  • We're hauling down to the flea market, and hauling back a great bunch of bargains on cool antique and vintage treasures! Our favorite dealers are back after a two-year hiatus, and it's our chance to find great deals on all the cool stuff they've been picking to flip to us resellers.
    Sunday is the day the vintage dealers cluster on one end of the swap meet, so we're headed there first! Some out-of-town dealers mistake it for a high-end antique show, but our local dealers and some others just passing through do not disappoint, and we act fast to get a great B&O train step just ahead of another buyer. We find mini bottles and soda glasses for just a dollar each (with an offer to fill), score a great 1930s clock for $15, and a VIking bird for $5 that we flip right away for $45!
    A fascinating Florida creature from the Paleozoic Era gives us its home to take to ours, where we unpack the haul and talk about what we bought, what we paid and what we hope our collector customers will buy! Flea markets and swap meets are great places to get a lot of good stuff all at once, and we are pleased to have these fun things to present in our mall spaces and upcoming shows in person and online.

    Okay so I know this is random but when you picked up the plate with the Swagman it led me to Google it and much to my surprise I learned the history of the song "Waltzing Matilda", which I used to sing as a kid in school! Its about a Swagman (transient laborer) who steals a sheep! It's based on a true story and it's just this whole crazy thing! I love this channel!!

    The B&O piece was my favorite since my grandfather worked there!! You should look at some pictures of the Delaware beaches covered in horseshoe crabs every spring. Being from Maryland & always going “down the ocean, hon!” in the summer, we always spot them on the beach. Tell your subscribers to never pick them up by the spine! You can turn them over to investigate by the sides of their shells. Their legs don’t pinch. Their blood have properties that are very interesting to scientists. Great haul! Thanks for taking us along!❤️

    The bracelet was 50s copper. Glass foiled opals. I'd have nabbed that railroad step too, I was raised by a rail nut who loved live steam. The bracelet the George found at about 07:00 is Italian. I wouldn't have paid up, but I'm a cheapskate. 12:00 Sure looks like Dansk to me too. 12:55 Waltzing Mathilda on a plate! It started playing in my head as soon as I heard "sheep stealing". Surprised bells didn't go off. That said, community yard sales are a great hunting ground, especially if you find a few sellers who just want whatever GONE, and who know what they have and don't care.

    Good evening, George! Oh, I liked those coral pieces right off the start. I'd use the B & O step as a footstool. That was cool. Those mini bottles would make a nice collection to put in a printer's drawer and hang on the wall. Horseshoe crabs have always fascinated me, too. I used to have a baby one, but I have no idea what happened to it. Loved the metal-cased New Haven alarm clock. Old New Haven clocks are one of my favourite clocks. The pink Bristol vase was really pretty. I really like Bristol. I've not figured out why it isn't more appreciated, especially to be as old as it is. There was "something" in the box just above the cast iron skillets that caught my eye. I couldn't tell what it was, but it looked interesting. The clothesline reel is super-neat! I'd like one of those just as a novelty item. That looked to be a fun market to shop and lots of really interesting items. You made some fantastic purchases, too. Thanks for the take-along!!!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад +1

      The printer's drawer idea is such a good one, the mini bottles would be just right sized and an interesting collection all together! I do favor New Haven in the early clocks (though some of the others had style too). I really felt fortunate to get to shop this group of sales, we only have a few of those kind of events where I am in Kentucky!

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I have a printer's drawer hanging now, with old wood spools, with the thread still on, and intermixed is a complete set of the Wade nursery rhyme whimseys. The different colour threads make a nice display, and the Wade whimseys give the eye a detour. I have a double-striker New Haven clock. It is a simple, dome-topped mantle clock, but it's my favourite of all the old clocks here.

    Well, let me tell you. The other day, Loretta came in wearing her clear plastic high heels and Buster said that it looked like she had jars of pickled pig's feel attached to her legs.
    Truth be known, Loretta has been seeing both brothers, Long and Harry Wang, owners of the Chinese restaurant, House of Eight Earthly Delights, Sushi Bar and Bait and Tackle Shop. Seems that she has been gorging herself on the Wang's spring rolls with their special sauce they whip up just for her. She just loves that tangy, salty, creamy sauce but it's beginning to show on her ankles.
