Here it is, the new 2mm Thin Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon! And it is the thinnest tourbillon watch in the world.
One field of expertise immediately comes to mind when thinking about Piaget: the art of crafting ultra-thin watches. Throughout its history, the brand has become synonymous with legendary calibres, such as the 2mm thin 9P introduced in 1957, and the 2.3mm thin 12P micro-rotor movement unveiled in 1960. Approximately a decade ago, the groundbreaking 900P heralded a radical reengineering of watch architecture, seamlessly fusing the main plate with the caseback. This innovation laid the groundwork for the creation of the Altiplano Ultimate Concept, unveiled in 2018 at a mere 2mm thickness, making it the thinnest mechanical watch ever produced at the time.
As the brand celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2024, a milestone to mark that date was to be expected. The latest iteration of the Altiplano Ultimate Concept retains its remarkable 2mm thin profile, a hallmark of its predecessors. However, it now boasts the addition of a tourbillon, making it the thinnest tourbillon watch ever created. And we have an in-depth, technical video to explain everything about the 2mm Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon.

I would love to see a future version where they break with the circular shape of the watch which doesn't seem to make much sense anymore, and one that curves with the wrist instead of being a flat disk

The lugs are very short so it wears smaller than its diameter suggests. Plus, we don't see how they can shave off much more without compromising rigidity. With everything being mounted on a single horizontal level, you need a bit of space of course.

@@Monochrome-watches i believe they can, there's always room for innovation, same like mobile phones, theyd just release multiple versions so people would buy more versions like iphone :D

Extremely impressive, but when something like this breaks, will it be serviceable?

Sure thing, although it's something that has to be done by Piaget and not just anyone.
