Shopping Antique & Vintage Bargains at Giant Country Flea Market!

  • We're looking for the real deal today--real vintage and true antiques, and at prices that are real deals! We're combing Greenville, Kentucky's four-day extravaganza flea market, where sellers from across three states have converged to bring us everything from high-end antiques to a crazy booth where everything new and old is just $1/each.
Perfect weather makes this the biggest event at Luke's Town & Country Flea Market in the last five years, and the dealers line up all the way to the front gate! We find things right away at rock bottom prices...nicer Fenton pieces for $5, a Geisha doll set for $3, a flapper pocket mirror for $1...these deals are the thing that makes quick sales, happy collectors and nice profits.
There's so much to see, and even when we pay a bit, the value for money is tremendous! Onyx horse bookends from a fancy Lexington estate for $20, an old-time fire bucket for $18 (you'll like the tip on how we got a few bucks off that piece), a working green 1950s typewriter for just $5...there's so much cool stuff priced to sell, we make a bunch of runs back to the van!
In the process, we run into old antiquing friends, see some incredible items we'd like to own and even get a car show out of the bargain! Memorial Day flea markets are great fun for buyers and sellers, and we're so happy to get to go--and take you with us.

13:23 You never know why someone purchases odd things. The Lucky Strike tins reminded me of when I was antique shopping with a friend. I had to explain to her why I had to purchase. 2 old sacks of Bull Durham tobacco. My Granddad born in 1899 raised 9 kids as a working cowboy on various ranches in Texas and New Mexico. He smoked Bull Durham and I have seen him roll a cigarette horseback. I learned how to roll them for him when I was a kid. I painted a picture of him that was taken for a magazine. He was bent over getting dinner at the campfire taken while they were on the range branding calves on the Bell Ranch in New Mexico. In the painting you can see the string and the yellow tab from the Bull Durham hanging out of his shirt pocket. I have the Bill Durham on a shelf along with my husband’s Kelly Spurs he had as a kid. hanging over the shelf is an old photo of my Granddad and uncle bent down sitting by corrals smoking and you guessed it … smoking Bull Durham. He was 86 when he passed.

What an interesting story! The painting sounds really realistic and cool. My grandmother Higby was born 12/31/1899, she only raised 4 as a nurse...a working cowboy would be pretty interesting to know!

A great evening to you, George! I'd like to have an old complete set of Tinker Toys, still in the original box. I would've loaded up on the old hardware, especially the porcelain wheels. That crystal candelabra was a beauty. I liked those old decoys. Fantastic buy on the old fire bucket! I'd have had a bag full of those doilies. I use those a lot. There was a toy aeroplane there that caught my eye. Couldn't tell if it was wood or not, though. If it was plastic, I wouldn't be interested in it.
