for Oxford, noting that they have crime there, so he can continue being Spider-Man there.

@@femboy_twink I already have. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I found it to be over hyped. It was a great movie, with a lot of impressive attention to detail, but I wouldn't have labeled it an absolute masterpiece. More of a technical marvel.
If you told me that the next (possibly last) Spider-Man with Tom Holland has multiple villains again, I would think “Oh shit, here we go again.” The fact that they broke that curse is such a pleasant surprise
You miss the part where Electro was holding onto Andrew Garfield like he did in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when he said "Spider-Man, bet you never saw this coming", and then proceeds to not see himself get ran over coming.
Ones I noticed that you missed were Tobey calling Andrew amazing. And when Tobey says his and MJ's relationship is complicated and Andrew says he understands, could've shown a clip from TASM2 where Andrew says his and Gwen's relationship is complicated
The pain in Andrew's voice at mentioning Gwen's death... Even after all these years, that still haunts him and it was beautiful to let him have his shot at redemption by saving Tom's MJ.
I love how the movie kind glosses over the fact that between the time that Harry tried to kill Peter, Peter tried to kill him AND Harry also saved his life
6:12 is a reference to TASM1 school fight vs Lizard. He uses the same type of webshooting. and 7:20 should ve "Tobey saves Norman from glider, Harry saved Tobey from Glider in SM3 too." Great vid bud!
And that's why it pisses me off that the Marvel Database gave the villains TRN universes instead of recognizing that they are the same guys from Earth-96283 and Earth-120703. We don't know if they were brought back by time travel or simply resurrected. Strange pointing out he didn't have the Time Stone earlier and the way Electro remembered the moment just before he died implies the latter.
@@鄧焯文 Maybe WHAT meant "after curing them?" When I read my own comment, your reply doesn't make sense. Yes, they were cured, but what are you saying meant after that?
This has probably already been mentioned many times, but that surprise glider moment showed that May wasn't mortally wounded by the grenade, she was mortally wounded when the glider hit her.
I love how SpiderToby is known for like being the most vulnerable spidey, but years come by he's now more mature and confidence in himself, to the point of suporting his younger alternatives
when Andrew says "I didn't pull my punches." There's a lot from the comics about Peter does pulls his punches because he is so powerful. I'd recommend Superior Spider-Man but also Straczynski also mentioned it.
I love how they did this movie. The Original Themes, The original villains, Andrew and Tobey, I can't wait until this comes out on Blu-Ray, DVD, and 4k.
I kept laughing at all the times Doc would reference his machine. Anytime they used their iconic lines was hilarious. Not many had em. Mostly doctor and green goblin.
I got to see this in theaters on opening weekend and holy shit, it was prob the greatest moment of my life. The theater was completely packed, not a single seat left untouched, and the audience was electric. Not only did the audience meet my expectations. But I also got to live my lifelong dream of seeing Tobey on the big screen as Spider-Man. I grew up with the Tobey movies but I never got to see them in theaters. So to experience this movie upon release was just something so fantastic. I was crying like a baby throughout the whole thing.
In my opinion, when Tobey was taking about revenge for uncle Ben I think he was taking about killing Flint Marco not the guy from the first movie cause he didn't kill him. Tobey"s Peter was prepared to kill Flint and finally he got what he wanted, after that moment Tobey"s Peter fully accepted & took the responsibility for this action. Also there is a scene where Peter told aunt May that Flint Marco was murdered by Spider-Man. (But yeah how we know Flint didn't die).
He's talking about the guy in the first movie. He says "The night ben died, I hunted down the man I thought did it", he knows for a fact that Marko actually shot Ben.
The only thing I'm sad about is they didn't play My Enemy more than once in the film, or at least played it fully through Tom's fight with Electro. I've listened to My Enemy so much I just find it criminal they didn't it play such a masterpiece more in this movie.
Andrew's expression whenever Tobey talks about Harry shows he remembers his version of Harry as well. Which is also the one responsible for Gwen's death.
I miss you when 2 spiderman look at each other and know they are spiderman (it's in spiderman into the spiderverse), also when tobey's "My back" he's also in into the spiderverse
You could have included Electro's "I thought you'd be Black" or "I'm sure there's a Black Spider-Man out there somewhere" with a clip of Miles Morales from Into the Spider-Verse, I suppose.
You missed a couple NWH: Electro said 'back to being a nobody, you couldn't see me' TASM2 (Peter: You're not a nobody you're somebody. Times square Electro: I just wanted them to see me) - Lizard: Poor Pheetah Pharker NWH: Hello Pheetah - Also considering both Osborns died by a blade meant for Tobey's Peter, he might think he deserves it. Also saving Norman will save Harry
Oh the last part, I thought you'd include when Max said 'there's got to be a black spiderman there somewhere' and include Miles Morales from the Into the Spider-verse. 😁
But Max never met Miles, and no Into the Spider-Verse characters appeared in No Way Home. It could be an Easter Egg about Miles Morales from the comics, but this video is about showing the continuity of the two Spider-Man franchises crossing over with the MCU in No Way Home.
Here I thought I would have spotted (or heard) all of these callbacks. I totally missed the Amazing Spider-Man theme during Peter 3's talk with electro.
this is surprisingly helpful, i did zero research on andrew before going to see NWH in theaters because i was running short on time, all i had to work with was 10 episodes of the 60s cartoon, the 1977 movie, 10 episodes of spectacular, ultimate, the raimi trilogy, and the latter of MCU movies while expecting anything and everything to be nodded at
3:32 even tobeys reply to that is a reference to spiderman swinging off empire state into the camera in the first film at the end of the film after the "Who am I ? I am Spiderman" speech. Correct if im wrong folks

@@femboy_twink I already have. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I found it to be over hyped. It was a great movie, with a lot of impressive attention to detail, but I wouldn't have labeled it an absolute masterpiece. More of a technical marvel.
@@anonymousaccordionist3326 mf you a film critic
@@anonymousaccordionist3326 I did about 20 minutes but the animation style just hurt my eyes
If you told me that the next (possibly last) Spider-Man with Tom Holland has multiple villains again, I would think “Oh shit, here we go again.”
The fact that they broke that curse is such a pleasant surprise
At 7:02, I realized Tom’s Peter was spinning just like from Tobey’s movie! :D
Hell yes
I already knew all of them from start to finish
Same here! ^-^
Ya-hoo! Hickmeister never lets us down with his edits. Whether its memes or appreciating a film, the dude delivers.
I read the "Ya-hoo" like Mario in Mario 64
You miss the part where Electro was holding onto Andrew Garfield like he did in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when he said "Spider-Man, bet you never saw this coming", and then proceeds to not see himself get ran over coming.
And I miss the part where that's my problem.
@@RichLunaMusic miss? Am I?
You missed the part where Andrew's Spidey made a slingshot boost from his web, he did it in his past movies too
I missed the part where that's my problem.
@@ogertime Stings doesn't it?
@@ogertime He walked right into that one
@@ogertime the comment I was waiting for 🤣
@@ogertime I knew somebody was gonna comment that 😂
I died laughing when Norman said "I'm something of a scientist myself" in the recent movie. GOD, I LOVED THAT!
Ones I noticed that you missed were Tobey calling Andrew amazing. And when Tobey says his and MJ's relationship is complicated and Andrew says he understands, could've shown a clip from TASM2 where Andrew says his and Gwen's relationship is complicated
I feel like Tobey telling Andrew he's "amazing" repeatedly is connected to Andrew's movies being called "The Amazing Spider-Man"
The pain in Andrew's voice at mentioning Gwen's death...
Even after all these years, that still haunts him and it was beautiful to let him have his shot at redemption by saving Tom's MJ.
5:13 makes me so happy
2:01 i like how it's kinda like a response to his own death lol!
7:48 Favorite moment right there
R.I.P. James Horner
Tobey's back still hurting is the best reference 😂😂😂
My back!
I love how the movie kind glosses over the fact that between the time that Harry tried to kill Peter, Peter tried to kill him AND Harry also saved his life
Tobey and Andrew in this movie is amazing so many nostalgic scenes
6:12 is a reference to TASM1 school fight vs Lizard. He uses the same type of webshooting.
and 7:20 should ve "Tobey saves Norman from glider, Harry saved Tobey from Glider in SM3 too."
Great vid bud!
If you look closely at 7:21 tobey maguire stopped Tom holland because he didn't miss the part where that's his problem
Tobey saving Green Goblin with the context of what May said in SM3 is so fucking good.
This is something else!!! Great job!!
Spider-Man NWH really respected all the previous Spider-Man movies that came before in order to keep that constant continuity.
@@SeanWheeler100 maybe it mean after curing them
@@鄧焯文 Maybe WHAT meant "after curing them?" When I read my own comment, your reply doesn't make sense. Yes, they were cured, but what are you saying meant after that?
This has probably already been mentioned many times, but that surprise glider moment showed that May wasn't mortally wounded by the grenade, she was mortally wounded when the glider hit her.
What a crazy nostalgic movie Spiderman no way home.I felt like I was a kid again rewatching all the movies and remembering the plots.
Nwh is legendary for these call backs
I love how they did this movie. The Original Themes, The original villains, Andrew and Tobey, I can't wait until this comes out on Blu-Ray, DVD, and 4k.
5:16 I'm happy that he's back with his back!
"I'm something of a scientist myself" absolutely destroyed me, laughed so hard at that.
5:03 Best part is it's the same sound
4:55 is a reference to a scene in TASM2; where Harry ask Peter if he has a girl
In my opinion, when Tobey was taking about revenge for uncle Ben I think he was taking about killing Flint Marco not the guy from the first movie cause he didn't kill him. Tobey"s Peter was prepared to kill Flint and finally he got what he wanted, after that moment Tobey"s Peter fully accepted & took the responsibility for this action. Also there is a scene where Peter told aunt May that Flint Marco was murdered by Spider-Man. (But yeah how we know Flint didn't die).
He's talking about the guy in the first movie. He says "The night ben died, I hunted down the man I thought did it", he knows for a fact that Marko actually shot Ben.
no he forgave flint at the end of the third one. also he did technically kill the other guy bc he let him fall
I still haven't watched this movie but these clips alone are proof this was movie of the year
The only thing I'm sad about is they didn't play My Enemy more than once in the film, or at least played it fully through Tom's fight with Electro.
I've listened to My Enemy so much I just find it criminal they didn't it play such a masterpiece more in this movie.
3:18 if only aunt may could dodge the glider like Tobey’s Spider-Man did
No way home bringing back so many memories from the other spider man films means a lot. A masterpiece 😭
It was very heavily caked with references.
You forgot the Spidey vs Lizard fighting in the school callback.
The Electro Music from NWH is in the scene where Electro breaks the doctor’s glasses and declares himself Electro
Spider-Man No Way Home is how you do fan-service right
1:46 as soon as Tom said that as I was watching it in the theatre I whispered “omg it’s like “I missed the part where that’s my problem” 😂
Awesome video man but at 6:05 I think you should’ve used scenes from the high school fight with the lizard from TASM1
It just gave me so much joy each time the movie referenced scenes from other movies!
I love how each spider man is their own. Their quips, their fighting style, their peter parkers
Reliving memories from the past in a present is just so refreshing!
Your a legend for making this 💯💯 all my respect goes to you sir
You could have included Electro's "I thought you'd be Black" or "I'm sure there's a Black Spider-Man out there somewhere" with a clip of Miles Morales from Into the Spider-Verse, I suppose.
The Dedication, Great Job!
6:40 7:42
This scene with the OG music, my god so good.
My favorite reference with the "My back" scene
Now this is the reason why I feel like this movie could be a reboot/revival of previous Spider-Man films. Lol
I like that you can hear Tobey's spider sense sound when he realizes Goblin is coming. It was so quiet I didn't notice it until a rewatch.
There's a lot more references than I thought there were!
2:37 “oh shit I was about to die “
You missed a couple
NWH: Electro said 'back to being a nobody, you couldn't see me'
TASM2 (Peter: You're not a nobody you're somebody. Times square Electro: I just wanted them to see me)
- Lizard: Poor Pheetah Pharker
NWH: Hello Pheetah
- Also considering both Osborns died by a blade meant for Tobey's Peter, he might think he deserves it. Also saving Norman will save Harry
7:01
Shame he don't said " i hate those things"
I love this! The movie is amazing!
@@SeanWheeler100 I understand. Just a thought. 😁
Here I thought I would have spotted (or heard) all of these callbacks. I totally missed the Amazing Spider-Man theme during Peter 3's talk with electro.
Tobey : *telling he killed uncle Ben's murderer*
Andrew : "You killed him ? Damn, I just totally forgot about him..."
this is surprisingly helpful, i did zero research on andrew before going to see NWH in theaters because i was running short on time, all i had to work with was 10 episodes of the 60s cartoon, the 1977 movie, 10 episodes of spectacular, ultimate, the raimi trilogy, and the latter of MCU movies while expecting anything and everything to be nodded at
3:32 even tobeys reply to that is a reference to spiderman swinging off empire state into the camera in the first film at the end of the film after the "Who am I ? I am Spiderman" speech. Correct if im wrong folks
the "not my problem" BLEW my mind just now. Didn't catch that, she really is his "uncle ben" arc.
"Green Goblin, impaled by the glider you flew around on."
"Oh"
I caught every single one of these! I was geeking out!!!
this is why i love MCU. they keep connecting things
And it all started with Iron Man.
