Great video. I make a Buddha bowl with hardboiled eggs, sardines, some sort of veg (spinach or kimchi or edamame) and add in only 1/2 cup of rice and I feel full. Adding those ingredients bulks up the meal with less carbs.
Besides taste, I do love the many textures you are achieving with all those ingredients. That white rice with cabbage it´s going to be on my lunch TODAY!
I really like the idea of extending rice by adding more nutritious ingredients to it. It doesn't feel like cheating or pretending to like something that I don't. I like my rice with other dishes and this is like hitting 2 birds with one stone. Thanks!
This is correct. Rice is not the culprit here. It is how much we eat rice. Also consider the amount of oil we put in our dishes. Coz 1 tbsp of oil = 120 cal.
I have completely removed white rice from my diet as I am a Type 2 Diabetic. I use barley instead in my cooking. For my pasta needs, I use anything that is chickpea-based.
I eat cabbage with rice for volume too! But I kind of boil the cabbage until the water totally reduces, and then use Kirkland/Pam 0cal canola oil spray para walang added fat.
Use brown organic rice or if in case of glucose issues y cravings for rice wheat grains y the like, steel cut oatmeal is a good substitute y lots of fiber good fiber not garments…
for those who manage gout, substitute the cabbage for Napa instead. When you manage gout and diabetes..have to get creative with your meals. Which my wife and I are doing.
Olive oil is around 140 to 160 calories per tablespoon and looks to me that quite a lot was used in the video hence, the cabbage rice had 122 cals per serving. We can opt to use zero calorie sprays or a brush to just add a thin oil layer to the pan instead and even make the dish less calorie dense - making room for a bit of dessert.
Yea olive oil may have 160 cal per tbsp but that is good calories that your body benefits from so those calories are not a problem. Calories become a problem when there’s little nutrients or in excess. My opinion 🙂
@@amalk9750 I agree indeed that olive oil is a good fat source. Our use of good fats are beneficial depending on the goal. If weight loss is the objective, then priority is to reduce caloric load. Remember that 1 gram of fat is 9 calories. No matter how good or bad your fat sources are, if they are in excess, it will give you a hard time losing weight. That's the simple law of thermodynamics as applied to nutrition. This concept is a universal fact and applicable to all kinds of diets. Energy in = Energy out. Now, If the objective is to maintain your weight, and optimize athletic performance, then that is the time when food quality matters more. Cheers! @@janjan123456 respect your opinion diets work different from person to person. For me, I’m on a Mediterranean diet and olive oil is used to mainly every dish I make. From salads to main meals and I still managed to loose weight along with exercise.so what works for one doesn’t work for another. ☺️
since rice is tackled, how about oats? Aside from the usual hot water and/or milk, what are creative ways we can do to make oats fun? Can oats also have a savory taste instead of just it being sweet?
definitely! my winter favorite is oats caldo-- arroz caldo way of cooking oats. sautée garlic and onion, add your oats and some water. fry some tokwa on the side. when the oats are cooked, season with salt, pepper and calamansi and add chopped chives. this is definitely my go to meal when i'm homesick and it's cold and the sun is out at 4pm. enjoy! oh, and this cooks in less than 10 minutes, unlike arroz caldo which needs longer cooking time.

lol i'm amazed at how Erwan just sticks his hand in the pan when sautéing the cabbage. :O

I absolutely agree with the fried rice. I don't know if I'm doing it right, but I usually eat that as my post workout meal before pregnancy. 😊
Thank you for this video..really appreciate the advice. I like how we can mix the rice with more veggies to bulk up the meal.
I love cabbage with the rice, been cooking it since I first tasted it. I like thr crunch of it. Thanks for sharing wonderful recipe.

Will definitely try the fried rice recipe. Agree that I perceive fried rice as a side dish hence having a tendency to add more viads to compliment it
I mix white rice with quinoa as an extender.
Please create a video that you are cooking a Chao pan rice! 🥰
Man, even Erwan got roasted and cancelled on twitter for something harmless. XD Anyways niice video!
I usually do the last one using leftover food.
Love the food videos but not sure with the audio :(

What ratio did you use for water and mixed grain rice?
Rice with oatmeal and monggo? That's interesting. I will try mixing it to burghool too. Have you heard about burghool?
Happy new year fam!
Im learning.
My hack is adding/mixing 3 cups of chicken&pork adobo with my rice.
Great video can you update to include konjac?
Wow😋 wanna try it.

Thanks. Good video
♥️♥️♥️
white rice all the way
wouldnt that amount oil make up for the lost calories made by substituting cabbage for the mountain of rice?
sauce for the measuring cup please 😁 I need that
Lmao nakita ko “rice” and “weightloss” i was like i gotta see this
how do you measure the water of the mixed grain?
💯☑️
Is that rice red??
The amount of oil that you add to the dish makes it unhealthy tho. Even if it's olive oil, it's just too much calories.
♥️♥️♥️
