    I've always taken off minor surface rust with a kitchen scouring pad. Only if it's bad to I go to a stone or a file because it seems to take a smaller toll on the edge.

      scotchbrite brush works wonders!

    Once I’ve applied some WD40 on the cloth and wiped the rust away accurately. WD takes off rust easily and also prevents edges from further corrosion. Not sure if this method is safe for the base material, so I tried not to touch the base much, and it was okay.

      Gotta first make sure there’s no core shots / deep scars on your board. I’ve heard that oils can loosen and damage the chemical bonds between the wood core and p-tex (base material). Even oils from your skin and fingers might sometime be bad (probably in extreme occasions)

    I have some union atlas bundings and noticed some rust on the camberdisk and some mounting screws, are those worth removing the rust/how would I go about doing that? Thanks in advance!

      Have a scotch brite pad or steel wool? Use that to buff it off.

    My snowboard has been lying around for at least two years and it’s quite rusty. Can snowboards at one point become irreparable or will my local store (possibly) be able to remove the rust again? Thanks!

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  3 года назад +8

      If it's just surface rust shouldn't be an issue. If it's so rusty the metal has been eaten through it's probably fucked.

    Definitely helpful, although I thought u want to run the tool in one direction not back and forth. Or does that not really make a difference?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  4 года назад +8

      If you're just removing surface rust and not trying to tune the board it's not going to do anything. Now if you're trying to sharpen the edges some people say you should only go one way, frankly since 99.9 of us are not world class athletes that need that precision and don't notice the difference, we're good.

    Great video mate, done everything you said but do I have to worry about not getting every black spot of my edge? You know, I don’t want the rust to spread but can’t get every black dot off is this a problem? I could send you a picture if the description of my problem is a bit vague

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  4 года назад

      Take the rust off the black spots are whatever. If you're really worried about it take it to a shop and get it tuned.

    • @MOBboss53
      @MOBboss53 9 месяцев назад +1

      Without seeing the picture, I am guessing the black spots are where the rust has pitted (eaten away at) the metal. Depending how bad it is & what type of rider you are, you may not even notice a glide difference. They will cause drag, but the tradeoff is how much life (metal) do you want to remove from your edge to clean it up.

    Well shit this was me. My board hasn’t been used in 5 years since I hurt my knee and last year I stored it in my shed well I renovated. After a year she looks pretty bad … the two ends are the worst… body is pretty good. Hopefully I can fix it! Take care of your 💩 folks!

    "Cause you didn't take care of your s%$#!" Story of my life....😭 Any chance you know if using like dw-40 or something would help the process or be worse?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  3 года назад +1

      Just make sure you clean it off the base if you get any on it. Otherwise it'll help, but if it's really aggressive and you're looking at solvents get a diamond stone.

      @@AngrySnowboarderThanks for the swift reply. These have been lying in a shop for like 4 to 5 years but worth trying to bring em back to life... A quick google search brought me here 👍. Appreciate the info and I will see how bad they really are tomorrow haha...Thanks again

      That file trick was a bit rough for me to start but ended up working out. Just used what files had lying around and a small wire brush 😅 tbh...so that could be why 😂. It was pretty beaten up. Thanks again for the tips! I hope I can use these or sell/trade up 😈 Have a good day!
