    Yep, that's the C.R. England I remember. Treating trainees like dirt and meat GPS systems. Though, when I trained with them, they had just made a rule that trainees couldn't sleep in the top bunk while the vehicle was in motion. So, I guess it's nice and cramped during any drive shift, but trainer makes bank because the truck only has to stop for load, reload, fuel, maintenance, and pre-trips.

  • @michaelb2952

    How the hell is 1 trainer teaching 2 students how to operate a semi? You the (trainer) would need to be awake 24/7 when the students are driving... If you the trainer are asleep while a student is driving then 1 ur not teaching and 2nd ur putting lives at risk...

    • @Wingfire99
      @Wingfire99 6 лет назад +1

      When I started you operated under a solo schedule for a week or two then spent the rest of the time operating on a team schedule with the trainer. Driving a truck isn't difficult. Once the trainer feels you aren't a danger in the road, their job is more about teaching you how to manage your time, fine tuning your backing, route planning, etc. Those things don't require the trainer to be awake all the time on cross country trips.

    • @southstreetbarbecue7875
      @southstreetbarbecue7875 5 лет назад +12

      @@Wingfire99 I completely disagree. I trained for my company and our policy was that if we were caught sleeping while the trainee was driving we were terminated.
      Just about every moment on the road can be a teachable moment and if something comes up that a student isn't prepared for you're doing them no good at all asleep in the back. If it's an emergency situation the student isn't ready to handle it could easily cost you your life.
      Sleeping while a trainee drives is dangerous, irresponsible, and just plain bad instruction.

    That just seems like a bad idea. I came from England 3 years ago and I'm greatful that they helped me get my cdl, and extremely lucky that they guy that trained me had 22 years behind the wheel. But 2 trainees at the same time? Your supposed to stay awake with them to make sure they can drive. How the f are you managing that? And your cramming more people into the same size truck? No extra storage space. Tempers are gonna get bad at some point, then you have inexpirienced drivers with no supervision and a bad attitude (I'm sure the trainer doesn't stay awake 24/7), and more people to get hurt when it wipes out. This is just a dumb idea on the company's part. But like he said in the video its all about the money. It is for 8 hours a day not 24.. For 90k its $1,730.76 per week for a 40 hour week.. NOW HERE IS THE TRUTH.. $1.730.76 for a 168 hour week is a whopping $ 10.30 an hour..

    From a big company point of view, having a 3 bunk truck to pump out drivers is a good idea. But that's just odd. How is a trainer supposed to train 2 people properly like that? Dosn't the trainer have to sleep? And OMG! Why are they being allowed to train in Automatics. Don't fall for this people. I'm shure there are people that know that if you train in an automatic. You get something put on your nice new CDL at the DMV that says ya still suck. It dosen't really say that, but it should. Well that's if you go to CR Englands school. And they teach you on an automatic. It shouldn't even be allowed for training in my opinion. It just a shitty way of learning.

      Hold up. I got to drive one of these. It's a really smooth, quiet, nice truck. We'll see how they age, but these automatics are pretty good now, not like those original autoshift monstrosities. I'm buying a newer truck this week which is another 10 speed but the one after will almost certainly be an automatic. They're getting to be all the same now and I'm staying with Freightliner because I like the interior layout better than Peterbilt or KW, and Volvos are too hard to get into a shop that will work on them.
      Just not going to have a 2 or 3 person truck.

      @@eiloen I started 40 years ago with a twin stick Mack. I now have 18 speed. I'll stick with a manual. Automatic sucks

      @@eiloen The automatic Freightliners are absolute horse shit. Drive an automatic Volvo and you'll notice a better response time when it shifts. With that said, I'll still take a manual over automatic any day. 13 and 18 speed manual transmissions are a lot of fun. Especially when going through steep mountain passes.

      mmmpisghetti you know why it’s hard to get Petes and KWs and Volvos into the shop? Because they don’t break down nearly as much as Freightshakers do. Freightliners are the absolute bottom of the barrel. You get what you pay for.

      101southsideboy that’s the mega companies for you. They’re training everyone on an automatic which in turn can’t drive a manual because of the restriction placed on their license. They’re killing off the manual transmission

      101southsideboy yes sir. Has been for a few years now. Anybody who tests on an automatic has a restriction that’s all they can drive. If they want to drive a manual they have to retest on a manual to get it removed
