You know the 4.6 v8 from tundra will almost bolt right in. Very fe mods needed, and ot will bolt up to the manual transmission. The 5.7 iforce max will fit with more modifications, but I don't know about its compatibility with the 6 speed manual. You can fit the 1uz engine in pretty easily as well.
That swap looks so clean. Mad prop on it. And the truck sounds amazing. This is definitely going to inspire a lot of tacoma owner to replicate it, especially if you can get the 4x4 system working.
@@quentinrance8974 I'm sure I could find a salvage tacoma and buy the engine and buy all the tools to do this and find the time to do this in my garage.
omg this is amazing… you got a write up? parts list? this is exactly what I have dreamed of and not that my 2017 is paid off, it may be time in the somewhat near future …. look at all that extra room in the bay 😅 love it 👌🏼
High quality swap! Only change I would make would be to paint the aluminum bezel on the gauge cluster either dark gray or black to really make it look stealth and factory..🍺
Hell yeah! I'd love to LS Swap my First Gen Tacoma S.A.Swap, sounds awesome! I had the MBRP exhaust on my 4.6 stroker XJ , great exhaust for the money, great work, looks really neat
Maybe the nose is longer in the taco. In my 22 frontier I could probably stand in the engine bay with the v6 and in a couple years when vk56 swap I’ll still have plenty room because the hood is so long lol.
Now that's what a Tacoma should sound like and how it should move. I got rid of mine because of the wimpy underpowered V6. Bad ass conversion and excellent job on the cluster gauges👍👍👍.
Looks great, and very clean! I have a 98 Tacoma 2wd 5 lug with an LS1/T56 swap and just did stage 2 by adding a VSR 7875 Billet turbo w/full length 4" exhaust and was able to keep AC and PS intact, but boy my engine bay is very tight... Great job buddy, you made it look very nice.
This is beautiful. Good work. Always told my buddies if the Tacoma had a LS in it, I'd own one haha. Definitely wish I was in the right place right now to hit you up.
Definitely ain’t passing smog here in California lmao😂 man sick bro that’s a dream build new taco with ls3 dosent get better for a smaller off road truck
Just subscribed. would you happen to be doing any videos on the mods? like what went into fitting the engine and trans into the truck? would love to see how you made everything work. great work!
This is very cool and a SUPER clean install, nice work. Really like how you handled the gauges. Do you lose all the stabilitrac and traction control, abs, crawl control, etc? Or does that work off a different computer?
I have a 3.5 in a 3rd world country which was brought here as a flood car, got it and used it for a bit and then all the electrical bugs started to show, so now I am thinking of putting a 5.3 in it. If you wanna blow it up, dip it in water 😂
Hello brother. I am wondering what kind of gas mileage you are getting? Going to use it in remote landscapes, need to know if swapping to LS3 is a stupid idea 😂 Thank you
@@aaa84gt I never really measured the difference in gas mileage since I built the truck more for performance on the highway. I will say that with the upgrade in power and the light weight of the truck, the truck moves along with ease and I am not at a gas station very often. I am not using the stock fuel tank. I have a 15 gallon fuel tank from Tanks Inc. between the rear frame rails where the spare used to be. I hope this answers your question. Take care.
@@azspeedster5465 Thank you so much, appreciate it a lot! I didn't even know there was a possibility to swap to a bigger fuel tank, that's amazing, an option I will check out for sure. Thank you!
@@aaa84gt Yes, you can fit a larger fuel tank in your truck. I did the fuel tank swap for 3 reasons. I did not want the fuel tank in the original location. I needed room for my dual exhaust system. I wanted a larger fuel tank for travel distance and also the 5.3 is fuel injected and I wanted to run a in tank electric fuel pump for adequate EFI fuel pressure and to keep the fuel pump cool during operation. Good luck with your project.
You gotta bring that into the dealer for a oil change 😂
😂😂😂
Came here to say the same thing! Lol
Ain’t no dealership changing my oil
Take it in for inspection.
Or ask the dealer some reason my truck sounds like v8 now can y’all fix it 💀
It fits so well, it’s almost too small of a motor for the chassis. Such a shame manufacturers don’t even consider power plants like this
Honestly, the gas mileage can’t be any worse than the v6 that came with it. I bet this motor would get better gas mileage than my 4Runner.
If you have driven a third gen tacoma you know this was not extreme but necessary
I have a 3rd gen with the 2.7 4cyl and a 5 speed. This will be my next mod haha
I sold mine. I was getting V8 mpg but not the power lol. Now I have a 21 Tundra.
😂😂😂😂 got damn right man😂

Ots only right. They should have put v8s in these dam things to start with
That thing looks like it fits better in there than the 3.5

That’s clean as hell. When my v6 gives up the ghost, this is next for me
This is literally one of the cleanest and well done swaps I have ever seen
Probably gonna get better gas mileage too.
Lol 😂
there's just something so beautiful about a clean engine bay with a fresh LS in it, truck has a proper engine now great job
The power the Tacoma deserves. Such a cool ride.
Finally! Someone that gave that 3.5 estrogen filled engine back to the donor Camry. Thank you!
This is so much better than stock omfg that’s how the tacoma should be sold
I thought to myself today, " I wonder if you can ls swap a Tacoma?". Here I am and I am impressed. Well done
Ironically I'll bet it improved the gas mileage!
Siiik. Glad you got on it some. The sheer look of it inside the engine bay is what really makes it badass
Couldve gone the 5.7 tundra route like others do but i love me the sound of an LS 😍 LS swap the world 🤘🏼
Who are these "others"? Haven't heard or seen of many..
🤯 so a v8 will fit but they won’t sell it to us.
Its a pushrod V8 which means its physically smaller DOHC v8's are huge
Just build it yourself

It's so clean, less junk then factory wow!!!
I was surprised how much room was in the engine bay. Looks like it takes up less space in the original motor. Ha ha. This thing is awesome.
The clean engine mount is great. The functional Head up display is a great job. The shifter is an amazing job.
Thanks man
In Drew’s Tacoma LS - the gears hunt you.
That’s a good one
Wow! Now that’s some amazing skills to do all that. Very cool!

I was waiting for your next video on the turbo v6 but you can'tgo wrong with the v8. Electric shifter and setup so nice
How much did the conversion cost you? That's freaking awesome!!
Dang dude, that engine bay looks better than it did from the factory. That's the engine it deserves!

I’m planning on doing that actually, at first I thought it would match my shifter surround but the more I drive it it’s more distracting then anything
How every Tacoma shoulda came
Some truly talented people out there, great job.
I've always wondered how to make my 2016 stock tacoma run better.. you sir are doing wonderful things ! Happy trails
Thanks man
This is what all tacomas need tbh, the stock 4cyl or 6 just isn’t enough, and they need a better transmission too.
Especially in the off road manuals!!
Very nice. We need another video when you get the 4x4 working.
I've gone through all your videos and read your posts online. awesome awesome stuff!!!!!
The Cluster actually looks really clean. You did great work on this build!

I wish it was easer to just swap engines like it was a one day thing no problems and everything works, the world would be a better place
Does it get better gas mileage?
This is what dreams are made of. If you could get it to sync with the OEM gauges it would be even better!

That number 7 spark plug is fun, too.
I bet if you remove or relocate all your accessories like he did you would see a difference.
Bet they’d sell a lot more of these things if they came like that 😂
How do you say this when Tacomas are the best selling midsize truck lmfao.
