My first owned game was actually the original pokemon red, and I legit think it was a mistake from my parents, since I didn't really ask for it. I actually loathed anything pokemon related (it didn't impress me at all, I was more of a super mario guy), untill I actually gave the game a try... that changed everything.
My parents gave me Pokemon silver when ruby and saphire were already out, but I owe them everything cause Heartgold is the remix i've most enjoyed as I played the original ones

I never really think about the passage of time until I hear gen3 music and I'm sitting in my moms garden again with the younger neighbour kid asking me questions I don't know myself: What's special attack? what's effective against dark? What's the diff between a great and a hyper ball? Back then I thought Ray, Groudon and Kyogre are ur starters. I proudly showed my grandma my base and I got stomped by the older kids every time I fought them. Shoulda appreciated it more x')
Bases in hoenn were definetly the best thing pokemon made trough the games
interesting. it was christmas 2003 & i felt a bit embarrassed in front of my sister that i wanted to play this game ever since catching the anime right when spongebob went on that infamous hiatus, & i felt bored & switched the channel on over to cartoon network on my own for the first time.
btw, i recommend listening to the restoration of "Mt. Pyre" indoor theme. the sound mixing is actually crazy for being formatted to the GBA sounds
