Exactly.... Basically everyone in my life is online, there is no one offline to do things with. It's not that I'm ignoring my friends... my friends are in NY, Denmark and Toronto. I can't exactly meet up with them can I? As for too much usage, again, I agree. But I have to have it, it's sods law, the time you turn away or put it down, you miss that vital thing you're waiting for x
I think the message is more about moderation. He must understand like the rest of us the convenience and opportunity that comes from our phones and social networks, but he's trying to convey that maybe we should put it down more and appreciate the moments around us instead of potentially missing them because we're too invested in our technology too much of the time. Maybe this was lost because of the extreme case that this video presents, but I suppose it was done to effectively get the message across, since some people need extreme examples to understand properly. But don't forget about your phone, it's obviously very crucial in they way your life operates. Just maybe give it a rest now and then :)
I wouldn't think you were dead if you didn't update all day. I would be bored because you're life is interesting while mine isn't. But I'd think you were busy or taking cat naps with the cats. The phone and access to internet 24/7 is both a gift and a curse. And I agree it's basically kind of like a form of suicide. Because I feel like even the simplest of interaction, whether it be a tweet, a text a like on a video. Anything is better than being a shut in not talking to anyone at all.
I think that everyone needs to figure out that looking at a screen isn't bad. You just need to find the balance between screen and social skills. Computers and phones are great! But so is hanging out with friends. Find the balance and you are good.

It´s exactly the same here. I have a wonderful boyfriend who I wouldn't have met if there wasn't for the technology there is today. Also I have ADHD and it was absolutely nothing to do with what he is saying. It wouldn't even make sense in the first place. Depression had hit me and the technology we have today has completely turned it around. If it wasn't for the internet god knows where I would be now. And as you say, of course there is always bad things on the internet. There are bad things in real life as well. There´s no way of escaping it. But there are also good things, Like helping people in long distance relationships like myself.

I know this feeling... When friends are too far away and Skype is the best way to stay in touch. I have found some cool people to talk to on Facebook, or sometimes I just have a 140 symbol small talk with someone on Twitter. I would have gone mad at this moment if I wouldn't have all these possibilities to talk with people who are way too far away.
I have always been kind of against the thing social media has turned into and what all these devices have turned into, but I remember exactly when I just got sick of it. I went out to eat with my friend and he was literally on his phone all the time, went out with 90+% battery and when he got to 3% he just told me he had to go. Then, few seconds later he says "Oh wait, I don't have to go yet, you have battery, right? Yeah, I can use your phone". I was literally stunned.
I always use my phone unless if it's something important in the way. I'd probably use my phone in the restaurant a little bit cause there's basically nothing interesting surrounding me most of the time but food.

90s kid here. it's shocking how much my family get togethers have changed. When I was 8 we were all playing board games, watching tv shows we waited all week for, or renting a new movie from the nearest Blockbuster. Hell, we even read from books sometimes. I'm now 24 and everyone has their face glued to the screen of their phones or talking about apps and selfies and shit that doesn't matter in the long run. Sometimes I wish we could get back to basics and have some time away from the internet.
I don't have a phone. I feel alone when everyone else is looking down and sharing snaps. Then I remember, they are the alone ones. The ones who hide behind the screen. Not me. No, I am climbing trees and hiking and boating and just smelling the fresh air. I don't need to have a phone when I have nature. I can sit in a car and look out the window for hours. I think that everyone needs to figure out that looking at a screen isn't bad. You just need to find the balance between screen and social skills. Computers and phones are great! But so is hanging out with friends. Find the balance and you are good.

Growing up we didn't have computers and the first video game I could play at home was PONG. Instead of spending all my days inside I built forts, wooden push carts, played baseball, football, frisbee, etc... In the 80's I got into computers and in the late 80's was building and selling computers. I've actively been a part of technology since and as a result have seen/realized the effects both good and bad.

Most the facts are exaerated, if not all. In truth tecnology is a huge factor in connection and teh cancelation of evolution, which isn't a bad thing... ADD (Which is actually ADHD!) is on the raise because its a genetic disorder, I know someone who had 7 children, All with heavy ADHD yet not due to the amount of times on phones. What about long distence. What about people with bad memory. Thiis isn't nit picking but a common misconseption that the video and many of his others seem to shove into people. Katy Osk is right. Yes there is a bad part to the internet and tecnology, but it amkes life easier, better, safer and connects every single one of us! I have a girl I have known for a year who i love, who is from another county. I would have never known she existed if not for tecnology. I would still be in a deadend relationship of depression and neglect and would have killed myself if not for her inp;ut to help.
It´s exactly the same here. I have a wonderful boyfriend who I wouldn't have met if there wasn't for the technology there is today. Also I have ADHD and it was absolutely nothing to do with what he is saying. It wouldn't even make sense in the first place. Depression had hit me and the technology we have today has completely turned it around. If it wasn't for the internet god knows where I would be now. And as you say, of course there is always bad things on the internet. There are bad things in real life as well. There´s no way of escaping it. I have always been kind of against the thing social media has turned into and what all these devices have turned into, but I remember exactly when I just got sick of it. I went out to eat with my friend and he was literally on his phone all the time, went out with 90+% battery and when he got to 3% he just told me he had to go. Then, few seconds later he says "Oh wait, I don't have to go yet, you have battery, right? Yeah, I can use your phone". I was literally stunned.

90s kid here. it's shocking how much my family get togethers have changed. When I was 8 we were all playing board games, watching tv shows we waited all week for, or renting a new movie from the nearest Blockbuster. Hell, we even read from books sometimes. I'm now 24 and everyone has their face glued to the screen of their phones or talking about apps and selfies and shit that doesn't matter in the long run. Sometimes I wish we could get back to basics and have some time away from the internet.

I enjoy watching the world pass in a blur, taking in the beautiful lakes, forests, and mountains. And I would also enjoy if I could share that joy with other people.
