1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV - No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. This scripture encouraged me when temptation is at hand. It reminds me to pray for my way of escape in the confidence that God has already provided it!
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 I must have the Word of Christ dwelling richly within me to fight temptation and to help me destroy any wrong thoughts by replacing it with truth!
One verse that has been encouraging me so much lately in the midst of temptation is James 1:2-4! “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” Also Nate Nowotney, thank for defending the truth!
“Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.” Hebrews 12:3-4 Considering JESUS encourages me to resist sin and to pray for God to keep me from sin!
Jeremiah 10:23 “I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.” Deuteronomy 30:15-16 ““See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.” Let the Gospel ring out in Texas, Idaho and Cali! Praying for more souls to be saved!
"I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away." John 16:1 In light of the previous chapter, John 15, abiding in Christ will help me bear much fruit and not fall away.
1 Peter 1:14-16 “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 [13] No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

“For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10 ESV This scripture puts my heart in a place of understanding who my God is and that if I do give into any temptations to sin, my triune God will grieve, leading me to choose to not sin. Encourages me to know that my God wants me to know who he is and all I have to do is read his word that is breathed out by him.
“Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father.” 1 John 2:24 ESV I’m ready to read Revelation with you!
1 Corinthians 10:13 [13] No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. God is faithful and we have His Spirit inside us!
Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Psalm 19:12-13, "Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then, I shall be blameless and innocent of great transgression." Presumptious sin means deliberate, premeditated, in willful defiance of God, but there are also unintentional sins that we commit as well. This verse reminds me that I sin every day, whether deliberate or unintentional, and to say I have not sinned today, I'd be lying. I pray daily for God to help me from both unintentional and deliberate sins, and that my thoughts, my words, and my deeds will glorify him in all I do.
2 verses that give me great confidence that God can restrain me from evil are: 1 Corinthians 10:13 [13] No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. And Hebrews 4:15-16 [15] For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Praise God for his Word that is able to keep me from evil!!
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
Hebrews 7:25 [25] Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
Jeremiah 31:33/Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. God's promise to put His laws in our minds and hearts, I believe, is one way God restrains us from evil. I am looking forward to the Endless Summer of 2024 and our study in the book of Revelation! 🔥👊💥
2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. Continuing to stay in the Word, paying closer attention so that we won’t drift away, continuing to grow in my knowledge of the Lord.. this will lead to greater holiness and resisting sin. Also- “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; HE WILL SURELY DO IT!” ~1 Thess 5:23-24
Jude 1:24-25 "Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."
Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith- to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. - Romans 16:25-27
Galatians 5:16-17 Keep in Step with the Spirit!!! [16] But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. [17] For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
We were at a big church for many years that had a Bible college and their own publishing company and they said the most hits on their website each week was on Saturday night when pastors would download sermons to preach as their own on Sunday rather than being good workman for the LORD. Very sad.
I have to be “paying closer attention” to what I have heard so that I don’t drift away! I’m storing this verse in my heart now as I double down my faith in the Gospel so that I won’t fall into sin. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I shall return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." This prayer has so many facets and is seemingly simple, but its also so DEEP!
Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him. John 14:21.
