- Just a quick update on the truck. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything so hopefully this is a step to get back on track!
1UZ v8 Lexus sc400 motor swap 1992 model year. Auto transmission
1uz motor and trans are in, sitting on their own weight. Still need to finish the motor mounts and get the wiring harness for the motor. It came from a junkyard so the original harness was cut.
Any questions just ask! Enjoy the video and get used to seeing the wheeler for the time being!

Doing a swap right now. How do you have room to connect up headers? Did you fabricate and customize?

I went with log style headers. I ordered a set of really nice headers but they wouldn’t clear and I wasn’t gonna refab the steering shaft. They were like 2 1/2” past the shaft.
Log headers leave about 1-1 1/2” between shaft and headers.
@@TacomaDad this is a 2000 taco and we have very little room. I'll have to look up log style. Or do you have a video of it?

I don’t have a video of it. There are two types of log headers, block huggers and regular. I’m using the block huggers, they don’t stick out as far and allowed everything to clear.
I don’t have a video, but if you google log headers 1uz they will pop up.

Love the build. Do you know why my 2019 tacoma make a squeaky noise when I drive the tacoma? No one can help me.

@@TacomaDad it sounds like it is coming from the front of my trucks driver side...
I honestly dont know what part is making all the noise, but I just want fix it. The dealership told me just to look at the truck it would be $150.00. I've heard it's a common issue. My tacoma is a 2019 sr5 I purchased it brand new. I dont want to sell it, but if I did I'd purchase a tundra 2022 sr5.
BTW they put 1uz swaps in Toyota Surpas.
It could be multiple things. Uca bushings, sway bar links, front body mounts, etc. just go through each one and try to isolate the issue!
Been following for a year now. This seems nuts lol. Why not just get another Tacoma engine? Just cost? Just the fact that you had a marlin taco box in there for a 2016+. I dont think they sell them anymore and impossible to get. Hearing you say you sold it made my bones hurt.
Because the tacoma engine sucks? Underpowered? Too many sensors to actually enjoy it offroad? The list is long lol. The tacobox was cool but not practical for our terrain around here. Wet rocks, dirt and gravel cover our trails. Very few places with open boulders to climb.
@@TacomaDad the fact that your engine blew the way it did, and having heard others encounter the same issue, pretty glaring engineering issue. I was just generally curious. Learn a lot from your channel, hope the swap goes off without any issues. Keep cranking out the good content my dude!
Yeah it’s kinda disappointing. That’s why another tacoma engine never crossed my mind lol. Appreciate ya watching!
What engine did the 1uz come out of? What transmission and transfer case works for this set up ? Last question who is making your new wiring harness? Lol thank you
It came out of a 92 ls400. It’s the a340. I’m finding out what transfer case works, I’m thinking it’s the manual case out of a 4 runner

How'd you blow the motor? Hydrolock?
I was climbing a hill, that was off camber and the oil got into the intake. Snapped the connecting rod on #5. Had a hole on the driver and passenger side of block.

Been a while since you posted, but what did you line the front fenders where you cut with?
I’ve been working on it, just behind the scenes lol. Working on the motor swap.
I didn’t line anything with it, just painted it black to cover up the ugly. Fender liners didn’t fit anymore. One day I’ll have the time to make some out of rubber or something

Ah yes. I sense your frustration
