been waiting for a decade to finally see the last Raiders game in L.A. - watched some of it at my Uncles store in Fullerton, only memory I had of the game. Thanks for posting!
Christmas Eve 1994 also marked the end of the NFL in Los Angeles for 21 seasons as the Raiders and Rams would both leave Los Angeles and relocate to Oakland and St. Louis respectively. The Rams would return to Los Angeles in 2016, and after the Chargers made their bid to relocate to Los Angeles in 2017, the Raiders would leave Oakland for a second time in 2019 and relocate to Las Vegas.
The last game ever of the Los Angeles Raiders, the next year they moved back to Oakland and stayed there until 2019, the next year they became the Las Vegas Raiders. This was also Joe Montana's next to last NFL game
It was!! If you wanna see a nice pass that showed that Montana can still throw the bomb… Look at the Chiefs vs Oilers in the 93 divisional playoff… He put one on the money to Willie Davis and he missed it… Montana’s the GOAT for a reason!
The day the NFL died in Los Angeles as in the following season, the Raiders and Rams would both leave LA for Oakland and St. Louis and for 21 seasons, there was no LA NFL team. That is until 2016, when the St. Louis Rams relocated back to Los Angeles, and 2017, when the San Diego Chargers relocated back to Los Angeles.
Until Kroenke, no real long term stadium prospects. And just as the chargers have found out, attendance problems and being over run by the road teams fans.
Where the Chiefs had to win to get into the playoffs. Marcus Allen sure as hell put it to Al Davis and the Raiders that day. The amazing thing even when he benched by the Raiders and limited playing time, he still had all those touchdowns and over 10,000. Imagine if Al Davis didn't have a grudge against Marcus how many yards he could have ran for.
The Raiders belonged in L.A. and still do considering their popularity eclipses both the Rams and Chargers. It was a mistake not allowing them to come back. They're a California team. Playing in Vegas is all wrong, they don't belong in the desert.
The Raiders were definitely screwed out of moving back to LA. The irony is they followed all the guidelines to relocate the right way whereas the Rams didn’t and were sued by St. Louis and still got the support of the owners.
I live in Vegas and I agree - there are no Raiders fans out here but that's by design. The business model is to fill up the hotel rooms with out-of-town fans (Raiders fans from California and the visiting team fans from whomever they are playing that week). Most games here are at least 50/50 in terms of fan support and some teams that travel well (Chiefs, Steelers, Packers) have as much as 75% of the fan support at Raider home games. Many Raiders players and executives have stated that they feel like they play 17 road games per season.
Distinctly remember babysitting my 7-month old niece while watching this game on Christmas Eve in 1994 _...she'll turn 30 next month._ Where did the time go? 🤯
I think it was because there was a possibility that this might’ve been the last Raiders game in Los Angeles. That it was. I think also this being a win and in game, not to mention against a huge rival, made it a sellout. The biggest problem was that the Coliseum was just too big for an NFL team.
Better coaches for theses raider teams and with talent they had and would had better results than what art shell and company could do for them.Vanilla offense scheme
These were probably the two most disappointing teams in the NFL that season. Both started the year as favorites to come out of the AFC but the Chiefs were too old and broken down to contend and the Raiders were just meh all season long. Nobody thought they'd have to play the last game of the season just to get the #6 seed in the playoffs.

I remember being at this game, it was my first ever NFL game in person.
did you see any fights in the stands?!
1994 was a fantastic year in The NFL. The AFC especially. So many good games
It was the toughest division that year.
The first year I watched football throughly and is still my favorite season.
The end of an era for the Raiders
An end of an era for the US
Last regular season game for Enberg & Trumpy in booth as NBC Number 1 team
Also the last regular season game in Los Angeles until 2016.
Christmas Eve 1994.Remember this Sunday like it was yesterday.
Except for the fact this was a Saturday.

It was the Final Game for the LA raiders at the coliseum!
And the final game for the Raiders in Los Angeles, as they would move back to Oakland the following season.
4:12 that pass by Montana was a thing of beauty!
Really? That ball was in the air about 30 yards MAX and that was EVERYTHING he had!...Sorry display actually

Art Shell was fired by Al Davis. Shell became an offensive linemen coach for the Chiefs the next season.
He didn’t have them prepared to play and was passive and deserved to be relieved of his duties …
This rivalry used to be an absolute bloodbath & one of the NFL's best back in the day. Even when both teams were bad.
The poverty Raiders ruin everything.
1:04:32 One team's big blunder is another's good fortune. This was a back breaker for the Raiders. Hostetler's frustration on the replay said it all.🏈
Montana's last regular season game.
Christmas Eve 1994, a day which would live in infamy in Los Angeles sports history.
Am part of it , am on the field getting arrested 3rd Quarter 1 hr 28 min .

Thank you! ❤❤
I still can’t believe that LA went 22 years without an nfl team.
You can't?

Vince Evans was the greatest QB off the bench I ever saw

I miss the coliseum no longer having NFL. Sofi Stadium is sterile.

Car commercials were so different back then. It was all about style and features. Nowadays car commercials are just about speed and power.
the last NFL game in Los Angeles for 22 years
The Rams were playing the Redskins down the road in Anaheim the same day which was their last before moving to St Louis.
Sellout at the L.A. Coliseum was a rare thing. Even Whoopi Goldberg attended the game!!
Had a college classmate who told me he saw more Raider home games in our Freshman year at Syracuse than he saw in the previous four In Los Angeles.

The hit Derrick Thomas put on Hostetler during the int return was great!
Joe Montana's last regular season game.
I remember watching this game at Camp Schwab Okinawa.
1994 was the first year I logged on to a Raiders internet chat board
The Rams were playing the Redskins in Anaheim at the same time. Both teams would move onto other cities after their respective games.
Am the guy that gets arrested on the 3rd Quarter 1 hr 28 minutes . Great memories Love 💯❤️❤️❤️ my Raiders ...

I wish 94 team was as good as 95 team. They would of been in Superbowl.
Well the 95 team started strong but then the injury bug came and they ended up with an 8-8 season.
If the Raiders had won this game, do they go to Miami or Cleveland for the wild card game?
The Raiders would travel to Miami because they would’ve been the lowest seed.
Cleveland because they had the tiebreaker over New England beating them in the regular season

The Raiders sent home again by their arch rivals.
I wonder if the Raiders never move to Los Angeles in 1982 would the Rams stayed in California and got a new Stadium
Just imagine all those raider fans assuming they’d have the LA market all to themselves after this year….
Jaeger would’ve made that kick before the half blindfolded but they just HAD TO run another play..HAD TO…couldn’t help themselves
Yep,
That’s Art Shell with the blank clueless look with a ridiculous playcall … that really broke the game if you ask me …
Joe Montana's penultimate NFL game
I remember laughing at this being called a sellout...and knowing it was the last Raiders game in LA
...and that a third of the seats were under tarps. What is it with the Raiders and lots of unsold seats? Lol.
