    As a Chinese from Malaysia, i will pick Uncle Roger's version because that's how we cook fried rice here BUT i would say Gordon Ramsay's version are more flavourful. The sambal all ready has msg and strong taste. Then the rendang paste consists a lot of spices and aromatics. It's funny 3 of them didn't mention anything about the flavour.
    That guy in the middle who like Jamie's version. His tongue is either spoiled or he just hate flavour.

      @@rapiakbar13 lol, it's called magelangan in my area. My mother cook like Gordon Ramsay while my sister cook like uncle Roger. I do both style, but if I want Indonesian style nasi goreng, I need to make sambal first. Proper instant nasi goreng seasoning will give you the paste version, like adabi ones or kokita and bamboe in Indonesia. Nasi goreng for me is like leftover sandwich for US citizen or poutine for Canadian. Leftover from dinner will turned into fried rice for breakfast lol, even the soup.

    • @WhoStoleMyAlias
      @WhoStoleMyAlias Месяц назад

      @@untadagang6172 I had the same idea as I read that post. Uncle Roger's version is a Chinese style fried rice, like the girl said what you would order/expect in a restaurant. The one from Gordon is more like oma made it and the main thing she taught me was that there is no strict list of ingredients, you use what you have and that includes the other leftovers. Cultural difference, we have nasi goreng as a one pot diner so it usually contains some type of protein which may or may not include egg and if it does it goes on top, not scrambled.

    Gordon Ramsay made Malay/Indonesian fried rice, which I like most (except I don't use rendang, just sambal and belacan, onions, ikan bilis and more). Uncle Roger made Chinese style fried rice, which I also enjoy and have made before. Both are equally great! Gordon ramsay could've added more to his fried rice to make it even better tho 😂

    Actually some restaurants use freshly cooked rice for their fried rice recipes because the desire "dryness" can be achieved with careful water to rice ratio control and it retains more rice aroma than left over rice.
    For homemade fried rice, it's absolutely fine to use leftover rice, it's probably easier for most people to cook with, though.

      Interesting that you should say that about fresh cooked rice in fried rice. I just saw a video on the OTR channel about the history of rice. A restaurant owner said that it also depends on the age of the uncooked rice that also affects its texture. Who knew? Here's the link to that video:
      ruclips.net/video/1ivJsV1A5oU/видео.html

    • @Mikupigeon
      @Mikupigeon 14 дней назад

      @@score2high Rice over 1 year is called old rice, Newly harvested rice has richer "rice aroma" and old rice has less moist in it, therefore easier for making homemade fried rice, soggy fried rice is simply unacceptable.
      Some restaurants mix 2-3 different types of old and new rice together in order to achieve the desire texture, smell and taste, and Jasmine rice from Thailand is the most popular choice among Hong Kong chefs.
      Water control is essential and how much water is needed depends on the type or blend of rice being use.

    The quickest fried rice we make is whenever we cook longganisa, we'd always cooked the cold rice in the same wok afterwards to get the longganisa taste mixed in with the rice (plus the eggs as usual) with a pinch of salt to taste. Its quite tasty 😊

    Back when the internet was not a thing in the Barrios, I used to cook egg-fried rice; Saute Garlic until brown, Put in day-old rice, and wait until it dries a bit. Add salt and MSG to taste. Medium heat then crack eggs directly to rice then mix thoroughly. Kill the fire and let the heat from the rice cook the egg. Mix everything well.

    I cook fried rice all the time for friends during my travel in the Philippines, both, the more chinese version* like uncle roger's or more indonesian like ramsay'. Filipino tastebuds are interesting. Normie Manilenyos really doesn't like flavours like the middle guy but Kapampangan, Maranaos, even Ilocanos they love both versions.
    Anywho, where to buy galangal and lesser galangal, fresh or paste, in the PH? The last time i found it was in Baler in 2018-9, in friend' garden.
    *Chinese not malaysian because it doesn't have blacan/trasi. U can substitute it with 4x of bagoong alamang ofc.

    I dont know other people but we usually eat normal prepared rice as our main rice everyday so if there’s left over rice that’s we will use to make fried rice..but uncle roger fried rice version uses chicken rice “rice” to be prepared lol..gordon ramsey won this one imo because of day to day use of ingredients..not like uncle roger version where u have to make the chiken rice RICE first 😂😂
