I'm a Russian and Oliver Anthony represents how I percieve the real American to be, despite how the western media, social media and culture is portraying you all to be. If one is to judge from instagram, tweeter and mainstream media, it feels like USA had become insane. But when I listen to that song - I now that the hope is still there.

Oliver Anthony....
Oliver was struggling with mental health & coping with alcohol. In depths of despair, just about a month ago, Oliver got to his knees & broke down in tears.
Though he's wasn't a religious man, that night he promised God to get sober if he helped him follow his dream.
Oliver was about 30 days sober when someone reached out & asked him to come record a song for his RUclips channel.
That song was "Rich Men North of Richmond."
Within days, the song was going VIRAL on social media.
Today, John Rich, of Big & Rich offered to produce the album.
God is still in the business of miracles. 🙌

He stayed for 4 hours taking photos, and talking to people afterwards. He said in the video that he's not that great of a musician, but he just wants people to be kind to each other, and hear them, because everyone has a story.

Just bought on iTunes. It’s has the Number 1 spot in country! Rich men north of Richmond referring to the DC swamp is a brilliant title for this song.
It IS a clever title, slyly saying it without saying it. The rest of the lyrics are no less brilliant, each line connecting deep in my soul. I’ve not heard many complaints about the song, but I can presume some would be offended by the welfare and fudge rounds verse, but that would be selective listening. The tail end of that verse wraps it up with sympathy, saying you’re killing yourself because the Rich Men have kept you trapped to the teat and are more than happy to keep kicking you down. I pity the first politician that tries to glom onto this song because it’s an indictment of ALL of them. God bless this poet with the beautiful, powerful and palpably emotional voice.

A very large proportion of the government budget goes to BUREAUCRAT SALARIES - and bureaucrats are paid a WHOLE lot better than welfare recipients.

The politicians/executive class produce NOTHING other than extreme pain and suffering for billions of people world wide as a product of their psychopathy, sociopathy, and extreme narcissism. Most of them have law degrees and have zero empathy. His one line about Wellfare is more so talking about how people unjustly get assistance when they could easily support themselves. Maybe it's mental illness that's keeping them down, maybe it's a disability they could work to overcome, but they're stuck, fattening themselves up to the point of morbidity on money that could be spent to help people who legitimately need help getting back on their feet. Or at least on helping people who also need it, and don't even have a roof over their heads.

This song deeply resonated with me, Oliver's genuine emotions matched the deep frustration that is all too common for the once 'mighty' middle class. Every government solution involves us all giving up a little more. The common people must realize we are ALL just cogs in the machine, put away our political boundaries to stand together against the corrupt ruling class.

I am a priest and I used to work in Holland in the mijnstreek (the old coal-mining region) where I buried a ton of coal-miners (silicosis and so forth), and Holland has a poorer class and I knew those people and then I went to work in Quintana Roo with many indigenous people with their long and sad stories, so many times. But I am also a Legionary of Christ and so that bit about "minors" and Epstien cuts to my soul and I could tell you more about that as well. May God have mercy on us all!

My brother sent me this song about four months ago, he was one of those young men who was beat into the ground, after getting hooked on oxy because the Sackler family and pharma knowingly lied (and was secretly recorded laughing about) about how addictive it was and prescribed it en mass sparking the opioid epidemic which the US government helped with by bringing mass amounts of black tar heroine back from Afghanistan, doctors had no clue at all how to get people off oxy after getting them hooked on it, so all these people started using the now avaliable heroine. Meanwhile the sackler family also owned Methadone, one of the main drugs supposed to help with opiate addiction.
He died in October because he couldn't overcome his addiction, he was a poet, painter, carpenter, gardener, most of all and most importantly of all, he was a genuine friend, who even with his issues, would go out of his way to make sure you were OK and spend time with you, not asking for anything.
So when he sings "rich men north of Richmond" these money hungry scumbags laughed as they talked about how many people they would kill, and they are all walking free to this day. It's almost unbelievable if it wasn't documented so well.
