What I love about Kiko is that he doesn’t try to play a million km/h with random shreds and never ending sweeps. He focuses on melodies and is very tasteful with his shredding because he knows when to shred. This is a great strength and what makes guys like Glenn Tipton, Marty Friedman, Alexi Laiho and Kiko so outstanding in the metal genre

Byd Lock Hes a machine but like Chris Broderick he doesn’t have the ability to right catchy humable solos that stick with you.. It’s lots of notes and sweeps and it makes for a impressive effort from a playing stand point.. But not a musically standpoint.. This solo is how solos should be to me.. Lots of feeling not necessarily lots of notes... Think even the 80s pop rock solos.. They are really really great solos because you can remember them note for note and sing along with it.. Van Halen, Europe, Michael Jackson.. Epic solos.. Not technical really.. So I’m coming at it from that.. Megadeth has the absolute best solos for me.. They are fast but still rememberable and engaging.. I felt like their last guitarist Chris Broderick by far the fastest player the band has ever had but the least interesting musically of all previous guitarists.. Kiko is on another plain because he can create real music, melody, passion.. Can sweep as well but that’s not the reason he’s there.. Mustaine has needed someone just like Kiko since Marty Friedman left in early 2000.. Took 16 years and a medically required hiatus to find him but him being in Megadeth has really excited people because he delivered great solos and playing on Dystopia and live with them.. He has energy and is vibing with the band unlike his predecessors..
Almost every solo from Angra's Fireworks album were improvised by Kiko, he mentioned once on a interview that he needed to learn the solos again. There is one that I love and have some similar technique compare to Conquer or Die from a song called "Metal Icarus".
I love kiko but I still think that marty is way better than him. Marty solo can grab your soul and make u feel what and how he feel when he played it. 😂

I'm not a big fan of thrash metal. I like some of Pantera`s songs, some of Metallica (mostly Black album) and now I am listening to Megadeth and I am enjoying a lot. Nice songs. I only knew Symphony of destruction and A Tout Le Mond until I heard Dystopia (that I really like). I am a big fan of Angra (Kiko`s Band), Symphony X and Dream Theater, maybe that's the reason I enjoy Megadeth way much than Metallica, it has more prog elements. I hope Kiko can really explore things in Megadeth like he do in Angra, would be amazing, cus He just enter the band and have already shine in my opinion, but there is a lot more he can do. Who knows him from Angra, knows what I am talking.

He will never replace Marty at that place. It was golden era - that's it. However, he's ripping it nicely and I believe that if Dave pushes for a truly good record and gives Kiko some freedom - they will blow everyone the fuck away next year :)

I think Kiko's work on Dystopia is better than any single album Marty did with Megadeth, but to truly surpass him Kiko needs to string three amazing albums together like Marty did from Rust to Youthanasia, only then he will be greater than Marty. Kiko is an amazing musician anyways, perhaps the best all around musician ever to play in Megadeth period (shreds, classical, piano)

I love kiko solos. He’s a different kind of shredder compared to Dave. Kiko is more precise and technical but Dave is fast, intense, and has the 80s thrash sound while kiko sounds more modern.
Dave, Marty and Kiko are legends with the strings. Its impossible to chosse who is better, all of them are an inspiration to millions of guitar player around the world.
Kiko said in a Brazilian podcast that Dave asked him to do something like Van Halen’s “Eruption”. And he said: “okay, piece of cake”. However, he did it in his own way, trying to apply his Brazilian background and his musicality! This song came up and they kept it on the album! There aren't enough of these kinds of responses. It's musically colorful, lots of shape, lots of catchy progressions, a very mature rhythm support, and a solo that any fan of metal ought to cream themselves over. I just wish the rest of the album had these attributes as well (just how I feel about them).
This is possibly the most Megadeth thing I've heard this millennium. Wicked good shit.. Got that So What / Lungs kind of aggressive melodic feeling, but obviously Kiko's flavor.

I'm not a big fan of thrash metal. I like some of Pantera`s songs, some of Metallica (mostly Black album) and now I am listening to Megadeth and I am enjoying a lot. Nice songs. I only knew Symphony of destruction and A Tout Le Mond until I heard Dystopia (that I really like). I am a big fan of Angra (Kiko`s Band), Symphony X and Dream Theater, maybe that's the reason I enjoy Megadeth way much than Metallica, it has more prog elements. I hope Kiko can really explore things in Megadeth like he do in Angra, would be amazing, cus He just enter the band and have already shine in my opinion, but there is a lot more he can do. Who knows him from Angra, knows what I am talking.

If you like Angra you should try Blind Guardian. They're quite a bit different from Angra but they'll make you feel good.

I think Kiko's work on Dystopia is better than any single album Marty did with Megadeth, but to truly surpass him Kiko needs to string three amazing albums together like Marty did from Rust to Youthanasia, only then he will be greater than Marty. Kiko is an amazing musician anyways, perhaps the best all around musician ever to play in Megadeth period (shreds, classical, piano)

I love kiko solos. He’s a different kind of shredder compared to Dave. Kiko is more precise and technical but Dave is fast, intense, and has the 80s thrash sound while kiko sounds more modern.

There aren't enough of these kinds of responses. It's musically colorful, lots of shape, lots of catchy progressions, a very mature rhythm support, and a solo that any fan of metal ought to cream themselves over. I just wish the rest of the album had these attributes as well (just how I feel about them).
This is possibly the most Megadeth thing I've heard this millennium. Wicked good shit.. Got that So What / Lungs kind of aggressive melodic feeling, but obviously Kiko's flavor.
What really makes Kiko a great guitar player for Megadeth is how his creativity adds upon Megadeth's essence yet keeping it alive!
