I feel like a boomer...I was there. Somewhat surreal experience as no beer was sold. I'm not a RHCP fan at all, but was shocked when they came on stage, and had a great view from the upper deck of RFK watching all the people that left run back in.
"I feel so bad that he doesn't like Funky Munks!"🤣🎸
Every single band that played that show was absolutley amazing
And his speech was: "Here's to all the intelligent people in the crowd. You know who you are. To be honest, I think there's only about two that ain't. You guys have been handling yourselves really well and on behalf of all the bands I think you deserve a round of applause, all of y'all. Michael (Mike McCready) is a guitar player and he starts this song, it's called Brain of J." Then he says "Thank you, I already got some" after he gets hit by what looks like a bottle of some kind of drink.
Is that shown
I remember Tibetan Freedom Concert’s website streaming this live, and I watched it on a 56k modem connection.
I was there live and it was a dream.
What a gift this band is:)
some of the best music our planet has ever produced!
back when matt cameron played even flow properly
Top 50 greatest drummers of all time. Must be doing something right.
24:32 Matt doesn´t need that microphone.
Thanks for uploading this.
I was there and was apart of this Red Hot Yusurpa !!!!!!!!!! Big Ups to Pearl Jam for being so willing
I love Anthony's necklace. Kinda like Flavor Flav, but with a guitar! 🤣 🎸
I have never seen a crowd ignite like that once they realized what was happening
🤩🔥
Very fun to watch!! Love Ed's puffy pants. ;-)
Almost looks like he's wearing baggy cargo joggers
He is! He wore them all the time in ‘98
@@livefilms1099 Jogger pants are comfortable and trendy. I have quite a few pair but their slimmer style. I've always like Eddie's style in his younger years
@@tremorchristlester4688 I always loved him in his cargos and docs...
The crowd nor Tibetan Peeps had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA
It's fun to watch Matt Cameron get it
I was there!
Pepper's show got rained out the day before. Pearl Jam shortened their set to let RHCP play some. The crowd was walking out on Pearl Jam. They weren't connecting.
what makes you think the crowd was walking out on them? they look pretty connected to PJ to me, 19:18 crowd surfing, moshing, clapping along, and at the end of PJ's set 30:30 they are singing along with better man and cheering and they are still packed into the pit pretty tightly 36:06 when PJ left the stage.
@@leinonibishop9480 a lot of people there say that a ton of the crowd was leaving the stadium after PJ’s set, because there was no announcement about the Chili Peppers performing, and when they started playing, there was a stampede of people rushing to get back in. I think that’s what OP is referring to
It wasn't rain. Lightening stuck the crowd the day before, which meant RHCP's headlining set was cancelled. PJ headlined night 2, and gave their encore to RHCP. PJ's set was incredible, but the crowd went aboslutely nuts as everyone expected a PJ encore. I think this was John Frusciante's return to the band too.
rick rubin rockin in the back.
Was there live-o, age 20, about from that vantage as an amazing intern for whfs and drunk in the jack kent cooke owners box
Because they want different sound for different songs.
for tibet. btw, why do they change their guitars every other song?
I was there. A huge bolt of lightning hit the crowd right across from us on the first night and a few people got killed.
Seriously?
@@virginiaknighten4687 Yes. Myself and my friends saw it. Scary.
@@phillipleblanc7823 you saw the lightning and the people who died? How terrifying.
I dont remember anyone dieing but it was awhile ago. it was late afternoon early evening thunder storm and lightning hit the top level I do remember there was a girl that was hit she met some of the bands afterwards at some point. I am not saying nobody died I just dont remember that but i would have been classified as legally insane that day as i brought alice and was in wonderlnd until late that night. What a great 2 day concert .Also I remember security had a hard time clearing the field after they closed the show due to the lightning .Security was pummeled with water bottles and trash. No one wanted to miss last band's of the day as they were the best .RHCP
@@virginiaknighten4687 - lightening definitely hit the crowd. I was there too. several people were serously hurt(but not killed) and they cancelled the rest of day 1, including RHCP's set. pearl jam was day 2, and they gave their encore to RCHP. the crowd went absolutely nuts when they came out
Back in the day when they "weren't cool enough".
How do you mean?
I am lost with that comment .Pearl jam was a top shelf bad at the time there buzz had faided some but still a great band .Maybe that's what you mean not sure.
I love Pearl Jam I watch alot of Pearl Jam concerts but one upsets me when someone throws stuff at Eddie very rude!! But Eddie's the bigger man of course!! 😊💓🤘✌️
is that rick rubin?
At 8:49? Don't think that was because of what he said . . probably just a typical concert goer throwing crap on stage and it happened to hit him...
What's up with their pants? 😂
The 90s brah. Thats called style
Start at 35:45
Christ! That’s like getting goatsed or lemon partied
