“People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers,” he wrote in a 730-word message posted to his Facebook account Thursday morning. “I don’t want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don’t want to play stadium shows, I don’t want to be in the spotlight.” Oliver continued, “I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression. These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they’re being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bullshit. Just some idiot and his guitar. The style of music that we should have never gotten away from in the first place.

Don't know if this is what he meant when he sang about the "young men putting themselves six feet in the ground," but i come from a proud Military family and my beloved niece deals with PTSD from her two tours in Afghanistan. There is an epidemic of our military taking their lives at a rate of 22 a day. My Annie has struggled greatly with how we gave up the country. She lost Brothers and Sisters in Arms there, friends. The Afghans who helped them were left alone to face the Taliban. They were forced to leave their courageous Military Dogs in kennels in the hangers (some who actually had prices on their heads) to be tortured and slaughtered. The rich men north of Richmond are doing nothing but kicking Veterans down when they should be raising them up. i pray for a day when there are no more homeless Vets or Vets on food stamps and when they receive the help and the praise that they deserve. 🙏🇺🇲

People are tired and FED UP with working ourselves to an early grave just to provide the bare minimum for our families and *knowing* that nothing will EVER be enough. Yet, we get a front row seat to watch the lavish lifestyles of the 1%. Oliver is uniting us and we've been desperately waiting for this kind of movement! Where are our liberties going, where is the justness in society, where are we encouraging the strong and helping the weak. I believe this song has hit the public consciousness because the righteous know wickedness when they see it.

Latest statement by Oliver(Chris) Anthony---It's been difficult as I browse through the 50,000+ messages and emails I've received in the last week. The stories that have been shared paint a brutally honest picture. Suicide, addiction, unemployment, anxiety and depression, hopelessness and the list goes on.
Im sitting in such a weird place in my life right now. I never wanted to be a full time musician, much less sit at the top of the iTunes charts. Draven from RadioWv and I filmed these tunes on my land with the hope that it may hit 300k views. I still don't quite believe what has went on since we uploaded that. It's just strange to me.
People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers. I don't want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don't want to play stadium shows, I don't want to be in the spotlight. I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression. These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they're being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bullshit. Just some idiot and his guitar. The style of music that we should have never gotten away from in the first place.
So that being said, I have never taken the time to tell you who I actually am. Here's a formal introduction:
My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford. My grandfather was Oliver Anthony, and "Oliver Anthony Music" is a dedication not only to him, but 1930's Appalachia where he was born and raised. Dirt floors, seven kids, hard times. At this point, I'll gladly go by Oliver because everyone knows me as such. But my friends and family still call me Chris. You can decide for yourself, either is fine.
In 2010, I dropped out of high school at age 17. I have a GED from Spruce Pine, NC. I worked multiple plant jobs in Western NC, my last being at the paper mill in McDowell county. I worked 3rd shift, 6 days a week for $14.50 an hour in a living hell. In 2013, I had a bad fall at work and fractured my skull. It forced me to move back home to Virginia. Due to complications from the injury, it took me 6 months or so before I could work again.
From 2014 until just a few days ago, I've worked outside sales in the industrial manufacturing world. My job has taken me all over Virginia and into the Carolinas, getting to know tens of thousands of other blue collar workers on job sites and in factories. Ive spent all day, everyday, for the last 10 years hearing the same story. People are SO damn tired of being neglected, divided and manipulated.
In 2019, I paid $97,500 for the property and still owe about $60,000 on it. I am living in a 27' camper with a tarp on the roof that I got off of craigslist for $750.
There's nothing special about me. I'm not a good musician, I'm not a very good person. I've spent the last 5 years struggling with mental health and using alcohol to drown it. I am sad to see the world in the state it's in, with everyone fighting with each other. I have spent many nights feeling hopeless, that the greatest country on Earth is quickly fading away.
That being said, I HATE the way the Internet has divided all of us. The Internet is a parasite, that infects the minds of humans and has their way with them. Hours wasted, goals forgotten, loved ones sitting in houses with each other distracted all day by technology made by the hands of other poor souls in sweat shops in a foreign land.
When is enough, enough? When are we going to fight for what is right again? MILLIONS have died protecting the liberties we have. Freedom of speech is such a precious gift. Never in world history has the world had the freedom it currently does. Don't let them take it away from you.
Just like those once wandering in the desert, we have lost our way from God and have let false idols distract us and divide us. It's a damn shame.

There must be hip-hop/rap remixes of this. I've spent the last 2 days watching YT reactions of this song. Most every reaction in me feed is by people of color. Every review leaves the channel's owner at some point utterly speechless.

I've noticed also that most of the reaction recommendations are black channels. Don't know if that's who's putting out most of the videos or if it's the algorithm, but interesting either way.

    • @chawk678
      @chawk678 Год назад +7

@StageWatcher If it were the algorithm, I can't it would be sending out just the reactions to this by people of color. I actually don't think the algorithm has a clue what to do with this. I believe it's all genuine at least to this point.

The emotion in this song is so GD genuine. It’s like the only friends in the world that this man has left are the 3 loyal dogs lying at his feet in the woods as he pours his heart out to the whole country……indeed….to the whole world. 🥺

This man has no fear. This country needs more young men like this one with big brass balls to lead us into the future. He doesn't want to be part of music industry because he wants to sing, write, and produce all of his own music without interference from the machine that is power in the United States. He wants to tell the stories he wants to tell the way he wants to tell them and I love it. Had he signed for a big contract with the music industry they would have buried this song so that regular people only hear the message they want us to instead truth coming for regular folks.

I love the song, and it’s interesting how much it resonates with people on both sides of the left/right divide. It’s made me see that part of the “rich men north of Richmond” plan is to divide people from each other. A song like this, full of soul and truth, cuts right through the division and hype, straight to our human existence, no matter where we hear it around the world. Much needed! 🤘

He wrote The People's Anthem that will go down in history.
When it feels like all hope is lost, Christopher Oliver Anthony shows up at the perfect moment, restoring my faith in humanity while bringing ALL people together 🫂
I'm so proud of him and I hope he never has to work a nine-to-five from here on out 🙏🏼
He's speaking for all of us, he's the voice for ALL HUMANITY and I'm so grateful because nowadays people are afraid to speak up about anything out of fear of being arrested or worse just for speaking your truth and saying how they feel 🥺
    Thank you Chris,
For literally getting me hope again.
It's so refreshing knowing there are other people out there just like me, thanks to this song. I'm so overwhelmed because I almost lost hope in humanity, I have been wondering what happened to kind, compassionate and loving people.
Thanks to this song, I found my people! ☺️ now I don't feel so alone & invisible. We have to come together 🙏🏼🫂🙏🏼 as One United Family to fight this evil that continues to divide us so they can control us more easily. 💯
This is the beginning of our fight, the fight for our freedom and the fight for a country.
Sending Love 💌, light🕯️and positive vibes🧘🏻to all my people! 🤍🕊️🤍

This is what we lack a musical vent more real music for our youth. Its human nature to rebel against injustice when everything is mainstream its a social void. For many of us old souls this type of music is nothing new its just refreshing coming from today's world.. We need more of this from all genres!!!
