  • We see at a lot of great family heirlooms at New Harmony, Indiana's venerable antique show...but when we're not appraising items brought by collectors, we get to shop for them on our breaks at this gathering of quality antique dealers and their best merchandise!
    This year's event is this coming weekend, and it promises great things for serious collectors, vintage decorators and antique enthusiasts. We've got a lot to look at here, and last year's show reminds us of all the great finds, from costume jewelry (yes, that pin is Juliana) and primitives to rustic Fenton cabin uranium glass and a fanciful Hollywood Regency table!
    We're excited to show what we find to buy at this great annual event, and look forward to seeing some of you at this year's antique show and appraisal fair, this weekend in the old part of New Harmony! We hope this whets your appetite for this fun event, and we look forward to showing you much more.

    A good evening to you, George! Oh, I would've had to get that W. C. Fields record that was on the table. I really liked that wood box with the black boy painted on the lid. That actually seemed a good price for it, too. That "R S Prussia" hatpin holder was a repro, for sure. Mom had an R S Prussia hatpin holder, with the "Reflecting waterlilies" on it, but she sold it when we were combining houses...wish she still had all of the R S Prussia she once did. I want the croquet set! Loved that celluloid glove box, with the girl in the canoe. There were several butter pat molds there that caught my attention, I really like those. We have one old one here. I really liked the bamboo shelf the Staffordshire figurine was on. That is an amasing show! Thanks for taking us along!!!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад +3

      W.C. Fields was fun, even as a kid his humor translated through time to me! I'm glad I could point out the RS Prussia fake, so sad for all us porcelain lovers that was allowed to happen. Reflecting water lilies is such a great pattern! I haven't found a nice celluloid box in a long time. Bamboo shelving is a favorite of mine too!
      I'm glad this was fun and I'm glad to hear from you

    Hey George!
    Love that hat! So snazzy! Goescwith the shirt pretty well.
    That trinket box with legs - how do you tell if its a trinket box or one of those ladies cigarette holders with 3-4 ashtrays inside? Ive got a cigarette holder with 3 ashtrays inside it and i also have a trinket box the same size but no ashtrays. I guess the one without ashtrays you could call it whatever you want since it doesnt have the ashtrays.
    Loved that hook a rug! Definitely wouldnt be on the floor tho. The ones i did in the 70s i hung on my walls!
    Did you notice that Queens Bird teapot said Spode on the bottom?
    As always, love watching your videos. Learn something new every time! (This time it was ice cream came in tins! Who would have known?).
    Be safe in your travels.

    Whats the difference between a tea cup without a handle and a watchman's mug?

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Год назад +3

      Weight, primarily. Watchmans mugs were thick, heavy and handleless (and plain white) so people could use them to warm their hands in a war theater, especially WWII. Early handleless tea cups date a century earlier, are usually decorated and thinner walled porcelain or ironstone
